Arrow: Devon Aoki as Katana, Peter Stormare as Vertigo, and "Big Things" teased to come on SDCC '14

Big things are coming for the upcoming third season of Arrow, and it involves two DC Comics Characters, a hero and a villain, who will be well-known to fans of a certain Dark Knight hero and the emerald archer himself, as well as star Stephen Amell teasing away for the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con 2014.

After introducing a ton of characters in the show and opening the floodgates for what can very well be a DC TV Universe that interconnects with future shows (like that of The Flash), Season 3 of Arrow plans to introduce a well-known heroic face in the form of Katana, who will be played by Devon Aoki. Those who've read the comics know she is associated with Batman, and has served as a member of The Outsiders as well as the Birds of Prey. Aoki previously had roles in the likes of Frank Miller's Sin City, as well as playing Kasumi for the live-action film adaptation of the popular Tecmo fighting game franchise, Dead or Alive. The next bit of interesting casting news is that actor Peter Stormare, who played Lucifer in Keanu Reeve's 2005 film Constantine, has been cast as Werner Zytle, aka THE Count Vertigo. This is not to be confused with "The Count", whom Oliver eliminated in Season 2 and who was played by Seth Gabel. This version of Vertigo will be closely associated with his comic book counterpart, and should be an interesting new enemy for The Arrow to face in the new season. Beware The Batman gets a trailer and premiere date

Fans who have been looking forward to the new series "Beware The Batman" can finally rest easy, as a new trailer has popped up confirming the premiere of the series to come this July!

The CGI animation tv show, which pairs Batman with new sidekick Katana and his ex-secret agent butler Alfred Pennyworth, will see the Caped Crusader fighting crime and taking on the likes of Professor Pyg, Ra's Al Ghul, and the mysterious Anarky. The show will be the newest Batman cartoon since Batman: Brave and the Bold, and will premiere under the DC Nation block of shows based on characters from the DC Universe.

"Beware the Batman" animated series debuts on 2013

Announced by Warner Bros. during the MIP Junior Market Convention in Cannes, France on Sunday and reported by sites Comic Book Movie and Superherohype, it appears that a new Batman animated series is in the works by Warner Bros. Animation, but will be done in CGI like that of the upcoming Green Lantern: The Animated Series.

Titled "Beware The Batman", Warner Bros. executive vice president for creative affairs Sam Register confirmed that the new series will debut sometime in 2013, and will feature "a classic looking Batman teaming up with a gun-totting Alfred Pennyworth and a female sidekick ninja named Katana (who may be THE SAME Katana from Batman's own team creation, The Outsiders).


Executive-produced by legendary and longtime Batman: The Animated Series collaborator Glen Murakami, Beware The Batman will explore the more obscure villains of the Bat-mythology, featuring the likes of Professor Pyg in his rogues gallery. However, that's not to say that classic villains like The Joker or Penguin won't be making any appearances either. Also, despite the fact that Batman will team up with a young female-sidekick named Katana, that doesn't mean she will be a replacement for Robin.

At this point, I don't know what to feel about a CGI Batman cartoon series, but it's too early to say, and no other noteworthy info about the series was given other than the announcement and year it will be released.
