The Superior Spider-Man Returns With Giant Sized One-Shot This October

 

One of the most daring and ambitious events in Spider-Man history is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and Marvel is celebrating that occasion by reuniting the creative duo that brought the series to the forefront with Doc Ock as the Superior Spider-Man!

Coming this October, “The Superior Spider-Man Returns” will be a special giant sized one-shot that will bring the aggressive webslinging hero back to the forefront. Back in 2013, the Amazing Spider-Man #700 saw Otto Octavios do the impossible - defeat his nemesis Peter Parker by swapping bodies with him and becoming Spider-Man. However he also inherited his nemesis’ sense of power and responsibility, and aimed to become his own version of the wallcrawler by transforming into a “Superior Spider-Man”.

The one-shot will reunite writer Dan Slott with artist Ryan Stegman, and will also see other talents such as Mark Bagley, Humberto Ramos, and Giuseppe Camuncoli join in for the ride. Read more details via Marvel.com!

Marvel's next big crossover is the Venom event "King in Black"

While "Empyre" rages on as the current summer event and crossover spanning several titles in the Marvel Comics universe, the House of Ideas is already gearing up for its next offering at the end of 2020 - and it's a Venom centered storyline that has been building up for the past two years in the character's solo title and tie-in crossovers that will finally see fruition come December.

Say hello to "King in Black" - which will see the God of Symbiotes, Knull, come to Earth and deal with the symbiote we know best - Venom aka Eddie Brock and his "other". The story will be written by Donny Cates and illustrated by Ryan Stegman - reuniting the Venom team and also seeing the other heroes and characters of the Marvel Universe - including Spider-Man, the Avengers, and the X-Men joining in on the fight - which will definitely spell a lot of disaster and carnage as they try to repel the oncoming attack. The Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows: Meet the Spider-Man Family in cover to issue #1

AMAZING TIMES are ahead for Spider-Man fans who enjoyed the Secret Wars miniseries "The Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows", as that alternate universe featuring a still married Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson-Parker alone with their daughter Annie are coming back this fall, with writer Gerry Conway and artist Ryan Stegman taking their adventures as a family forward and putting them all in costume!

Seen first at Comic Book.com and featured at CBR, above is the cover to ASM: Renew Your Vows #1 - drawn by Stegman and featuring the Parker family in Spider suits! It brings a whole new twist to the growing Spider-Man line of books, and those who were fans of the Pete/ MJ marriage before it was undone by Mephisto in "One More Day" can now see those adventures ongoing thanks to this new series.

Spider-Man: Ben Reilly returns in Scarlet Spider #21?

Comic book covers have been known to have truth or "red herring" moments to them, but Spider-Man fans who've kept up with the web-slinger's adventures over the years may want to take a look at this one for an upcoming issue of "Scarlet Spider".

Yes. It's him apparently. Peter Parker's clone and the 90's Spider-Man, Ben Reilly, apparently back from the dead and facing the new and current Scarlet Spider, Kaine. Marvel Comics artist Ryan Stegman recently revealed via his deviantArt the cover to "Scarlet Spider #21", and it shows Mr. Reilly back as the first Scarlet Spider.

While the original Peter is currently "gone" and Otto "Doc Ock" Octavius taking over his life in the pages of "Superior Spider-Man", ghosts from the 90's "Clone Saga" appear to be coming back, with this cover to Scarlet Spider #21 seemingly confirming the original Scarlet Spider's return with his trademark hoodie blue jacket and impact webbing to boot. Nobody can tell what's in store for Kaine as he faces his "brother", but it could be something else happening entirely in the issue. We'll just have to wait and see when it comes out.

MAJOR SPOILERS of course follow after this paragraph on what exactly those changes are, which were finalized in the major epic final issue of the flagship Spidey series of Marvel that was The Amazing Spider-Man #700 last December 2012. Now that a new year begins, so does a new status quo for Spidey... Which apparently affects his status as an Avenger!
