Smallville’s Ton Welling returns as Clark Kent/ Superman for “Crisis of Infinite Earths”

Fans of The CW’s hit Superman prequel series “Smallville” are going to be singing those lyrics from the theme “Save Me” by Remy Zero, as Deadline confirms that actor Tom Welling is reprising his role as Clark Kent/ Superman for the Arrowverse crossover “Crisis on Infinite Earths” - which will feature Stephen Amell/ Oliver Queen, Grant Gustin/ Barry Allen, Melissa Benoist/ Kara Zor-El, and the rest of the heroes in a quest to save the multiverse as well as meeting other alternate reality counterparts, heroes, and villains.

The crossover, beginning this fall season, will be the first time Welling will be reprising his role - answering the big question what happened to Clark Kent after the series finale of Smallville. “Crisis on Infinite Earths” - based in the same crossover event by DC Comics from the 1980’s, will be a five episode arc spanning Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, and Batwoman.

Green Arrow to star in own TV Series; Will appear in Justice League #8!

Oliver Queen is striking back this week with a vengeance, and with good reason too.

The DC Comics' superhero better known as "Green Arrow" has been making the waves lately, with two news bits that have been circulating around the interwebz. First off, the hero has been pegged for a TV Series by The CW, the same network that aired the pre-Superman series "Smallville". Justin Hartley played a version of the character in the latter show, but there's no word out whether or not he'll be reprising that role, or when the series will get the greenlight to be done. Take note, this is just a network expressing interest, and it could be some time until we hear anything concrete and official.

The second bit of news related to the Emerald Archer is what you see above - Green Arrow finally makes his New 52 Justice League debut in issue #8, with Geoff Johns and Carlos D'Anda (Batman: Arkham City) doing the introductions. Main artist and DC Co-Publisher Jim Lee will be taking a break from art duties starting with issue #6, but he'll be returning in full force on issue #9. In the meantime, cover art is still coming from him, with this "Days of Future Past" style Green Arrow/ JL picture for issue #8 gracing the cover. Smallville returns for 11th Season... In Novel form.

Those of you lucky enough (or unlucky depending on your expectations) to see the final episode and season of Smallville saw Tom Welling "complete the circle" and don the familiar red, blue, and yellow tights that signify his transformation into Superman. While we all thought that was done and put to rest, apparently the adventure will still continue... But NOT in television that is.

Coming from a report at Bleeding Cool and Comic Book Movie, it appears that a new novel is being prepped and dubbed as "the 11th season" for Smallville, picking up where the series was supposed to have ended, where (SPOILER) Chloe Sullivan tells the story of Superman to her son, and Clark races to the rooftop of the Daily Planet and prepares to save the day. It's a similar move done by Buffy The Vampire Slayer (in which continued with Season 8 and 9 in comic book form), and well-known Batgirl and DC Relaunch writer Bryan Q. Miller is set to handle the novel duties, and it will be part of continuity. How the further adventures of Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Oliver Queen, and Chloe Sullivan goes is anybody's guess, but it's safe to say that fans of the show will be picking this one up when it comes out. Man of Steel Official Synopsis released!

Warner Bros. has released the official synopsis for Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman reboot, which is entitled "Man of Steel". The film is currently underway and casting calls have been given out in locations in Vancouver Island. Here's the official synopsis below:

“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.”


From the way it reads out and as noticed by many who share like minded views, the plot sounds awfully like the recently concluded Smallville TV series, which explored Clark Kent's early beginnings and eventual transformation into the heroic icon known as Superman (though that 10 long seasons to fill out, and much of the things depicted there looked more alternate universe-like than actual canon). It'll still be almost a good two years before we see this film in theaters, but it will be interesting nonetheless to see what Zack Snyder and producer Christopher Nolan do with this iteration of the Man of Steel, especially with the notable casting decisions made (particularly Perry White being played by Laurence Fishburne). Michael Rosenbaum will return as Lex Luthor for Smallville's Finale!

Looks like Smallville fans can breath a sigh of relief when the series ends this coming May, as Lex Luthor actor Michael Rosenbaum has given the green light for his return in the final episode of the final season! For a time, it was being speculated on-and-off as to whether or not the actor would be returning to the role that defined him the most in TV, but now it can finally be confirmed that he will indeed be returning... for one last encore before the series ends!

According to a report in TV Line, Rosenbaum has signed a deal with the series' creators to reprise his role as Lex for the two hour last episode special of Smallville, which will air on May 13. Quoting an interview with TV Line, Rosenbaum has said that "I’m simply doing it for all of the fans out there who made Smallville the great success it is. I appreciate all of their passion, their relentlessness, and even their threats. Ha ha." He continues, "I can’t wait to hug the old crew back in Vancouver one last time and see all of my old friends once again. The CW releases a new Smallville Final Season poster!

Movie news site Screen Rant has posted up the new Smallville final season poster released by The CW network, featuring Tom Welling as Clark Kent, literally standing in the middle of his impending destiny. The show has gone on hiatus following this past holiday season, and is expected to resume its run with just eleven more episodes to go before the show finally wraps up after almost a decade of running and entertaining fans with its unique depiction of Superman's origin and early years. Look... It's Superman?

I haven't been watching Smallville lately, but I used to enjoy the "off continuity" spin-offs they'd play on a young Clark Kent's life. Add to the fact that it made Tom Welling, Kirsten Kreuk, and Michael Rosenbaum household and popculture names in the the entertainment industry, and you have one popular show that tells a different side of the epic Superman Mythology.

Since the time Kirsten's Lana Lang and Mr. Rosenbaum's Lex Luthor left the show, it's been pretty much left to Tom's Clark Kent and the rest of the remaining Smallville team to carry the torch and breath more life to it. Since I haven't been keeping up with the show, I've been at a loss at what's going on except for the fact that Clark's more aware with his Kryptonian lineage than ever before and he's now based in Metropolis (it WAS inevitable). Now, a new pic has surfaced in the web showing Clark Kent step up to the role he was destined to take anyway. Starting sometime in Season 9, say hello to his "alter ego":



Tom Welling as "Superman". Hmm... I don't know what to think. Looks a little too Matrix-y and out of place. I don't know if this will click with the hardcore Superman fanbase, but one thing's for sure... the show better explain why the red, yellow, and blue tights was vetoed over this get up.
