SDCC 2023: TMNT: The Last Ronin II: Re-Evolution Announced

 

The new generation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are ready to take on their predecessors’ legacy and fight on, as IDW Publishing has revealed in this year's San Diego Comic-Con that they are releasing a sequel to "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin" with "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin II - Re-Evolution"! 

The new mini-series will be written by TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz, with artists Ben Bishop, Esau Escorza and Isaac Escorza joining in as well as colorist Edgar Delgado and letterer Shawn Lee. The spotlight will focus on the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Yi, Uno, Odyn, and Moja, as they prepare to fight whatever evil comes their way and under the leadership of their sensei Casey Marie Jones.

More details can be seen on IGN. The first issue of TMNT: The Last Ronin II - Re-Evolution #1 will be released this December.

TMNT: The Last Ronin is Getting a AAA “God of War” Style Video Game Adaptation

 

One of the best Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles storylines from the past few years by original creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird is officially getting the video game treatment, as Polygon reports that “The Last Ronin” - the 2020 graphic novel series storyline that sees the last surviving turtle in a dystopian future out to avenge the death of his master and fallen brothers.

Announced by Paramount Global’s Senior Vice President for Games and Emerging Media Doug Rosen, the developer is still being kept under wraps - but the game is said to be a “AAA” title that draws heavily from the story and is inspired by action RPG’s like “God of War”. The Last Ronin of course is revealed to be Michaelangelo at the end of first issue of the storyline - and the tale is greatly influenced by “The Dark Knight Returns” in tome and style.

It's been a long while since the Heroes in a Half Shell exploded back into the big screen following their lst live-action adventure a few years ago, but Nickelodeon, Paramount Pictures, and producer and actor Seth Rogen are set to bring a new iteration of the pizza-loving ninjistu using mutants back in a new animated adventure!

 Get ready to take a shell shockin' trip back to the 80's and nostalgia video game lane, as Dotemu and Tribute Games have officially revealed a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game coming to PC and consoles soon... And it's called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge!

Take a look at the reveal trailer below - and it's very much in the same spirit as the Konami games like Turtles in Time and the Arcade Game!

Seth Rogen to produce new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles CGI Film

In what will certainly make fans of the heroes of the half shell look forward to something new, Deadline reports that actor/ producer Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver are teaming up to make a brand new "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" animated film. The upcoming new CGI movie, a reboot, will be done through the trio's company Point Grey Pictures, with Paramount Pictures distributing and Jeff Rowe of Gravity Falls fame attached to direct.

No release date has been given for the film, but check out Deadline's article for more details.

Taking to Twitter to make one of the biggest reveals since the casting was announced, Michael Bay has revealed the first official photo of Arrow star and actor Stephen Amell as the hockey mask wearing vigilante and human ally of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles themselves Casey Jones, as he'll appear in the upcoming sequel for next year - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2!

Having played a superhero in the small screen, and a very successful one based on the DC Comics superhero Green Arrow, this will be Amell's big screen debut as another recognizable comic book character... And it'll be interesting to see what the man who plays Oliver Queen does to make this interpretation of the character work for the new film universe!

Since it was initially announced and brough about mixed reactions from fans and viewers alike, Michael Bay's version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was largely a mystery save for the bits and leaks of information and screenshots that made it into the web. Aside from starring Megan Fox and William Fichtner in the roles of April O'Neal and The Shredder respectively and the new looks of the heroes in a half shell, nothing else was showcased... Until now.

Via Comic Book.com, Paramount Pictures has released the very first trailer to the Michael Bay produced "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". Fans of the 80's animated series and the Archie Comics run,t be prepared for something very different.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: William Fitchner is your new Shredder

Looks like the guy playing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' nemesis The Shredder has been revealed for the 2014 reboot, and it's a well-known actor who's played notable roles in previous films like Armageddon and Heat (and a short cameo appearance in The Dark Knight).

Here he is. William Fitchner is your new Shredder.

The news broke out via an interview with The Huffington Post in Canada. Some speculation was added as well and there were theories he could be playing another role in the upcoming film, but it's been confirmed he'll be the bad guy and main antagonist against the heroes in a half shell. TMNT, directed by Jonathan Liebesmen, is expected to arrive in theaters next year on June 6, 2014.

Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer

Announced sometime last year and finally coming to fruition, the newest series' incarnation of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is almost upon us. With that, Nickelodeon has released a new trailer to promote their upcoming new show based on the 80's Heroes-In-A-Half-Shell franchise. However, does it remain consistent with the original show's roots, or does it take a new spin at things? Find out in the trailer below!

A different take indeed with the interesting CGI animation work and "Booyakasha!" joke. Thankfully  it seems to retain the same formula and basic origins as before, and no Michael Bay treatment to be found here either thank goodness (and that one got shelved recently). Be sure to stay tuned and vigilant for more updates as they come.
Coinciding with the release of new merchandise, the new TMNT Nickelodeon series is due for release this fall 2012.

Michael Bay's TMNT movie plans get halted

Whether you take it as good news or bad news, the majority of the fanbase will probably be relieved to hear it.

According to The Hollywood Reporter as well as Comic Book Resources, Michael Bay's intended reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise has been put to a stop, getting pushed back from a December 2013 release all the way to sometime in May 2014. The pre-production work being done for the movie has been placed in shutdown, as staff and crew working on the project have been laid off, most likely due to negative reaction from fans over the "alien treatment" Bay intends to give to the heroes-in-a-half-shell. This also comes off the tails of Paramounts other woes, which include delaying films World War Z and G.I.Joe Retaliation. For more info on the story can be found via the source post at THR and CBR.

By now, everyone around the world has probably heard the big news of Michael Bay's vision for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot. Earlier this week, the Transformers film series director revealed his company Platinum Dunes was producing the new Heroes in a half shell flick during the Nickelodeon Upfront 2012 event... And he sent the entire Turtle fandom ablaze by saying something detailed in this video embedded below:

He said that "These Turtles are from an alien race."...

That was enough to spark a big outcry from fans everywhere. As a fan of TMNT myself since the 80's Fred Wolf animated series, I can't even begin to describe my reservations for the "new direction". It's funny how Bay gave his own twist on Transformers with the 3 movies he already did, and we all know how those turned out. The franchise still made millions of dollars regardless, and one has to wonder if he'll add babes and explosions to his vision of the once mutant turtles now turned "aliens".

Casey Jones: The Movie can now be watched online free!

Remember that Casey Jones fan movie that was featured and shown a while back? Well, it's finally made it's way online for audiences to check out for free, as reported by Comic Book Movie! The official website has it up now, so go and visit it to check out some glorious "Goongola, Goongola!" moments by the infamous vigalante with a hockey mask and buddy of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

If you still need convincing, here's that kick-ass teaser trailer again to show why it's a pretty awesome project by fans who pretty much know what they're doing with the character.

Fan made Casey Jones film exists and looks awesome!

Thanks to Facebook, YouTube, and Comic Book Movie, I have learned that one of the most awesome and non-mutant characters of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' franchise is getting his own film... Fan made of course, but it's still a big deal! Casey Jones, the hockey mask wearing buddy and friend of the turtles, is getting the spotlight treatment courtesy of filmmakers Hilarion Banks and Polaris Banks, with the former playing as Casey himself! Here's the trailer to this live action fan spectacle, and it's a mighty impressive endeavor I must say!

As a TMNT fan from way back, I'm very impressed with what I see here. It's kinda like a cross between Rocky and Batman Begins, but with the atmosphere reminiscent of the Turtles' live action films, only much darker (heck, there's even a cameo appearance by one of the heroes in a half shell here!). No dialogue is uttered in the trailer whatsoever, but the music and scenes tell you more than enough it's going to be a realistic take and kickass origin story of the "Goongola, Goongola!" crimefighter and vigilante! It's too bad I won't be able to see it  for myself when it premieres on August 14 on Austin TX, but fortunately the fan film will premiere online after that! New Info and Details on Nickelodeon's new TMNT!

Earlier this weekend, Nickelodeon released a teaser image of their new and upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series, which is set to debut sometime in 2012. Now, via Enewsi and You Tube, fans of the series get an early sneak peek at what the new "Heroes in a Half Shell" look like in their CG inspired new show next year! Check out the video below!

The heroes in a half shell are getting another makeover and series... courtesy of the folks at Nickelodeon! Via posts from Slash Film and Topless Robot, we get our first sneak peek image at the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, whose new animated series debuts sometime in 2012!

Yup, from the image alone, it's another CG animated series... but it's looking promising indeed! I grew up loving the 80's Fred Wolf produced series and the video games by Konami, so you can see my enthusiasm for another show that brings the Cowabunga back into action! In fact, the turtles' personalities look more distinguishable from the pic alone, so it's exciting to see how this series will look once a trailer hits the scene!
