Daily DCU features me on their 2011 Halloween Costume reel at Tumblr!

Pleasant tidings come from the DC Universe, as I finally get to share a pic of me cosplaying my favorite character with the rest of the world, and just in time for Halloween too!

While wandering the Tumblrverse as "The Wandering Warrior", I stumbled upon Daily DCU's 2011 Halloween Costume submission post, which called for any DC fan out there to submit their best DC inspires costume. Since I suit up as The Dark Knight himself, Batman, I gleefully submitted my entry, which you can see below!

Credits go to Pamela Olarte for this shot, and thanks also goes to my cosplay team, Justice PH for the help and joys of cosplaying as Timzster. It's a real honor to be there with the rest of the DCU fans who have entries... and maybe you can get yours up as well if you're reading this and have a DC inspired costume! So just go to Daily DCU and submit your entry folks!;)

Captain America Update: USO costume revealed!

Anyone wanting to avoid SPOILERS best shy away from this post, because it spoils a significant nod to the comics that Captain America: The First Avenger is based on! With just a month away until the film's release, purists who don't want to know what the USO costume is can stop reading now. Otherwise, take a look and see a classic look get the movie treatment!

Via a post at Screen Rant, an image of Chris Evans dressed in Captain America's original comic book look has made its way online and is confirmed to appear in the film. It's kinda ironic to say this, but I feel it looks a lot more goofier than the actual movie costume he uses in the field. While I initially had my misgivings about the changes, I can see why Marvel Studios and the film's makers decided to overhaul Cap's suit and make it "realistic" for his battles during WWII. I can't see Steve Rogers running around in that get up unless he's willing to eat bullets and take in seconds, so I guess this is more of a nod to fans like us who appreciated the "classic cap" look in the comics rather than being implemented full time in "The First Avenger". That's not to say that Cap won't be getting a costume upgrade after he wakes up in the modern age either. As confirmed by Evans himself and through the recent reveal of the promotional merchandise poster, Cap will be getting another makeover come the time of "The Avengers", so it's a safe bet he'll be looking more "Ultimate Cap" than "Regular Cap". For more on the story, visit the source post at Screen Rant!

Captain America Update: First Photos Of Cap Costume in action!

Superherohype and The Daily Mail have just released photos online showing the full look of the costume Chris Evans will wear in next year's superhero flick - Captain America: The First Avenger. The man wearing the costume in this scene is NOT Mr. Evans however, but a stunt double who is participating in a scene where Cap, riding a motorbike, is being chased by agents of H.Y.D.R.A.

So far, things look mighty impressive in terms of the Cap costume's look, not to mention the iconic shield itself. True, the outfit bears a closer resemblance to the Ultimate Cap costume, but it looks pretty realistic, and it complies with the setting of this movie during the WWII era. Also, the"wing tips" will be making an appearance of sorts, painted on the helmet Cap wears while riding on his bike.

The H.Y.D.R.A agents also look impressive, along with their futuristic bikes. Not bad, but I'm still waiting to see Evans himself in the suit, as well as Hugo Weaving decked out in full Red Skull attire! For more pics, check out Superherohype or The Daily Mail!

Two Batmen fight crime this November!

Bruce Wayne will return, that's for sure., and he also has a new costume to sport when he comes back and reclaims the mantle of the bat. The variant cover to Batman Inc. #1, as illustarted by artist Andy Kubert, shows what fans can expect from Grant Morrison's new book than just a mere revival of his silver age gear. No, the yellow oval bat costume will have slight modifications to make him standout and look "different" for the new age.

As seen in DC's November Solicits at Newsarama, here's another look at the new costume Bats will wear. Honestly, and as I said before, it will take some time for me to get used to this new look for Batman. It looks like a cross between his Silver Age appearance, Batman Forever, and The Dark Knight, only it's intertwined in a manner that results in a very 90's look, which many people have similarly said about Wonder Woman's new costume as well. Could it be that we are experiencing a resurgence of that era's fashion and style? I certainly hope this is just temporary. Otherwise, the look is decent at best. Let's hope this "next stage of evolution for The Dark Knight" yields pleasant results once the book arrives in November!

Now to the other side of the coin... There are TWO BATMEN.

Yes, it's been confirmed that Bruce's protege and successor, Dick "Nightwing" Grayson, will still maintain his role as the "other" Batman, as seen in the covers to Batman #704 and Batman and Robin #17! That already answers questions and confirms suspicions fans may have had to the meaning behind "Batman Inc." - a Bat-family united and not necessarily limiting the mantle to just one man! Dick Grayson and Bruce Wayne will apparently be Batman at the same time, and carry on the fight in their own and unique manner! Of course, this is just too similar to Steve Rogers and Bucky wearing the Captain America uniform during Marvel's Siege storyline, but eventually the mantle was passed to the former Winter Soldier, and Steve now carries on the fight minus shield and costume as the new top cop of the Marvel Universe, Commander Rogers. Anyway, it's nice to see Dick retain his Batman look, and it's more familiar to me since it's still the "Retro" design with a few changes attached to it. At least he can keep an eye on Damian while Bruce goes crusading, hehe.

Batman and his Bat-Family make trends this November!

Another New Costume For Spider-Man?

Apparently so as you can see from the picture above via Newsarama, and looks like Spidey's going to go "flavor of the month" around once or twice depending on the circustances during his new bi-weekly routine this November when "Brand New Day" ends and "Big Time" happens. At this year's SDCC, Dan Slott was announced as the sole writer for Amazing Spider-Man post BND, and joining him will be three artists rotating - namely Humberto Ramos, Stefano Caselli and Marcos Martin. The artpiece above is by Humberto Ramos, and in addtion to giving Peter Parker a black costume with neo green lights, it looks like he redesigned the Hobgoblin as well. Purists can breath a sigh of relief to know that Spider-Man will still be donning his traditional garb, but I guess those wacky costume variant action figures we see from toy lines will finally see the light of day... or not.

For more info, check out Newsarama's interview with Dan Slott on ASM.

Green Lantern Movie Update: The Full Costume and Press Release Synopsis!

Via Newsarama, Entertainment Weekly's official website has just revealed the latest issue of the magazine that features the full look and costume Ryan Reynolds wears when he dons the emerald ring and assumes the role of DC's cosmic hero, Green Lantern! Check it out and be amazed by GL's light!

Pretty Amazing! It's obviously enhanced with CG effects, but the look is too cool and feels just right for the film adaptation! Now I'm really looking forward to footage from this sure to be 2011 comic book blockbuster, and maybe the upcoming San Diego Comic Con will have a tease! Let's just wait and see. For now, here's the film's official synopsis from the official press release, as seen in Wikipedia:

"In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds).

Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all."

Now THAT sounds like a Green Lantern premise! With Geoff Johns overlooking the project, and James Bond movie director Martin Campbell helmingthe project, Green Lantern is surely in good hands! Catch the movie when it comes out June 17, 2011!

Captain America Update: Concept Art Costume Revealed

What was teased the last time finally gets an image, and via Aint It Cool and Marvelousnews, here is the look of the costume Chris Evans will don to turn into the Super Soldier American hero of World War II - Captain America!Funny... No wingtips and a more modern appearance. It's Ultimate Cap! Yes, the costume from The Ultimates is being used, and while it makes sense because Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury is based from that time, I'm not too happy with the choice. Heck, Thor is using his modern outfit from the regular Marvel Continuity, and Iron Man is practically the same with his Extremis-like look, so why is Cap not wearing his old wingtips? Honestly, I can live with this, but I really wish they used the iconic Earth -616 appearance we all know and love from the comics. In fact, the very pose you see above with Cap running with his shield is the exact same one the Cap we know does, as drawn in Captain America #1 by series regular Steve Epting!Check it out and see the similarities!

The other images are also drawn from other classic Marvel covers featuring Cap, done by Jim Lee if I'm not mistaken! So, do you approve of the movie costume? Check out more images and details via AICN or Marvelousnews.

Captain America Update: First Details On The Movie Costume!

Marvelousnews.com has just put up a post detailing what fans and moviegoers can expect from Captain America's costume in the movie "Captain America: The First Avenger"! The film's director, Joe Johnston, has shown new designs of Cap's classic iconic wear to the people of Jobio.com, and while there's no official details or photos released or given by Johnston yet, the interviewers have noted and described what they've seen in great detail... and it sounds great already!
As seen in their post, Marvelousnews goes on to compile some handy and SPOILER filled information about how Cap's costume is gonna look like in the 2011 Marvel flick. The notes reveal that Steve Rogers will have two costumes to wear in the movie - his first WWII era uniform and the upgraded battle ready costume, respectively. Also, the trademark wings on the side of his mask will be gone though, and instead of a mask, it's going to be a custom combat helmet shaped to be made into a mask with the A symbol over it. As for the shield, it'll be the iconic red, white, and blue circular one, with a few tweaks to it I guess. I'm hoping he starts with the triangular one first though, to make his old school "first appearance" look complete.

Judging from what I've heard so far, the portrayal of Cap in the film adaptation will be more realistic than stylish. Here's hoping it'll still look epic once official production photos and footage get released! For more info, visit Marvelousnews.com.

Halloween Costume: New Captain America!

It was All Hallow's Eve, and in celebration of it, I decided to cosplay as one of my favorite characters from comic books - CAPTAIN AMERICA! However, I didn't go as the original Super-Soldier everyone knows and loves, Steve Rogers. Instead, I went as the man who succeeded him after his "death" and tried to carry the mantle of Cap as best as he could - Bucky Barnes!

Being Cap's sidekick and close confidante during World War II, Bucky became the new Captain America after Rogers was seemingly assassinated by the actions of the Red Skull. Carrying the infamous Shield and wielding conventional weapons to protect himself, this new Cap may not have the same strength and agility as the original, but he makes up for it with experience and determination to carry on his mentor's mission of protecting the innocent and living the dream for freedom and peace.

Along with my friends G and Mia, who played characters from the game Persona 3 and the anime Last Exile, respectively, we went around and trick or treated, grabbing some yummy candy and enjoying our time presenting ourselves in our hard worked costumes. All the effort seemed to pay off, and I managed to get some pics with other costume ghouls and gals on the road. Indeed, fun and epic is all I can say about this experience!

Just like that, Captain America Invades Halloween! Freedom Prevails!

Bringing on the Iron Fist... CLAMP style.

While browsing around, I caught this article from Kotaku.com giving out more details of Jin Kazama's new, spiffy costume - designed by famous manga group CLAMP as their contribution to the upcoming console version of Tekken 6. Incidentally, I happen to be a Tekken player and a HUGE fan of the Jin Character, so what's my take on this new look? Read on and hear my thoughts about it, folks.

The first thing I noticed when I saw the costume for the first time in sketches a few weeks back that it was, in true CLAMP fashion, ALL WHITE. Many of their animes seem to revolve around using this color with their costume designs, with notable examples being found in Card Captor Sakura and X. It's not ususual also since CLAMP is composed entirely of female manga artists who have a charm in designing eloquent and stylish looking costumes that remain popular among fashion designers to this day. Seeing how Jin IS one of the popular characters with handsome looks to match his emo attitude, it's kind of flattering that he gets an outfit exclusively from one of the most popular Manga/ Anime groups in Japan (I can hear the female fans screaming and nodding in acceptance already).

Game-wise, one will notice that Jin's new outfit is similar to one of the costumes of Lars Alexandersson, with the exception that Lars is predominently composed of red/ black. It's kind of fitting when you look at it, especially since Lars IS Jin's uncle, Kazuya Mishima's step-brother, and Heihachi Mishima's illegitimate son. One has to wonder if CLAMP intentionally made it as a contrast to Lars, or just designed it since Jin needed some Mishima fighting armor duds while he was trooping around the globe as part of his campaign for world domination. We won't know til Tekken 6 officially comes out on consoles this October, so here's hoping there'll be more costumes aside from Yoshimitsu and Jin in store for the game with awesome looking designs in mind.;) - Timster
