Happy 100th Birthday, Stan Lee

 

Today would have been the 100th birthday of the legendary Stanley Martin Lieber - better known as “Stan Lee” to true believers and comic book fans who know his impact and works in the comic industry! Known for co-creating Marvel Comics characters such as Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, and the X-Men, the comic book writer and scribe became a figurehead and icon in popculture himself - and was also featured in a number of cameos and roles in many forms of media based on his works, especially the Marvel Studios films.

Peter Parker takes on the Corrupted Ben Reilly as Spidey Vs Chasm begins on Amazing Spider-Man #16

 

At long last the showdown teased nearly a year ago is finally happening, as a corrupted Ben Reilly returns as his new alter ego Chasm to take on his clone “brother” Peter Parker in “The Amazing Spider-Man #16” as part of the “Dark Web” storyline that sees Ben team up with Madelyne Pryor (aka the Goblin Queen) to take on their progenitors Peter Parker/ Spider-Man and Jean Grey and get back what they need to make them whole again.

Preview pages for the issue have been shared by Newsarama, and the book goes on sale this January 4, 2023.

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Debuts its First Official Theatrical Poster

 

After releasing its first official trailer for the long awaited sequel to 2018's "Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse", Sony Pictures, Columbia Pictures, and Marvel have released the first official theatrical poster for "Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse" - which sees Miles Morales exploring the ever expanding multiverse which reunites him with his friends from the first movie and meeting new allies and enemies as well!

Aside from Miles hanging upside down, there's plenty of Spidey variants that can be seen in the poster - including Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Woman, Scarlet Spider, Spider-Man India, and so many other variants that will please fans of the Spider-Verse.

Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer Releases its First Trailer

 

Focusing on his next big film project that chronicles the life of the theoretical physicist who helped create the atomic bomb, Universal Pictures has released the very first trailer for Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer" - which stars Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer and also features an all-star line-up of actors that include Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, and Rami Malek to name a few.

Happy 35th Anniversary, Mega Man!

 

Today 35 years ago, Capcom unleashed a little Blue Bomber who fought against the evil Dr. Wily and his robot masters to save the world from their tyranny! That video game of course was “Rockman” in Japan - but it’s better known to western audiences as “Mega Man” and was first released as an 8-bit game for the Family Computer aka the Nintendo Entertainment System!

The game would get a number of sequels as a result of its popularity, as well as spin-off titles such as the Mega Man X series, Mega Man Legends, Mega Man Battle Network, and so on! Mega Man would even appear in other crossover titles and fighting games - including the Marvel Vs Capcom games and Super Smash Bros Ultimate!

Happy 35 years, Mega Man!

City Hunter Live Action Film Coming to Netflix in 2024

 

GET WILD AND TOUGH! Looks like the sweeper and Mokkori adventures will be coming to Netflix in a Japanese live action film, as Netflix Japan has tweeted and announced that a “City Hunter” live action movie is coming in 2024 - with Ryohei Suzuki, aka Hentai Kamen, playing the part of Ryo Saeba himself!

No other details have been released yet, but this is definitely something to look forward to in the next two years!

RIP Ichiro Mizuki

 

One of the greatest singers of Japanese pop culture has sadly gone on to the next world, as Ichirou Mizuki -  better known to Tokusatsu and Super Robot fans as “Aniki”, has passed away at the age of 74 after battling lung cancer.

His official Twitter account confirmed the sad news, and those who remember his songs for the likes of Mazinger Z and Voltes V are left mourning the loss of a legend

ICYMI: Capcom Officially Reveals Street Fighter 6 Release Date and New Characters in The Game Awards

 

Come the middle of next year, it'll be time for Street Fighter fans to upgrade to the next instalment at last - as the official release date for "Street Fighter 6" was confirmed by Capcom (after accidentally being leaked almost a day earlier via the PS Store). 

The game will be out on June 2, 2023 for the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Steam, and will be offered in three different packages as seen above with Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition, and Ultimate Edition.

Check out the Pre-Order Trailer released during The Game Awards a few days ago, featuring the newly revealed characters as seen above with the key art that include the returning Dee Jay and three new fighters in Manon, Marisa, and JP.

Tekken 8 Debuts New Key Art and Gameplay Trailer

 

Premiering during this year's The Game Awards and showing off some new story and gameplay footage for the highly anticipated new entry, Bandai Namco released a new trailer for "Tekken 8" - which focuses on the Mishima rivalry legacy anew as Heihachi Mishima is gone and now Kazuya Mishima is aiming to take over everything - with only his son Jin Kazama standing in his way to end the blood feud once and for all.

The world of Video Games was celebrated with another successful instalment of the annual "The Game Awards", and once again host Geoff Keighley presented some superb guests and reveals - among them being his good friend and legendary gaming developer Hideo Kojima! Together with his company Kojima Productions, the creator of the Metal Gear franchise was ready to unveil to the world his next big project coming to PS5, and that of course turned out to be the long awaited sequel to Death Stranding - currently going under the working title "DS2" or "Death Stranding 2"!

Four Years Ago, The First “Avengers: Endgame” Teaser Was Released

 

In what seemed like only yesterday but actually was released four years ago this day - Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, and The Russo Brothers unleashed the very first trailer and title reveal to the then unnamed fourth Avengers film - which was revealed to be “Avengers: Endgame” at the end of a teaser that was built upon the fallout of “Avengers: Infinity War” in which Thanos succeeded in eliminating half of life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In many ways it’s ironic that we look back at this moment in movie history and relate it to what has happened thus far - the world is continuing to cope and rise back up following a pandemic that, similar to The Snap, has changed life as we know it and is eerily similar to what the characters in the film had to do after that and post-Blip.

Netflix Lines Up the Cast of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery With New Character Posters

 

Arriving on the streaming service just a few days before Christmas, Netflix has released a set of new character posters for "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery" - the sequel to the 2019 mystery film "Knives Out" and once again seeing Daniel Craig reprise his role as private detective Benoit Blanc.

Four years after the release of the amazing animated film "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse", Sony Pictures and Marvel are ready to promote the long awaited sequel to that Academy Award winning movie with the very first trailer to "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" - which reunites Miles Morales with Gwen Stacy and the rest of the gang as the meet new friends, face new foes, and try to save the multiverse from a new threat.

As shared through social media channels like Facebook, a new image has been shared featuring Miles and Gwen sitting together upside down while wearing their respective Spidey suits - with the caption stating that a "new view from across the Spider-Verse" will be coming in 12.13, aka December 13 and that will probably mean the trailer will be out by then. Stay tuned!

Hasbro and Paramount Pictures Unleash the First Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Trailer

 

In 2023 worlds will finally collide and two fan favorite Transformers franchises will meet in the big screen for the very first time as the classic G1 inspired bots come face to face with the Beast Wars era of characters in “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” - which will be directed by Steven Caple Jr. and is a direct sequel to 2018’s Bumblebee.

HBO Releases New Posters For The Last of Us

 

In just over a month’s time, HBO will be streaming the live-action TV series adaptation of “The Last of Us” - one of the most acclaimed game franchises by Naughty Dog and PlayStation which will be directed by Chernobyl director Craig Mazin and TLOU franchise director Neil Druckmann.

To further promote the release of the upcoming series, HBO has released new posters featuring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel and Ellie, along with a set of new character posters that you can take a look at here,

The Last of Us will start streaming on HBO on January 15.
