Happy Birthday in Heaven, Stan Lee!

December 28 will always hold a special place in the hearts of Marvel Comics fans and True Belivers, as this day would have marked the 101st birthday of the late, great Stan Lee!

Born Stanley Martin Lieber in 1922, the late comic book writer and publisher was responsible for co-creating some of the most iconic characters known in comics today - namely the X-Men, Fantastic Four, the Avengers, Hulk, Iron Man, and of course The Amazing Spider-Man. It’s also been five years since the legend’s passing - and we all miss him dearly as he was always a known presence and figurehead of Marvel and the comic industry in general who yelled “Excelsior” whenever he wanted to shout and cheer about something.

Happy Birthday in heaven Stan Lee!

Known for co-creating Marvel Comics characters such as Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, and the X-Men, the comic book writer and scribe became a figurehead and icon in popculture himself - and was also featured in a number of cameos and roles in many forms of media based on his works, especially the Marvel Studios films.

Happy Birthday to the late, great Stan Lee; Revisiting the cameos he made

It's still hard to believe that Stan "The Man" Lee passed away over a year ago - and the whole comic book and popculture world continues to mourn and miss the legendary comic creator to this day. While his legacy will always live on and be remembered, there won't be another recognizable figurehead in the merry world of Marvel that feels as powerful as him - he gave off that kind of aura that screamed like his famous catchphrase "EXCELSIOR" and made all us comic fans "True Believers" thanks to his contributions and part in bringing heroes like Spider-Man, Iron Man, The Avengers, The Hulk, X-Men, and so many more household names to life.

As a way to celebrate his life, here's a video showing every Stan Lee cameo the icon has made - from 1989 to 2019.

Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige pens tribute to Stan Lee

The passing of Stan Lee has been hard to many fans of the Marvel Comics' writer and legend, and even more so for those he has inspired to bring some of his greatest creations to life in the big screen. In a fitting tribute to "The Man" that was featured in Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige has written a farewell letter describing his final meeting with Stan.

“I went to his house to see him, and he reminisced about the cameos,” Feige writes of his last meeting with Lee. We were talking about what was coming up, always looking to the future. Did he know that his time was running out? I don’t know. In hindsight, he was slightly more wistful than I’d seen him before. He talked about the past more than I had ever heard him talk about the past. So maybe on some level, he knew."

Remembering Stan Lee - the legend who co-created Spider-Man and other Marvel heroes passes away

It's hard to imagine a world without Stan Lee. The man, famously known for helping bring to life and writing characters such as The Amazing Spider-Man, The X-Men, Fantastic Four, and The Avengers has left an everlasting mark in the world of popculture, and his iconic visage has been seen in all forms of media - whether it be a picture of him standing proud and jolly alongside one of his creations, or acting in a cameo role in one of Marvel's big blockbuster films.

Sadly on November 12, the world said goodbye to this icon and real-life hero - who passed away at 95 and left a lot of fans across the world sad and in deep mourning.

Whether you met him in person or saw him through different interviews conducted through the years, Stan definitely had that presence and character that made you feel awed at the things he did, as well as feeling at ease whenever he went into his storytelling mode phase. He was an entertainer, and gave a lot of people the ability to look beyond real world problems through the pages of comics - where his characters told stories that people could relate to despite having these impossible abilities that many dared to dream and only hoped to have in life. Over six decades since he created these heroes and left his mark in the comic industry and beyond, Stan has truly become a key figure we will always remember. We're all "True Believers" thanks to his contributions, and many generations of readers will always be indebted to his works for being AMAZING.

As a tribute, Marvel - the company he helped build up to what it is now, released a loving tribute that looks at "The Man" and his legacy to fans and colleagues worldwide.

Throwback Thursday: Iron Man turns 55 years old this year

As March winds down to a close and the world prepares for Holy Week proper, this final Throwback Thursday is perfect to revisit and celebrate the 55th Anniversary of one of the most iconic and popular superheroes in comics - The Invincible Iron Man! Apparently on this very month in 1963, Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, Don Heck, and Jack Kirby debuted the armored alter ego of Anthony "Tony" Stark on the pages of "Tales of Suspense #39". After suffering a chest wound and being abducted by terrorists who force him to build a weapon of mass destruction, Tony instead builds a powerful suit of armor that helps him escape his captors. Upon returning home, the experience changes him and he decides to become a superhero - adopting the name "Iron Man" and going through several adventures that sees him augment the armor over the years and become a founding member of Earth's Mightiest Heroes - The Avengers.

As the character's popularity soars to this day in comics and other forms of media, Iron Man is also the "heart and soul" of Marvel Studios' "Marvel Cinematic Universe" - with Robert Downey Jr. having played the role of Tony Stark and his heroic alter ego since the eponymous superhero film debuted ten years ago in cinemas. As Avengers: Age of Ultron prepares to hit theaters in less than a month - we should be thankful the Armored Avenger helped pave the way for superheroes to be celebrated as they are today! Happy 55th Anniversary, Iron Man!
