Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton return as their respective Batmans for “Flashpoint”

Batfans who have been looking for a sign or miracle that two former Batman actors would officially reprise their roles have gotten their prayers answered, as Variety reports that Ben Affleck AND Michael Keaton are returning as their respective versions of Batman for director Andy Muschietti’s “Flashpoint”! An adaptation of the 2011 alternate timeline Flash centered storyline that set up the DC Universe reboot initiative in “The New 52”, the film will see The Flash - once again played by Ezra Miller - making a time travel decision using the Speed Force which will seemingly impact the DC Films universe... And in some way traveling the DC Multiverse (as seen in the Arrowverse) where he’ll be encountering these two Batmen.

Affleck, who last played Batman/ Bruce Wayne in “Justice League”, will be returning the role for the first time since stepping away from starring and directing “The Batman” - which went on to Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves respectively. Michael Keaton has been heavily rumored to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/ Batman from “Batman” and “Batman Returns”, & now that’s officially confirmed too.

In the story by Variety, Muschietti said about Ben Affleck’s Batman and his relationship with Ezra Miller’s Flash:

“His Batman has a dichotomy that is very strong, which is his masculinity—because of the way he looks, and the imposing figure that he has, and his jawline —but he’s also very vulnerable,” Muschietti said in an interview. “He knows how to deliver from the inside out, that vulnerability. He just needs a story that allows him to bring that contrast, that balance.” Affleck got the script at the end of last week and agreed this week to join the project. 

“He’s a very substantial part of the emotional impact of the movie. The interaction and relationship between Barry and Affleck’s Wayne will bring an emotional level that we haven’t seen before,” the director added. "It’s Barry’s movie, it’s Barry’s story, but their characters are more related than we think. They both lost their mothers to murder, and that’s one of the emotional vessels of the movie. That’s where the Affleck Batman kicks in.” “I’m glad to be collaborating with someone who has been on both sides of the camera, too,” Muschietti said. “He understands.”

With DC FanDome happening this weekend, we can expect more DC Films news and other exciting announcements to happen! Flashpoint is expected to be released on June 2022.

DC brings back “Tales From the Dark Multiverse” w/ “Flashpoint” and “Batman: Hush”

Set to return a year after exploring parallel worlds in the “Dark Multiverse” in which well known storylines and characters branched out to darker paths, DC Comics (via a report by Newsarama) has announced that the popular “Tales From the Dark Multiverse” series will be returning this November - with two newly announced one shots that tackle two well known sagas - “Flashpoint” and “Batman: Hush” - With covers drawn by artist David Marquez.

In “Tales From the Dark Multiverse - Flashpoint” - imagine if The Flash never corrected the events of the alternate timeline, and the Reverse Flash was left to do his dirty work? What would happen to Thomas Wayne - the Batman of this reality - and the war between the Atlanteans and Amazons raging the world? That question will be answered by Bryan Hitch - who serves as writer and artist for the story.

In “Tales From the Dark Multiverse - Batman: Hush” - we are shown a world where Thomas Elliot ruined Bruce Wayne’s life as a child - leading to a series of events that brings out a dark and twisted Dark Knight called “Batman: The Silenced”. The story will be written by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and drawn by artist Dexter Soy.

Tales From the Dark Multiverse returns this November, with Batman: Hush on sale November 3 and Flashpoint on November 17.

Ben Affleck speaks out on his DC Films future: "I want to direct a Batman movie"

It looks like Ben Affleck may not be quite done with his tenure with the Caped Crusader after all, putting a rest to all of those rumors that the Academy Award winning director of "Argo" and "The Town" would be stepping away from his duties as Batman of the DC Extended Universe after this year's Justice League and the rumored Flashpoint movie. In a recent interview with Daily Sabah, the Hollywood star and film director put his future as the current Dark Knight of cinema into question and that anything was possible at this point.

"I want to direct a Batman movie, and I never got a script that I was happy with, so they are starting over and writing another script. And right now, I think a lot of different possibilities I think for the way the DC Universe could go, and I will just follow my interests in pursing that. And I know that I love working with this group of people, and it was a real joy for me to make this movie."

So there it is. Ben's still itching to direct a Batman movie even after stepping away from directing duties for the first solo flick that's now gone to director Matt Reeves. Will he still be in that film or are the rumored replacements like Jake Gyllenhaal and Jon Hamm going to be considered? We can only wait and see for the future of DC Films.

Justice League New 52 begins in DC Animated Movies with Justice League: War

It's not yet SDCC yet, and not big news comes for DC fans! Looks like this DC Universe Animated Original Movie based on the Pre-New 52 storyline "Flashpoint" is indeed the clincher for the old guard, as the next film to feature the Justice League will indeed bring in the New 52 Universe to the animated movie fold!

Reported by Newsarama and Tweeted by Gary Miereanu/ SuperPRGuy, the first DCU animated film hitting in 2014 after Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox will be called "Justice League: War", and will be based on the first storyline of "Justice League" in the New 52 universe, namely "Origin" by the creative powerhouse team of Geoff Johns, Jim Lee, and Scott Williams. The news breaks a few days just before the San Diego Comic Con, and officially ushers in the rebooted DC Universe, which began in 2011, in animated movie form. Miereanu also confirmed that actor Jason O'Mara, who played Albert Wesker in the Paul W.S. Anderson Resident Evil movies, will be voicing the role of the Dark Knight himself... Batman!

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox Trailer released

Set to be released on July of this year, Warner Bros. has released the very first trailer to their next and latest DC Universe Animated Original Movie - Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. Based on the Pre-New 52 storyline "Flashpoint" that led to the reboot of the DC Universe, the movie centers on an alternate reality which The Flash/ Barry Allen unwittingly creates, and causes him to team up with the heroes of this world, including a different and grittier kind of Batman, in order to restore his world back to the way it was.

Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy says Flashpoint is DC's next animated movie

Those looking for more Flash centered features or lead on animated films to DC The New 52 may finally get their wish after all, and as the tagline goes: "Everything will change in a Flash".

While being interviewed by Comic Book Club, famous Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy said he's currently doing work on DC Comics' next animated film feature, revealing that it's "Flashpoint" - based on the 2011 storyline by Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert that centers around Barry Allen/ The Flash and an alternative timeline where everything is not what it seems. If that's true, then the popular actor who voiced the Caped Crusader in Batman: The Animated Series and Batman: Arkham City will be voicing the Batman from Flashpoint, who's revealed to be none other than Thomas Wayne, Bruce's father who survived the mugging attack instead of his son. While there has yet to be an official announcement from DC Entertainment, it's a safe bet that it will be coming real soon. USA Today talks with Jim Lee about the new DC Universe!

Within the week and whether people like or not, DC Comics will make history by bringing an end to their old continuity of comics and ushering in a new one that they have affectionately called "the new 52", which is comprised of 52 new #1 books that will release throughout the month of September and bring forth the new DC Universe. It begins this Wednesday actually with the release of Flashpoint #5 and the all-new Justice League #1, so to promote this milestone event even further, USA Today has gone ahead and conducted an interview with the artist of the latter issue and co-publisher of DC Comics, Jim Lee! DC Comics reboots their continuity, with landmark day digital distribution!

Looks like the rumors weren't kidding after all... And what news to kick off the first day of June!

Via USA Today and their own blog The Source, DC Comics has officially announced that beginning this 31st of August, most of their titles will be renumbered and restructured to be released on the same day both in print and digital media altogether. Through its 76-year long history of publishing characters like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and The Flash, the company will revamp their titles for "a more modern and diverse 21st century"

The first book announced and to be launched in this new #1 direction will be Justice League #1, to be written by DC Entertainment scribe and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, while illustrations will be handled by DC Comics Co-Publisher Jim Lee. This will be the only issue, aside from the final issue of Flashpoint (the storyline the ends the old DC universe continuity and brings forth the new), that will see publication on August 31, offering a new beginning for new and contemporary DC readers to catch up on. A First Look at DC's "Flashpoint" Poster!

In case you missed it, DC has releases the first pencils of what looks to be the first cover/ poster promoting their next big event this summer - "Flashpoint". Penned by legendary writer Geoff Johns and illustrated by Andy Kubert, this five issue miniseries will chronicle the drastic time altering changes in the DC Universe that affect our world, and it ties directly to an event involving The Flash. In effect, everyone and anyone you know in the DCU won't be the same. Next to the main story, a series of tie-ins have been announced, expanding the tale and giving readers a chance to catch up with their favorite characters... who are barely recognizable at this point. DC Presents "Green Lantern/ Flashpoint" comic for Free Comic Book Day!

On the first Saturday of May, readers and hobbyists will be treated to free books from the various creators and publishers of the comic book industry, as they celebrate another year of "Free Comic Book Day"! The event aims to thank loyal fans who have committed themselves to the hobby, while also attracting younger and newer readers to join in and see what the industry could offer to them! For 2011, DC Comics will be giving away a book that not only promotes the upcoming Green Lantern flick starring Ryan Reynolds, but also their next big event for the year that fans will have a chance to preview! Looking sharp, no? As posted in DC's official blog The Source, the Green Lantern/ Flashpoint book is a double feature no DC fan would want to miss come Free Comic Book Day! With both stories written by superstar scribe Geoff Johns, the GL segment is a reprint of Green Lantern #30, which was part of the "Secret Origin" storyline and illustrated by artist Ivan Reis, depicting the tale on how Hal Jordan first received his power ring. Flashpoint, on the other hand, is DC's latest event of the year penned by Johns and drawn by Andy Kubert, which happens to revolve around The Flash and something happening to him that causes catastrophic changes around the DC Universe.
