NYCC 2024: Batman Hush 2 Confirmed, Jeph Loeb, Jim Lee, and Team Start With Batman #158 This March 2025

 

After longstanding rumors of a follow up and that the two iconic comic book creators would be teaming up again to work on the Caped Crusader, writer Jeph Loeb and DC Comics president, publisher, and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee are teaming up again to take on a sequel over twenty years in the making!

As confirmed during their DC Comics panel at this year's New York Comic Con, Loeb, Lee, and their frequent collaborators Scott Williams and Alex Sinclair are reteaming for "Batman Hush 2" or "H2SH" -c the follow-up to their critically acclaimed 12 issue run that began with 2002's Batman #608. That new storyline will begin with Batman #158 this March 2025.

For those who have never read Batman: Hush, that story has been collected and printed in several formats and trades including the new DC Compact comics series, and DC Comics will run a Facsimile Edition run of that series from Batman #608 to 619 starting January 2025!

The Dawn of DC era brings forth a newly relaunched ongoing series for the Amazon Princess with a brand new “Wonder Woman #1” by the team of Tom King and Daniel Sampere - and  DC Comics’ own Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee is lending his superstar talents to bring a unique Second Printing variant cover - which completes his “DC Trinity” series of covers that began with Batman #608 and Superman #204 was back in the early 2000’s!

Batman Hush Batman DC Multiverse 12” Scale Statue Coming From McFarlane Toys

 

After unleashing the 7” scale DC Multiverse action figure to the world, Todd McFarlane and McFarlane Toys are getting to releasing their next collectible based on Jim Lee’s legendary iteration of Batman from “Batman: Hush” with a 12” scale statue that is now available for pre-order at the McFarlane Toys website!

McFarlane Toys Unveils Hush from “Batman: Hush” as Upcoming DC Multiverse figure!

 

Todd McFarlane and his toy manufacturing company McFarlane Toys are bringing one of Batman’s newest villains to life in action in figure form - as the once enigmatic and sinister Hush will be getting 7” DC Multiverse treatment! 

First appearing in the 2002 storyline “Batman: Hush” by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee,  the alter ego of Bruce Wayne’s childhood friend turned criminal Thomas Elliot is a well known rogue to modern day Batfans - and now he’s been teased to get the new figure treatment by McFarlane Toys soon. Unfortunately due to new WB/ DC merchandise making policies, the firearms are replaced by knives instead.

We’ll be seeing more of this DC Multiverse figure and other new ones soon.

Batman Catwoman #2 Variant Covers revealed, Issue arrives on January 19

 

With issue #1 out in stores this week and continuing the run Tom King started in Batman since DC Rebirth began in 2016, DC has revealed the variant covers for "Batman Catwoman" issue #2 - which features artworks by series artist Clay Mann, and rich alternates by DC Comics publisher Jim Lee and Travis Charest.

Batman Catwoman #2 will be released in comic book stores and digital on January 19, 2021.

DC FanDome becomes a TWO DAY event; New poster by Jim Lee revealed

In what is certainly shaping up to become the definite virtual event for DC fans worldwide, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. have announced that "DC FanDome", which was originally supposed to be a one day, has now expanded to become a 2 DAY global event - now split into two beginning with this weekend's "DC FanDome: Hall of Heroes" on Saturday August 22, and then September 12th for "DC FanDome: Explore The Multiverse"! The two events will all be happening within a 24-Hour span - so DC enthusiasts best take note of their respective time zones and schedules!

In addition to DC FanDome expanding to a second whole day event, DC Publisher and comic book artist Jim Lee designed a new set of images that have gone viral in the web - and you can see all three lined up above drawn by the mega artist (as posted by Twitter user Mikhail Villareal)! Jim Lee shows off his penciled cover for the Joker 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Special on Friday The 13th

It's a quiet Friday The 13th and not much has been festive due to concerns over the corona virus, but artist and DC publisher Jim Lee took to Facebook and his social media pages to spread a little festive anticipation for fans of Batman and Joker, as the Clown Prince of Crime's 80th Anniversary is this year and Lee has drawn his variant cover piece for the "Joker 80th Anniversary 100=Page Super Special". As you can see above, the cover pays homage to the 1970's, with the Jester of Mayhem leading the pack of Batman rogues that include Catwoman, Two-Face, The Riddler, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, Ra's Al Ghul, and Man-Bat.

The Joker 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Special issue is scheduled to be released this April 29th worldwide.

Jim Lee posts his completed “Catwoman 80th Anniversary” 100-Page Super Spectacular #1 cover

To say this is “Purrrffect” is an understatement, but Jim Lee took to his social media pages like Facebook and posted his 2000’s variant cover for the upcoming “Catwoman 80th Anniversary” 100-Page Super Special #1!

As you can tell from the title, the one-shot issue celebrates the 80th Anniversary and legacy of Catwoman - better known as Selina Kyle and the on-and-off love interest/ frenemy of The Dark Knight himself, Batman. In Jim Lee’s variant piece - it’s a tribute to the groundbreaking early 2000’s Batman storyline “Hush”, which saw Bruce Wayne/ Batman getting serious with Selina/ Catwoman in the midst of a case that saw the titular antagonist introduced for the first time and pitting the Caped Crusader against his greatest enemies. Batman also revealed his identity to Catwoman for the very first time in official Post-Crisis continuity.

The 80th Anniversary Catwoman special will arrive in comic book stores on April 15th.

ICYMI: Batman: Hush getting DC Universe Original Movie animated film in 2019

One of the most iconic Batman storylines will FINALLY get the long awaited animated "DC Universe Original Movie" it deserves, as DC Entertainment formally announced in their San Diego Comic-Con panel that "Batman: Hush" - the 12 part Batman storyline written by Jeph Loeb and drawn by Jim Lee that ran from "Batman #608 to Batman #619" and was formally collected into trades and hardcovers released by DC Comics through the years. In the story, Batman faces a new and mysterious opponent, the titular "Hush", who manipulates the Dark Knight into a series of confrontations with some of his deadliest adversaries. While that is happening, he and Catwoman share a romantic spark and get closer than ever.

The animated movie is part of other upcoming DC animated films that include "Wonder Woman: Bloodlines", "The Reign of the Supermen", and "Justice League vs The Fatal Five". All of these are expected to be released in 2019 - which also happens to be the same year Batman celebrates his 80th anniversary. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

SDCC '18: Action Comics recognized as longest running superhero series by Guinness Book of World Records

Superman celebrates his 80th year of existence this year since he first appeared in the pages of "Action Comics #1" in 1938, and that iconic start presented by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster is recognized with a great honor presented to DC Comics co-publishers Dan DiDio and Jim Lee - who received from the Guinness World Records at the San Diego Comic Con the award for "longest running superhero series" of 80 years (As featured in the Superman Facebook page)

That is an impressive feat and a timely award for the Man Of Steel - who just got a new lease of comic life with a new "Superman" ongoing series by Brian Michael Bendis and Ivan Reis. Bendis is also writing "Action Comics" beginnining with issue #1001 coming next week.

Congratulations and Happy 80 years, Superman!

Action Comics #1000 will feature the return of Superman's classic look and red trunks

The month of April will be a MILESTONE for DC Comics and comic history in general, as not only will Action Comics - the series that introduced the heroic character of Superman - count to its thousandth issue, but also mark the return of the heroes iconic classic costume! Yes, the red trunks will be returning to the Big Blue Boy Scout's wardrobe, and here it is above as drawn by none other than DC co-publisher and artist extraordinaire Jim Lee! The red trunks and classic costume were removed back in 2011 when DC Entertainment launched "The New 52" and rebooted most of its history, but eventually started bringing back elements of established continuity with "DC Rebirth" in 2016. Now Superman is returning to the look that defines him best - and that's great news for fans of the Man of Steel.

Action Comics #1000 will also feature the DC Comics' debut of Brian Michael Bendis, who will write a 10-page back up story for the issue with art by Jim Lee! Justice League: Blu-Ray Steelbook cover Motion Poster

Leaked online sometime during the holidays, the recently seen Blu-Ray steelbook cover for "Justice League" (by Jim Lee and Alex Sinclair) has a motion poster featured at "The Aquaman Shrine" Twitter page! This pretty much adds the smoke effects and bells and whistles to the League as they stand amidst a battlefield - ready to take on anything that comes their way to defend humanity and save the world together.

No official release date has been given yet for the home video release of "Justice League".

Justice League: Blu-Ray Steelbook cover by Jim Lee surfaces online

After debuting in theaters over a month ago, Justice League has pretty much ran its course and is prepared to get ready for its inevitable "home media" release some time early next year. That being said, what looks to be the Steelbook cover for the Blu-Ray 3D and Blu-Ray release has surfaced c/o Comic Book Movie and Amazon India - and shows the entire line-up of heroes from Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, and Cyborg all looking around their surroundings - as drawn by DC Comics Co-Publisher and superstar artist, Jim Lee.

There's no official word yet on when the film will officially be released on Digital Media. Blu-Ray, and DVD - but the best bet is sometime on March or April 2018. The listing from Best Buy projects it for that period.

Dark Days: The Forge is out this week. DO NOT MISS IT.

Finally out this week and bringing a whole can of mysteries and worms into the DC Universe during its Rebirth phase, "Dark Days: The Forge" is the first of two one-shot prologues that precede Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's upcoming miniseries event "Dark Nights: Metal" - and the setup is just full of all of those things that will make and DC Comics reader and Batman fan scratch their heads and piece together the clues and mystery in a big way. Written by Snyder and featuring a talent pool of artists that includes Andy Kubert and Jim Lee, this is one game changer that will leave you gut punched at the reveal in the end of the issue, and I can't wait to pick up the next chapter in "Dark Days: The Casting" soon enough. If you want spoilers, Bleeding Cool has them but SPOILER WARNING there so click at your own risk.

ICYMI: DC Comics officially reveals "Dark Nights: Metal" series by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo

In case you missed the live stream event held at the Fan Expo Dallas event, DC Comics has officially announced that superstar writer Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo are teaming up once again to bring a DC Universe event with Batman in the center - "Dark Nights: Metal"! Shown during a panel presentation along with DC Entertainment Co-Publishers Dan DiDio and Jim Lee, the upcoming new series will begin this August and follows the prelude books "Dark Days: The Forge" and "Dark Days: The Casting" -  which will both be released on June and July respectively.

This will be Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's reunuon project following the conclusion of their critically acclaimed run on Batman for The New 52. It has The Dark Knight in the center of a mystery that is running around the DC Rebirth universe... And somehow involves Hawkman and Nth Metal.

Dark Days announced by DC Comics for the DC Rebirth era

The first "Big Event" news for the Rebirth era of DC Comics is on hand, as the publisher revealed via its recently June solicitations (as seen in Newsarama) that their "warm up" to the big storyline will happen with two one shots entitled "Dark Days" - written by Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV, with artwork by Jim Lee, Andy Kubert, John Romita Jr., and more. "Dark Days: The Forge" happens on June 14, while "Dark Days: The Casting" will be released on July 12.

The cover to "The Forge" looks to be centered around The Dark Knight detective himself - Batman. While no specifics were given on what the plot is for "Dark Days" - it is according to CBR set to "reveal the dark underbelly of the DCU" and lead on to an unspecified DC Event.

Batman v Superman: Empire Magazine covers revealed

Hitting stands this week, Empire Magazine has revealed the two variant covers for their March 2016 issue that spotlights none other than Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment's big DC Films superhero showdown flick in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice".

The two covers feature Ben Affleck as Batman, and the other of course is Henry Cavill as Superman.

A third illustrated retailers variant cover was released and drawn by Jim Lee, featuring the titanic battle going on between The Dark Knight and Man of Steel. The issue hits stands on January 28, Thursday.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25.
