Dunkirk: Theatrical poster and trailer released

Set to be one of the most epic war drama films to expect next year, Warner Bros. and "The Dark Knight Trilogy" and "Inception" director Christopher Nolan have released the first theatrical poster and brand new trailer to "Dunkirk" - the World War II era film that tells the story of the Dunkirk evacuation and starring Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, and Kenneth Branagh.

After wrapping up "The Dark Knight Trilogy" with"The Dark Knight Rises" and now overseeing this year's "Man of Steel" as executive producer, Christopher Nolan has cemented his legacy as one of the best known directors in Hollywood to date. Besides resurrecting the Batman film franchise, the British director and screenwriter has also directed successful films in the form of "Memento" and "Inception", and has collaborated time and again with several actors and actresses he has used throughout his many films.

That being said, it's no surprise that Nolan's next film will be bigger than ever, as Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. have officially announced a joint production between the two studios to co-produce and distribute the director's next film - "Interstellar". To be released in conventional theaters and IMAX format (a technology that Nolan helped master and pioneer use of successfully with his Dark Knight films), Interstellar has been given a clear release date of November 7, 2014, and "will depict a heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest reaches of our scientific understanding".

Inception: Revisiting the dream after two years

Inception is a masterpiece, that much is and always be certain. Carefully crafted by the guiding hand that brought us Memento, The Prestige, and the Dark Knight trilogy, Christopher Nolan brought a unique film that explored the concept of dream and reality while injecting it with a tale that makes it one of the most memorable movie experiences of all time. With the director's latest offering "The Dark Knight Rises" just around the corner this week, it's literally been two years since his previous film's release on just about the same time frame.

I look back at the significance of Inception because it still carries a following to this day. Exploring the corners and recesses of the film in a wonderfully woven tale of heist and espionage, the film showcases a tremendous amount of talent and casting lead by Leonardo DiCaprio. The acting is top notch, and there's plenty of excitement along with compelling narrative that's not hard to grasp at all despite the sci-fi concept. Nolan makes it simple enough to understand, and it works to his strengths and the audience's pleasure. 

It's also because of Inception that we're going to be seeing stars like Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy, and Marion Cotillard back and taking on other significant roles in The Dark Knight Rises. I cannot stress how much you need to revisit this film if you're a fan, or if you haven't seen it yet... You Should.

Reminiscing about Inception...

A year ago today, I reviewed one of the most brilliant and majestic films I've ever had the chance of witnessing in cinema, and it was born out of the creative imagination of the same man who gave us "The Dark Knight" to boot. British director Christopher Nolan unleashed in the month of July 2010 "Inception", a film that follows a man named Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio), a man wanted for murder, on the run, and who specializes in navigating through people's minds and steals valuable information from their subconscious. When Cobb is given the chance to regain his old life and go back to his children, he assembles a team to do a job that is seemingly impossible - "Inception". Instead of stealing information, he must plant it and provide inspiration to his target. Once it premiered in theaters, Inception quickly became an instant hit and success. It became the talk of the town and internet for months, and gradually as the year came to a close, it became my film of the year pick for 2010. Everything about Nolan's film here spoke brilliance, originality, and Oscar winning material, and while it didn't win the Academy for best film, it did win some achievements related to effects and cinematography. Even though a year has passed and it's Harry Potter season now, Nolan's next film, The Dark Knight Rises, is currently in the works and being hotly anticipated. If you haven't seen or touched any of the man's works, do yourself a favor and go see this and his Batman films now.

The Dark Knight Rises Update: New cast roles revealed!

After quite a wait and a long period of secrecy, director Christopher Nolan finally breaks his silence and reveals two roles for his next Bat flick, The Dark Knight Rises. As reported in Slash Film, his Inception star, Tom Hardy, finally has a role for this movie. Take note, this may be a surprise to some when you see the picture below of who the English actor is going to play, but Nolan has already decided on it, and here it is:

Yes, Tom Hardy will be playing Bane, the villain who singlehandedly broke the Dark Knight's back in the "Knightfall" storyline during the 90's. The character was also used in "Batman and Robin", but that outing didn't turn out so well for the character. Some of you may find this role casting as strange as I did, but I respect the director enough to know he may have something up his sleeve with the choice. We'll just have to wait and see how it turns out once production for the movie begins and photos and trailers show the action.

In other news, a female lead has finally been chosen, and Anne Hathaway was given Nolan's blessing to play Selina Kyle, who many around the world know better as Catwoman. As one of primary characters in Batman and Bruce Wayne's world, Catwoman is the one of the few characters who has been a villain and ally to the Dark Knight, as well as a lover who has earned his respect and admiration. As the person to play Ms. Kyle, Hathaway is a beautiful and smart actress for the park, and I think Nolan has left the role in good hands with her casting. The Devil Wears Prada star ironically also worked with the late Heath Ledger in Brokeback Mountain, who we all know played the most iconic representation of The Joker in 2008's The Dark Knight, for which he won a posthumous Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. If you want to get an idea of how she acts, she'll be appeared recently in Love and Other Drugs alongside Jake Gyllenhaal (another Brokeback co-star). Knowing Nolan's way of directing and picking actors, I have faith on what's going to come with TDKR, and this will be an exciting wait for the next Batman movie. An Alternate Inception Poster Revealed...

Many people loved Christopher Nolan's Inception, and I happen to be among the numbers. That film has done wonders for the film industry, as well as reigniting people's curiosity as to how the dreamscape works. With its home video release fast approaching, it's only natural that fans get a taste of "behind-the-scenes" material related to the movie, and here's one released by SnapTag and shown over at Slash Film and NolanFans - an alternate and unused Inception poster!

Pretty slick, eh? The final versions are still great, but this one would have also been ok had it been used. Dig the tagline too.

I don't get to watch a lot of South Park nowadays, but fortunately, the web, Screen Rant, and the show's official website have served up some hilarious new bits to serve up, and it involves parodying a certain movie by director Christopher Nolan - Inception! In the 205th episode of South Park called "Insheeption", the satirical comedy show takes a stab at last July's hit flick, and watch the chaos unravel in a dream within a dream! Inception is getting a pretty Limited Edition Blu-Ray release!

Inception was a masterpiece. There was no doubt in anyone's mind that director Christopher Nolan succeeded in mesmerizing his audience in a world where the subconscious can be manipulated and the line between dreams and reality can get real blurry. That said, it's inevitable that fans of this movie will want to take it home once it reaches DVD and Blu-Ray, but there's been no official word yet from Warner Bros. on the release date just yet. Fortunately, news spreads a bit faster than usual on the interwebz, and thanks to websites Play.com and Screen Rant, people can now get their first look at the Limited Edition "Triple Play" release of Inception!


Oh yes, that baby you see above is the LE Inception package. According to Play.com, it sports a nice looking aluminum briefcase, similar to the ones in the movie carrying the dream machine device Domm Cobb and his posse use. Movie art cards are also included, as well as a PASIV (Portable Automated Somnacin IntraVenous) Device User Manual. The most distinguishable collectible, however, has got to be the spinning top totem, which has become a symbolic representation of "Inception" itself. Also packed in are the Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital Copy versions of the movie! Modes included in the film are exceptional too, with the Blu-Ray containing a "Maximum Movie Mode" featuring Chris Nolan and star Leonardo DiCaprio taking viewers behind the scenes and beyond as they watch the movie! Other extras included are the short prologue comics "The Cobol Job" and "The Big Under", as well as a "Dream Of Consciousness" featurette, 15 Focus Pods, and a Photo Gallery for more visual eye candy. That said, this is enough to plant ideas in the mind of fans, so this is definitely worth the price of admission for Inception fans!

Inception's Joseph Gordon-Levitt Is A Street Fighter Player!

Going on its third week, Inception is still an amazing beast on cinemas. Still the talk of the town and full of the kind of energy and excitement one finds in Christopher Nolan films, you can also owe the film's success up to the amazing talent and cast who portray their parts in this movie so well. Next to Leonardo DiCaprio's amazing performance as Dom Cobb, the other guy who impressed me so much in this flick is none other than Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who plays Arthur, the partner and Point Man in Cobb's team. Having also starred in other recent blockbusters like G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra and (500) Days Of Summer, JGL is one of those young acting guys who got their big start as kids with TV Commercials and shows. Later on, his career bloomed when he appeared as the lead in Disney's Angels In The Outfield, and acting as the character Tommy Solomon from the classic sitcom series 3rd Rock From The Sun, a part that he is still known for today. He quit acting for a short while, but he came back and started acting in independent movies like The Lookout, which was another film I enjoyed. Today, Mr. Gordon-Levitt has cemented himself as one of Hollywood's biggest rising stars in the industry, and if you've seen 500 Days and Inception, you'll know why I'm a big fan of the actor. Recently though, it has come to my attention that JGL is, surprisingly, a Street Fighter fan! He revealed this little factoid during an interview in the Jimmy Fallon show, and how he tells the tale made me realize how much respect I have for this guy alone. Batman 3 Update: Rumor Mill Amidst The SDCC!

Rumors are swirling abound as to what the next direction Christopher Nolan's 3rd Batman film will take? Will it have something to do with a riddle perhaps?

Enewsi just posted two interesting news bits that involve Warner Bros. and their "rumored" plans for the sequel to The Dark Knight. One goes with a domain purchase of "wheresbrucewayne.com", indicating plans are afoot to create another big viral marketing campaign to promote the movie like the previous film. The second rumor involves the villain to be for Batman 3, and hints strongly suggest that Edward Nygma will take on Bruce Wayne's alter ego, assuming his iconic and unstable persona as The Riddler. Having just starred in Chris Nolan's mind boggling sci-fi action flick Inception, actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt is rumored to be on the top of the list to play The Riddler. Right now, these repots are all unconfirmed and speculations at best. Let's pray some official news comes for the new bat-flick soon, hopefully even a tease at this week's San Diego Comic-Con!

Journey Into The Mind Early With Inception: The Cobol Job.

If you viewed my recent and spoiler free movie review post about Christopher Nolan's latest flick Inception, then you know how much I enjoyed the film and its presentation from start to finish. Suffice to say, I'll be going on multiple screenings soon since the movie will be launching in theaters officially in a few hours, but for those who need a sample, a taste, or some kind of resolution if you were fortunate to see the premiere of the movie too - you are in luck. Apparently, there is a "Prequel Comic" to the film that has gone online in Yahoo, and I got this little tidbit from an article at Ain't It Cool News!

Titled Inception: The Cobol Job, it's an online prequel comic book that deals with events that happen just before the opening of the film. I'm sure it's required reading for those intrigued with the Inception universe, but I would advise those who haven't caught the movie yet to watch it first before diving into this one. Otherwise, you can read it by clicking on the picture above. Go on and journey into the mind early... if you dare!

Movie Review: Inception

"Your Mind Is The Scene Of The Crime..."

That tagline echoed deep within the recesses of my own head whenever I thought of Inception – Christopher Nolan’s next film project after his epic Batman movie sequel that was “The Dark Knight”. In all fairness, I’ll be the first to admit that the ideas that the British director presents to the Hollywood table sound totally wild and daring, but he has a certain kind of air about him that makes you, the viewer, believe that he can make the impossible possible, and since my introduction to his directing style and work with the film “Memento”, I’ve been a big Chris Nolan believer and fan through and through. My faith in the man only increased when he was commissioned by Warner Bros. to do the Batman reboot, and we all know how that turned out. Pretty much the rest was history after his stint there, and Chris has been on a role lately. With Inception officially launching in theaters by the end of this week, there’s no doubt in my mind people are going to be talking about this movie left and right. How do I know this? I’ve seen it of course!

That’s right. Last night, in the midst of a wild and unpredictable storm, I traveled all the way to my local IMAX theater to catch the hotly anticipated premiere of Inception. It was truly a privilege and an exciting experience to be among the first to get the opportunity to see Chris Nolan’s latest flick, and as I mentioned earlier, you will not be disappointed once you see this in conventional theaters in a few days time as of this posting. This will be a none spoiler review, and I’ll just be talking in a general manner about what you can expect about this film… a film I and many of my peers consider to be a top contender for an Academy Award nomination in the next Oscars.

Inception Is In The Mind...

Iron Man 2 may be opening this week to some good numbers, but let's not forget the other movies hitting later this year, including one original flick from the director who gave us a successful reboot of the Bat-movie franchise - Inception. The new poster that debuted on Slashfilm a few days ago kicks ass, and for those who don't know the score, director Christopher Nolan's next film will star Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Cillian Murphy, Ken Watanabe, and Michael Caine, and if the casting power hasn't already gotten you excited, maybe the official synopsis will.

"Acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan directs an international cast in an original sci-fi actioner that travels around the globe and into the intimate and infinite world of dreams. Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. After watching Shutter Island, I'm convinced Leo's new trip into mind game territory will be more intense and enjoyable this time around. I've been enjoying the actor's action/drama films in recent years, and working under Chris Nolan's direction is only going to heighten things up a notch.

It seems I'm not quite done with the postings yet, as this little poster caught my eye. This is one of the movies I'm really looking forward to in the next year, particularly because it is directed by the man who rebooted and resurrected the Batman Film franchise successfully.
