McFarlane Toys Shows Off the DC Multiverse Lucius Fox and The Tumbler/ Batmobile

 

Finally making its way to toy stores around the world and based on the popular supporting character + vehicle seen in The Dark Knight Trilogy, McFarlane Toys and Todd McFarlane show off via a new video released a look at the Lucius Fox figure based on Morgan Freeman’s likeness (Happy Birthday!) and The Tumbler/ Batmobile vehicle!

The Dark Knight Was Released 15 Years Ago Today

 

15 years ago this day, Christopher Nolan's second Batman film in "The Dark Knight" was released by Warner Bros. Pictures in US theaters. It would be the sequel to 2005's "Batman Begins" and the second instalment of "The Dark Knight Trilogy" - seeing actor Christian Bale reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/ Batman as he continued to wage his vigilante war against crime and corruption in Gotham City. He allies himself with GCPD cop James Gordon (Gary Oldman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) to take down the mob once and for all. Unfortunately for them they fail to recognise the growing threat of a criminal mastermind known as The Joker (the late Heath Ledger) as he systematically takes down everything in Gotham through anarchy and chaos.

The Dark Knight - Original Theatrical Trailer Considered a masterpiece and one of the greatest films ever made, The Dark Knight broke the mold in several levels - and ushered in a new perception for superhero movies thanks to its grounded crime film approach as well as Heath Ledger as The Joker - which would ultimately be one of his last performances prior to tragically passing away in January 2008. The actor would post-humously win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role as the Clown Prince of Crime, and TDK would go on to win big in the Box Office and further heighten Nolan's status as a bigtime filmmaker - especially with his pioneering use of the IMAX format for big blockbuster films. 

The success of The Dark Knight would lead to a third and final film in Nolan's Batman trilogy in "The Dark Knight Rises" - ending Bruce Wayne's story and journey as Gotham's vigilante hero and defender.

NYCC 2022: Todd McFarlane and McFarlane Toys Unveil Sneak Peek of Upcoming DC Multiverse Figures!

New York Comic Con has returned and is currently in full swing, and Todd McFarlane and McFarlane Toys have taken to NYCC 2022 to hold a panel discussion where they pretty much revealed their upcoming slate of DC Multiverse figs - and some fan favorites are coming! Todd put some sneak peeks in his official IG, so check them out!

From Superboy and The Eradicator Superman of the 90’s to Batman Hush and Knightfall era Catwoman, there’s plenty to look forward to - even a Mr. Freeze too.

Then there’s the upcoming Build-A-Wave dedicated to “The Dark Knight Trilogy”, with Todd and McFarlane Toys making 7” figures of those characters from Batman to Joker and Bane.

Theb there’s new Mega Figures coming up - including Mongul! Todd also teased figures coming for his upcoming Spawn/ Batman crossover comic, so there’s lots of action figures of DC Multiverse to look forward to!

Update: Thanks to Preternia’s coverage on NYCC via Twitter, there’s also going to be a Page Punchers 7” Aquaman wave, and a Wave 3 of the smaller 3” ones that include Batman Beyond and Batman Rebirth too. Plus Spawn is also going the Page Punchers 3” route. Lots to look forward to!

12 years ago, "The Dark Knight" - the sequel to Batman Begins and the second entry in what would ultimately become "The Dark Knight Trilogy", was released in theaters in 2008 - becoming one of the most highly acclaimed superhero movies ever made and arguably the best Batman movie next to Tim Burton's "Batman". Christian Bale reprised his role as Bruce Wayne and put on the Batsuit once more - to take on the late great Heath Ledger's Joker and defend it from the anarchy and chaos he unleashed in a very realistic Gotham City.

Looking back at Batman Begins - 15 years later and its legacy is still going strong

Just like that, it's been a decade and a half since Warner Bros. and director Christopher Nolan took a stab at the Batman film franchise - when prospects looked bleak moving forward for DC Comics' flagship character after 1997's "Batman and Robin" - and literally brought the character back to his roots and reinvigorated the franchise with 2005's "BATMAN BEGINS" a grounded realism and telling the definite origin story of the future Dark Knight - who he is and how he came to be.

Just with the release of the very first teaser trailer in 2004 - we already knew we were going to be in for a wild ride and a Batman story that would be a superhero movie yet have none of the camp and comedy that featured heavily in the past movies - putting the franchise into a bit of a hiatus before finally getting its second wind as a brand to take very seriously.

Nolan, then known for films "Memento" and "Insomnia", was a big Batman fan himself and looked to tell the definitive Bruce Wayne story - an aspect of the character that was briefly touched on but never explored in full detail in a Batman movie save for the death of his parents. The journey and training of Wayne as well as the influences and experiences he received were the focal points of "Batman Begins" that drove us, the viewers and fans,  to see Bruce Wayne's rise from a traumatized individual into the vigilante hero who adopts the persona of his childhood fear - turning it into a symbol to strike fear into the hearts and minds of criminals that plague his hometown of Gotham City.

Dunkirk: Theatrical poster and trailer released

Set to be one of the most epic war drama films to expect next year, Warner Bros. and "The Dark Knight Trilogy" and "Inception" director Christopher Nolan have released the first theatrical poster and brand new trailer to "Dunkirk" - the World War II era film that tells the story of the Dunkirk evacuation and starring Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, and Kenneth Branagh.

Happy Birthday to the man behind The Dark Knight Trilogy - Christopher Nolan!

It's July 30 and a Throwback Thursday... And also the birthday of the man behind what would become one of the most definitive interpretations of Batman in film for all time.

Today, British-American director and visionary Christopher Nolan turns 45, and ten years ago he started a journey for one Bruce Wayne (as portrayed by Christian Bale) that would be chronicled in 3 films that make up "The Dark Knight Trilogy" and focus on a man becoming a legend and symbol for good and justice.

Today, those films still stand the test of time, and serve as the inspiration behind what is now being being forged as the DC Cinematic Universe. It's not a part of that world... But Nolan himself served as executive producer for the first foray in that universe with Zack Snyder's Man of Steel in 2013. The director's exploits and work also extend to action and sci-fi gems like Memento and Inception, but it goes without saying that his mark in the superhero film industry certainly left it's mark for all time.

Playing the part of Bruce Wayne/ Batman in Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises, Bale would also be seen in films like The Fighter (where he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor), American Hustle, and most recently in Exodus: Gods and Kings. However, it's his role in The Dark Knight Trilogy that people will fondly remember him by, as he embodied a more realistic and grounded Batman for a generation to see!

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Christopher Nolan celebrate birthdays on The year of Batman's 75th Anniversary

July is about to end, but yesterday on the 30th of the month, two of Hollywood's most iconic talents celebrated their respective birthdays. Both can officially say that they were part of the long running Batman franchise, and while one's trip wasn't as memorable as the other, it still stands along the 75 years of adventure and legacy associated with the Dark Knight's legacy.

Pumping Iron. Action Star. Governator. Whatever you call him or know about him, legendary Hollywood actor and former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger just turned 67 this year. Batfans will remember him for his portrayal of the cool and cruel "Mister Freeze" in Joel Schumacher's disappointing and forgettable 1997 movie that was "Batman and Robin", but there's no denying that the Austrian-born actor has done a lot through his career!

And of course, the man behind The Dark Knight Trilogy himself, Christopher Nolan, turns 44. The British-American film director is also known for his works "Memento" and "Inception", and has a new film coming up this year that you probably have heard about. It's called Interstellar.

So there you have it for July! The celebrations and many happy returns greetings go to these two Hollywood icons, and more stuff will surely come for Batman's 75th Anniversary this year!

What would happen to a world where governments collapse, NASA has folded, and food shortage is on an all-time high?

Look to stars, and pray there's hope in outer space. That's pretty much the initial premise being given out by Christopher Nolan's newest original film "Interstellar", which is presented by Warner Bros, Paramount Pictures, and Legendary Pictures and stars the likes of Matther McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, and Sir Michael Caine.

The very first trailer for the movie has debuted online, and is also attached to screenings of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Witness the teaser, and imagine the next adventure the director of Inception and The Dark Knight Trilogy has in store for audiences in 2D and IMAX formats.

Batman actor Christian Bale comments on BatKid and Ben Affleck

This past week, the world was touched and reminded that heroism and dreams can come true, as a 5-year old "BatKid" was granted a Gotham City of his own to stop the bad guys, set in good 'ol San Francisco by the efforts of the city and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. It made widespread news, and was even able to catch the attention of a former Batman star and actor from Christopher Nolan's epic Dark Knight Trilogy, Christian Bale.

Via Superherohype and during an interview with Access Hollywood, Bale goes on to comment about the charity event.

"I just think it's great. It's a great day for the little guy. I just think Make-A-Wish and San Francisco did such an amazing thing to organize that. You just think of the delight in that little fella's heart, running around doing that. Then also as someone who has played Batman, it's great to see that the symbol of Batman is so much bigger than any one person, than any film, than any comic book, any TV series, that's really what it's all about. It's irrelevant which actor is playing it, we're irrelevant in that sense. But for little Miles to have such a great day is just delightful."

Then, Bale went on to talk about his successor, Ben Affleck, who will be starring as the new Caped Crusader opposite Henry Cavill as Superman in the "Batman Vs Superman" 2015 film that acts as a sequel to this year's Man Of Steel. He went on to say this:

"I wish him all the best. He's a very experienced actor and filmmaker and he'll make it his own. Our thing's finished, we've always declared it was finished and it should be passed on to another actor and it will be again after him."

Christian Bale and Woody Harrelson come face to face in "Out of the Furnace"

It's Batman and Defendor, in a new thriller that'll see lots of big names in Hollywood converging.

Via USA Today and Bleeding Cool, here's one of the post-Batman films that Christian Bale, star of Christopher Nolan's epic Dark Knight Trilogy, will be appearing.

Called "Out of the Furnace", it's an American thriller that's directed by Scott Cooper and also stars an ensemble cast which includes, in addition to Cheers' actor Woody Harrelson, Forest Whitaker, Casey Affleck, Zoe Saldana, and Willem Dafoe  (So in addition to Bats and Defendor, you have Star Trek's Uhura and the Green Goblin as well). The Dark Knight Trilogy: The Ultimate Collector's Edition Set is official

After rumors, reports, and then unconfirmed information popped up online of a new collector's edition of Christopher Nolan's epic Dark Knight Trilogy was on the way, Warner Bros. has officially announced that the set known as "The Dark Knight Trilogy: The Ultimate Collector's Edition" is indeed real, and will be arriving in stores this September with a whole lot of goodies that Batman fans new and old may want to get!

Priced at $99.97 and aimed for a September release, The Ultimate Collector's Edition of "The Dark Knight Trilogy" contains all the movies and features that ran with the previous releases of Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises, plus a new disc containing new Bonus disc with New special features, including "The Fire Rises: The Creation and Impact of The Dark Knight Trilogy" and "Christopher Nolan and Richard Donner: A Conversation". The set also includes memorabilia Mattel Hot Wheels Batmobile/ Tumbler, Batpod, and The Bat, as well as Mondo commissioned art cards and a 48-page hardcover production and art book.

On a related side note, Christian Bale also confirmed with an interview with Entertainment Weekly that he's NOT coming back as Batman on a potential Justice League film. Still, his epic run on all three Dark Knight films collaborating with Nolan was self-contained and enough, and he gives his blessing to pass the mantle of The Bat to someone else in a shared DC Movie Universe. A while back, rumors were running around that a new "Ultimate Collector's Edition" set of Christopher Nolan's epic Dark Knight Trilogy of Batman films would be released. No official word has been given yet on whether this set will actually see the light of day, but it appears that a Polish Batman site may have gotten some promotional material that promotes said rerelease of "The Dark Knight Trilogy" on home video, and it looks pretty real too.
