Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse: First teaser trailer released

Literally debuting out of nowhere and giving Spider-Man fans something to be excited and hyped over for a year's time, Sony Pictures and Marvel have released the first set of teasers for their upcoming animated Spider-Man movie entitled "Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse" - which sees us introduced to a world much bigger than your friendly neighborhood hero typically embodied by Peter Parker. This time, the focus of this show goes to Miles Morales - aka the former "Ultimate Spider-Man" and now the second teenaged hero to bear the name in mainstream Marvel continuity! He's the star of this movie, and will be dealing with the likes of Prowler and a force that should be feared by any Spider-Man! From the title itself, there is a universe where MORE than ONE wears the mask!

It's been a long and somewhat unpredictable 2013... And while much of it has brought its fair share of ups and downs, there's no denying that plenty of things in the popculture category that happened and need to be reviewed and listed as per annual tradition!

Iron Man: Rise of the Technovore Cover Art and Release Date revealed

Set to debut this year along with the hyped up release of Iron Man 3, the next Marvel Anime feature entitled "Iron Man: Rise of the Technovore" finally has an official release date to go with it, with the direct-to-video film coming to Blu-Ray and DVD on April 16! Also, the official cover art for the movie has landed online, showcasing not just ol' shellhead and his partner War Machine, but their fellow Avengers Black Widow and Hawkeye... Remembering 2012~!

Time for another year in review post... This time for the year 2012~! It's been a stellar year for movies, comics, games, and yes even music, and there's a lot I'd like to nominate from the circle of great choices that have made this a memorable time for all things popculture.

Now, before we sign off 2012 and get to the picks, here's a Happy New Year greeting to you all!

COMICS: Batman - Death of the Family

Still ongoing at the moment but promising to spiral down into a story Batfans will never forget, Scott Snyder has followed up on his epic "Court of Owls" run of The New 52 Batman series with the return of The Dark Knight's epic nemesis The Joker in a very sinister and gruesome form. Last seen in the pages of last year's relaunch of Detective Comics #1, the Clown Prince of Crime had his face removed and has finally returned... Targeting Batman and his allies in a way that will change them forever when all is said and done. This is sure to be a classic fans will never forget!

MOVIES: The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises

This is a tie, certainly because one ushered in the BIGGEST blockbuster superhero team-up movie ever and the FINAL CHAPTER of Christopher Nolan's epic Dark Knight Trilogy! Both movies took in a lot of Box Office Returns for 2012, but The Avengers clearly stood out on top between the two thanks to the sheer number of heroes gathered in the film.

On the other hand, The Dark Knight Rises also wrapped up the trilogy pretty well... A feat rarely accomplished by most superhero movies. The tale of Bruce Wayne's journey was weaved together well by Nolan and his team, and it will certainly go down as one of the best superhero movie adaptations ever based on realism and detail.

ANIMATED MOVIE: Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part I

Long awaited and highly anticipated an animated adaptation, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part I certainly gave comic book fans who remember Frank Miller's seminal work a good treat of finally seeing an aged Batman returning from a 10 year self-imposed retirement to fight crime once more. It's missing some of the dialogue from the books that made it noteworthy but it's still fun as heck, especially with casting legendary Robocop actor Peter Weller as Bruce Wayne/ Batman! January will see Part II out in the market, and if you get a chance to pick this up in home video, do so.

GAMES: The Walkind Dead: The Game

Nominated as "Game of the Year" at this year's Spike TV Video Game Awards, I only recently played and finished the retail edition of The Walking Dead: The Game, and I can totally see why it earned that award hook, line, and sinker. Telltale games has crafted a compelling tale that tests your choices, your humanity, and how you can survive the zombie apocalypse with a band of other survivors and a little girl under your care. It's worth checking out, and very easy to play at that. In fact, the first episode that makes up this 5 episode season is free for the iOS and Xbox Live Marketplace.

TV SERIES: The Walking Dead - Season 3 and Arrow

Still at its mid-season hiatus, The newest season of The Walking Dead has proven that it has comeback strong and hard in presenting an action-packed drama full of zombies and humanity going head-to-head amidst the apocalypse. Rick Grimes and crew face tougher choices this season, and it's sure to be a memorable ride once it returns this February.

Arrow, the CW's newest superhero show based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow, feels a lot like Smallville and Batman Begins meets Lost, with Oliver Queen coming back to his hometown of Starling City and cleaning up crime based on a list his father gave to him. It's also on mid-season break til January, and is chalk full of guest appearances by other DC Characters that make this a good comic book show to check out.

Wreck-It Ralph director expresses ideas for sequel

Following the box-office success of Walt Disney Pictures' newest animated movie that is "Wreck-It Ralph", director Rich Moore was interviewed on what his ideas were for arguably considered to be a love letter movie to fans of video games and beyond. A video interview has appeared online via YouTube and Enewsi with Moore expressing interesting ideas for the sequel, and if you haven't seen the film yet, it just opened last week and is currently playing in theaters! If you're a fan of video games and retro gaming, this is a absolute must see, as this review can attest!

Last weekend's New York Comic Con was filled with tons of popculture news that gave a lot of reason to look forward to next year, and none could contest that things would shine brighter in the corner of a certain Dark Knight hero! DC Comics very own Batman is getting two animated films in 2013 in the form of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 2 and Lego Batman: The Movie - DC Superheroes Unite! Wreck It Ralph: Trailer and New TV Spot

Coming out in theaters this November, Disney's newest 3D animated feature, Wreck-It Ralph, is truly a love letter to video game fans around the world. Telling the story of a "bad guy" game character who wants to be a good guy after 30 years of doing the same job, the film features a ton of guest star gaming characters that are sure to please fans of various gaming genres! New stills and premiere dates for Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Animated released

Via a post at Superherohype, new stills from the next DC Universe Animated Original Movies release, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Animated. The new animated feature based on Frank Miller's 1986 seminal graphic novel work of the same name is due for release on home video on September 25th, but it will also be getting an advanced premiere on two coasts in the United States, namely New York and Los Angeles. Filmmakers and cast members will be present on those dates, with panel discussions open to fans and viewers attending! Reviews and Impressions: Batman: Year One and Batman: Arkham City

Today, October 18, 2011, is officially Batman day, and I do not jest making that claim either. Two very important releases pertaining to The Dark Knight and his crusade see release this day, namely the animated film Batman: Year One and the videogame Batman: Arkham City and I'd love nothing better than to share my impressions on both of them, primarily because 1.) I am a big fan of the character and 2.) they're just downright superb dishes fans of popculture and gaming can sink their teeth into. I know I did, and as of a few hours ago, I FINALLY got myself Arkham City...

Sweet. Perfect. Solid. I'll get to my impressions of the game in a bit, but first, here's a little review on the former animated movie I mentioned...

Spotlight on DC Showcase: Catwoman Animated Short!

It may be Batman month this October with the releases of Batman: Year One and Batman: Arkham City, but a certain feline love interest of the Caped Crusader also takes on part of the spotlight this month! Catwoman bursts into the scene in both mediums as co-star and playable character, but it's in the former animated movie package that features her in a solo adventure, in new short from DC Showcase! If you want a taste of this spectacular, sexy, and stylish animated feature, take a gander at this preview clip from DC Showcase: Catwoman!

Pretty slick eh? It captures Selina Kyle perfectly to a tee, and it's writted by Batman: The Animated Series veteran and comic book scribe Paul Dini. Be sure to catch, watch, and get Batman: Year One, which will be available online and on home media, or you can see it now as it's featured in YouTube, but for how long is uncertain. Look forward to a review from me on both Warner Bros. Animated features soon!

Batman: Year One Update: First Clip surfaces online

Coming Soon has received the first clip to the upcoming new DC Universe Animated Original Movie, Batman: Year One. Based on the classic graphic novel of the same name written by Frank Miller and illustrated by David Mazzucchelli, the direct-to-video animated release will arrive in Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital Copy, depict the early year's of Gotham City's Dark Knight as he arrives to fight injustice and rid the streets of crime and corruption. This clip below shows Bruce Wayne's alter ego, as he delivers a stern message to Carmine Falcone and his guests of the criminal underworld while they're having dinner at the former's home.

SDCC '11: Batman: The Dark Knight Returns confirmed as a DC Animated film!

Fans of DC's ever growing animated film line up may get the surprise of their lives next year, as Warner Bros. and DC pretty much confirmed during the San Diego Comic Con that one of the most beloved Batman stories would be getting the toon treatment... As a two-parter even!

That's right, Frank Miller and Klaus Janson's The Dark Knight Returns is being adapted! The EPIC tale of an aged Bruce Wayne coming out of retirement and returning as Batman in a distant future is going to be made into DC's next animated film sometime in 2012. The Dark Knight Returns will most likely be released after the two animated movies slated for launch within the year, which are Justice League: Doom and Superman Vs. The Elite. Not much details were given on who will be voicing who, but good rumor and word is that legendary Batman: The Animated Series actors Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are being considered for Batman and Joker again, and if that's true, things will be so much more AWESOME going for this movie.

Coincidentally, this will be Frank Miller's second Batman work adapted into an animated film, as Batman: Year One already saw its premiere held at the Comic Con and will see home video release later this October! For more details on the store, visit the source post over at Bleeding Cool!

First Look and Info: Batman: Year One!

As posted on Slash Film, Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Animation have released new info and pics of their next animated movie based on Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli's seminal Batman story, Batman: Year One!

The press release announced the voice cast, featuring the talents of Bryan Cranston (James Gordon), Ben McKenzie (Bruce Wayne/ Batman), Eliza Dushku (Selina Kyle/ Catwoman), and Katee Sackhoff (Sarah Essen), and two images were revealed, showing off Batman and Bruce Wayne in pivotal moments in the animated flick. Set to make its official debut on this year's Comic Con, fans get a sneak peek at this long awaited adaptation of Batman's inception, as well as one of the pivotal storylines that inspired Christopher Nolan's Batman films! The Green Lantern: Emerald Knights Trailer!

Warner Bros. has released the first trailer of their newest animated movie, Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, which is due on DVD on the same day the live action GL flick starring Ryan Reynolds comes out in theaters! The new animated flick, starring Nathan Fillion as the voice of Hal Jordan, has the hero mentoring a new recruit, Arisia, as they prepare to face a grave threat that could spell the end of the universe! I loved 2008's Kung Fu Panda. It was one of the most hilarious 3D animated films I've ever seen, thanks in part to the excellent voice casting and talents led by the tenacious one Jack Black, who voices the main fat panda hero Po! Of course, the film grossed out well in the box office, and a sequel is making its way to theaters May next year. If you're anxious to see a teaser of it, well look no further! Superman/ Batman: Apocalypse Is Coming!

Back when it was released last year, Superman/ Batman: Public Enemies was a hit I'll say, and being a Warner Bros Animated Feature, I would expect no less from the guys behind Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League Unlimited. As an adaptation of the story arc of the same name that ran through the first 6 issues of the comic book series, it wasn't exactly faithful to the source material it was based on thanks to the different scenes and ending, but it still had the punch and charisma so many fans and devotees of the DC Animated Shows have been looking for, not to mention excellent artwork and voice casting that continues to be a trademark success of WB animated features. Now, with so many new projects down the line which includes a new Batman animated movie next month called "Under The Hood", I was wondering what Warner Bros. next DC animated project could be. Well, SuperheroHype gave me the answer when I checked on updates on their website, and it's something I am already excited to see when it gets released!

Yes, Jeph Loeb and the late great Michael Turner's Superman/ Batman story is going to get the animated treatment! Based on the second S/B story arc that introduced the new Supergirl into mainstream DC Continuity, this animated feature will be called "Superman/ Batman: Apocalypse", and will see release for Blu-Ray and DVD on September 28 this year... which is about a year since Superman/ Batman: Public Enemies was released! Can't wait for this one, and it's gonna include a Green Arrow short! If you're a fan of DCAU, you must look out for this one!

Movie Review: Michael Jackson's "This Is It"

After two weeks down the line, I finally got to see what many consider as the final movie of the King Of Pop, and what do you know... this was really it for fans - the movie that gave us a final glimpse of what made Michael Jackson an undisputed force of nature in music history.

A film documentary made out of video footage taken from the actual rehearsals of the "This Is It" concert, Michael Jackson's This Is It is what I'd call a fitting tribute to the last days of the King Of Pop on stage. The man who sang the most memorable songs in decades and who gave millions of people reason to scream out his name left us too soon in the middle of this year, and the shock of it sent ripples throughout the globe, sending fans into deep mourning and sudden nostalgic appreciation. Because of his death, the concert never came to light, and fans will never see what could probably have been the swan song comeback of the musician's career. Fortunately, the aforementioned footage taken from the practice sessions were available, intended to be placed in the popstar's personal library for reference. Piecing together and editing out hours of captured material, concert director Kenny Ortega creates what is essentially the "final performance" we'll get to see, showing MJ at his best, performing like the spark of energy he always is whenever he's on stage, regardless if its a live show or not.

Now what can be said about this movie? You can think of it as a souped up "Behind The Scenes Look" of the "This Is It" concert preparations, starting from the stage talent search all the way to the production and rehearsals of the show itself. Michael and Director Kenny take charge in directing and choreographing the entire set up, with the former giving his opinions now and then on how the music should cue in and follow his lead. It's an impressive display of lights, dancing, and musical genius, and although he wears sunglasses through most of the duration of the film, MJ hardly loses a beat in any of the multiple segments played through the course of the movie. As natural as he is with his signature Moonwalk, The man is a true talent, and this gives us a good look at the hard work and dedication he places into his projects to makw sure that the show was the best he was going to give to the fans, period. Obviously, MJ performs his signature songs, and you'll find yourself singing to familiar tunes like "Human Nature" and "Thriller". Excellent stuff.

Besides spotlighting Michael, the other members of the "This Is It" tour share their own experiences on camera and relate to the audience how monumental it was to work alongside a legend and an icon. Performers, musicians, and even the director Kenny Ortega himself shed some light on the work and influence Mike has brought to the stage, and their eagerness to put up one hell of a show is something that persists throughout the entire film. Also, the choreography and stage segments seem like hard work only the dedicated and savvy can really dip their hands to. Jackson does his thing, but also speaks his honest opinion when something doesn't feel right to him. It may illustrate the guy as a perfectionist, but that's what made him so great and successful in the first place, and you see it in the film first hand how he works his magic. We also get to see the other bits of extras they were adding to give the concert more bang for its buck, such as green screen filmed segments 3D produced videos that would have appeared behind MJ on stage as visual aids for his songs. It's an interesting process to witness, and it only makes it all the more disappointing that the concert never came to be. His final song, aptly titled "This Is It", also makes it to the film, and it can be heard via the link below.

Michael Jackson - This Is It

We can only imagine what kind of impact This Is It would have had on Michael Jackson's career and his fanbase had it pushed through, but there's no denying that this movie is the final curtain call that the King Of Pop's legacy can grace us with. If you're a Jackson fan through and through, you owe it to yourselves to see this and treat it as his final performance for the entire world to see. The MJ legacy transcends beyond the grave, and as true as one slogan promoting his music says - his music will live on... forever. RIP Michael Jackson, and thank you.
