The Falcon and The Winter Soldier: Blu-Ray Deleted Scene Hints at Secret Invasion Twist

One of Marvel Studios first shows on Disney + as part of “Phase Four” is finally available on Home Video - as  “The Falcon And The Winter Soldier” has been released on Blu-Ray! This spin-off series to the Captain America films follows the adventures of Sam Wilson/ Falcon and Bucky Barnes/ Winter Soldier as they navigate in a post-Blip world where Steve Rogers has retired from the role of Captain America and Sam was given the shield to succeed him. However he instead donates it to the Smithsonian Exhibit, and as the world experiences a new attack led by activists - the shield is passed to an unlikely successor.

In a new deleted scene released by IGN that comes together with the special features of the home release - Sam Wilson catches up with James “Rhodey” Rhodes aka War Machine, and this meeting hints to what is later revealed to be Skrull posing as Rhodey in the “Phase Five” miniseries “Secret Invasion”.

Captain America 4 is confirmed in the works following The Falcon and The Winter Soldier finale

It's official - Sam Wilson has embraced the role of Captain America following the finale of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier... And now a fourth Cap film is confirmed to be in the works following that as reported by THR!

TFATWS showrunner Malcolm Spellman is returning to pen the script alongside Dalan Musson, and while nothing has been confirmed as to who will be returning and what the story will entail - it will most likely be focusing on Sam's new role as the new Captain America of the MCU and will hopefully also include Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier as well (and perhaps John Walker/ US Agent maybe). We'll just have to wait and see how that plays out!

Anthony Mackie talks about his Captain America future in the MCU and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

The Marvel Cinematic Universe returns this year with the beginning of "Phase 4" with "WandaVision" premiering its first two episodes on Disney+ this January 15, but fans are also looking forward to the next couple of programs coming from Marvel Studios that are slated to hit Disney's streaming service - including "The Falcon and The Winter Soldier" which reunites Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan as Steve Rogers/ Captain America's pals Sam Wilson/ Falcon and Bucky Barnes/ Winter Soldier.

During an interview with The Jess Cagle Show, Anthony Mackie stated that while he got the shield from an elderly Steve Rogers at the end of Avengers: Endgame, he isn't quite Captain America yet and that will be explored in the upcoming series which also introduces John Walker/ US Agent as played by Wyatt Russell.

“No, we don’t know that yet,” said Mackie. “The show, the idea of the show is basically, you know, and at the end of Avengers: Endgame, Cap decided he was going into retirement and he asked me if I would take up the shield, but at no point in time, did I agree to or say that I would be Captain America. So the show walks the line of who is going to take up the shield and who’s going to be Captain America if Steve isn’t coming back.”

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier starts streaming on Disney + on March.

Marvel Studios CCXP ‘19 panel showcases new looks at Black Widow, WandaVision, and Falcon and the Winter Solider

Marvel Studios has been pretty busy preparing for what’s to come with “Phase 4” of their Marvel Cinematic Universe - filming their upcoming new shows in Disney’s new “Disney +” streaming platform as well as hyping up the new contingent of films that will hit theaters next year - including the new “Black Widow” solo movie that features Scarlett Johansson’s return as Natasha Romanoff. Above is a brand new poster that was revealed in this year’s CCXP ion Brazil (via Comic Book Movie), which shows off the Miss Johansson in all her serious glory as the super spy.

Also seen via Comic Book Movie is new stills from the currently being filmed “Falcon and The Winter Soldier” TV Series - with Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan back as Sam and Bucky!

Then we get a new look at “WandaVision” - featuring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany back as Scarlet Witch and Vision - albeit in a new pic that looks like it’s in a 50’s Sitcom setting. That may clue in to the plot that is probably an adaptation of what has happened in the comics - where Wanda used her reality warping powers to set up the perfect family life for her and Vision - bringing to life two children as well.

The new Marvel films and shows will be showing up between 2020 and 2021 respectively.

Captain America: Civil War: Steve Rogers is no longer Captain America

The end of Captain America: Civil War went through many things, but one of the most important outcomes was the split of the Avengers following the final confrontation of Captain America/ Steve Rogers and Iron Man/ Tony Stark. After discovering that his parents were murdered in the past by a then brainwashed Winter Soldier/ Bucky Barnes, Iron Man went on full attack mode and was only bested on the end by Cap. With Stark calling Steve unworthy of wielding the shield thanks to his actions and defending his best friend, Rogers dropped his signature weapon and walked off with the injured Bucky to parts unknown... And that scene officially that meant that he was no longer Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe according to the Russo Brothers.

Doing a press tour for the upcoming Blu-Ray/ DVD release of the film, the Russo Brothers explained to The Huffington Post why that moment meant what it meant and why Steve Rogers left his superhero name behind:

"I think him dropping that shield is him letting go of that identity,” said Joe. “[It’s] him admitting that certainly, the identity of Captain America was in conflict with the very personal choice that he was making.”

With plenty of deleted scenes (and yes even a gag reel) to look forward to, Captain America: Civil War hits digital on September 2 and on Blu-Ray/ DVD on September 13.

Already riding high playing one of the most popular characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, actor Sebastian Stan celebrates his birthday today!
