The Batman and James Gunn's The Suicide Squad sequel dated for 2021; Ben Affleck no longer Batman
It's BIG NEWS for the world of DC Films in both good and bad ways, as The Hollywood Reporter reports that both Matt Reeves' "The Batman" and the James Gunn directed "The Suicide Squad" are dated for 2021 by Warner Bros!
The latter film in particular will be directed by the former Guardians of the Galaxy director - who was controversially fired last year from directing "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" and has now moved over to the "Distinguished Competition" - namely DC Films and is writing the screenplay AND directing what is being called "The Suicide Squad" - a relaunch instead of a direct sequel to the 2016 villain's film. Meanwhile, Margot Robbie will be immediately reprising her famous role as Harley Quinn in 2020 in the spin-off "Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)".
Following months of speculation and rumors, it looks like Ben Affleck is out as Batman officially - as Matt Reeves "The Batman" is pushing forward on its summer 2021 release date and fixing on a new Caped Crusader to take on the helm. Affleck tweeted on his official Twitter page: "Excited for #TheBatman in Summer 2021 and to see @MattReevesLA vision come to life.".
The Batman hits on June 25, 2021, while The Suicide Squad arrives on August 6, 2021.

Zack Snyder returns to zombies with "Army of the Dead" for Netflix
Looks like Zack Snyder is returning to his roots and joining the Netflix brigade of featured film presentations, as The Hollywood Reporter reports that the Batman v Superman and Justice League director's next project will be another zombie film called "Army Of The Dead" - which was originally a project by Warner Bros. but is now under the popular streaming service. No release date has been given nor any other details other than the film being set in Las Vegas and following a group of survivors pulling off a big heist. Also, Snyder started his directing career with 2004's "Dawn of the Dead" remake - so it's a big full circle move for the director.
Hopefully we'll learn more about "Army of the Dead" in the coming months ahead.

On RE2 Week, Resident Evil 2 turns 21 Years Old!
It's truly hard to imagine that come a few days from now, the long awaited remake of Resident Evil 2 will finally hit current generation consoles and PC - bringing a newly reimagined version of the title to gamers from this generation and those who grew up with the original. Speaking of that - today marks the 21st anniversary of the release of "Resident Evil 2" for the original Sony Playstation. On this January 21st in 1998 - gamers finally got the long awaited follow-up to the 1996 classic that helped redefine horror and adventure into a new genre called "Survival Horror" and sprucing things up by not only putting its setting in a city plagued by the undead, but by adding more replay value and mechanics that greatly improved upon its predecessor.
The game - focusing on an RPD rookie cop named Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield, the younger sister of RE1 lead Chris Redfield, would see both playable characters enter Raccoon City just as the zombie outbreak commenced - forcing both to find shelter in the Raccoon City Police Department. Unfortunately things take a turn for the worse as the city is all but dead and overrun, and the survivors look for a way to escape while also discovering at the same time the secrets and people behind the chaos unleashed in The Umbrella Corporation.
So even until this day, Resident Evil 2 remains a product of its time yet is beholden by many as one of the best Survival Horror games and sequels ever produced. That legacy is what drove many fans to request a remake after the success of the 2002 Resident Evil Remake - and that time is now with the upcoming release of Resident Evil 2 (2019). I along with the rest of the world cannot wait to see what lies in store with the new reimagining of a classic.
And here I am all celebratory and prepared for the new remake. HAPPY 21 YEARS, RESIDENT EVIL 2!

In what certainly is one impressive wave for the King of the Seven Seas and his newfound success in the hollywood box office, Warner Bros. Batman Beyond: Celebrating 20 years of The Tomorrow Knight
Following on the footsteps of a critically acclaimed animated series based on DC's flagship hero is no small feat, let alone being a drastic idea of a sequel that pushes forward some decades past The Dark Knight's prime and seeing a new successor take on the mantle of the bat altogether. That pretty much sums up 1999's "Batman Beyond" - the futuristic sequel to "Batman The Animated Series" and "The New Batman Adventures" and created by the triple threat team of Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, and Alan Burnett. Set primarily in the year 2039, the story follows Terry McGinnis - a young teenager living in Neo-Gotham who meets the elderly Bruce Wayne and stumbles upon his secrets during his days as the Caped Crusader. After crime and corruption claim the life of Terry's father and circumstances see the need for new blood to defend his city, Bruce reluctantly takes the headstrong youth under his wing and trains him to become the new Batman.
Released in 1999, Batman Beyond became a critical and commercial success - thanks in no small part to the brilliant writing and animation put together by the team of Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, and the rest of Warner Bros. Animation. Reprising his role as Bruce Wayne of course is Kevin Conroy - the voice of Batman - who plays the mentor role this time around as the spotlight now turns to Terry McGinnis/ Batman Beyond, who is voiced by Will Friedle.
As someone who grew up idolizing and admiring the adventures of the one true Batman, Batman Beyond is undoubtedly a worthy follow-up to the saga of The Dark Knight and now stands with its own legacy 20 years later. The show has spawned various merchandise, toys, and multiple comic book sequel series and spin-offs, and has become a part of the DC Multiverse canon altogether. As Frank Miller told the story of an elderly Bruce Wayne returning to fight crime in his "Dark Knight" universe of stories, Bruce Timm and Paul Dini have done the same with Old Man Wayne in their DC Animated Universe and giving him a worthy successor in Terry McGinnis. If you haven't watched this show - you are truly missing out. As they would say in 2039 - it is very "Schway".

Resident Evil 2: "1-Shot" Demo arrives tomorrow for PS4, Xbox One, and PC!
After a long time requesting for a "demo" of the game, Resident Evil fans are finally going to get just that at the comforts of their own console and home as Capcom has officially announced that their upcoming "Resident Evil 2" remake is getting a "1-Shot Demo" this week. In other words, players will FINALLY get their chance to try out this brand new reimagining of the 1998 sequel powered by the RE Engine before the full game comes out the end of the month... And this demo sees release for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC Steam this January 11th!
There is a catch however for those playing this demo - you only have 30 MINUTES to play through it and guide Leon S. Kennedy through the horrors of the Raccoon City outbreak and beyond. That means that the clock is ticking and you won't have any time to explore and kill every enemy on sight. The demo becomes unplayable after your thirty minutes are up, and while that may be a bit disappointing to know - there will be a special new trailer that will play right after you're done with things at least. If you plan to download and try, be sure to between January 11 to 31!

Report: The Batman to start production by November 2019
It looks like Matt Reeves may finally start work proper on that long delayed standalone Batman film he has been tapped to make, as a report by The Hollywood Reporter now states that "The Batman" will be starting production this coming November. Rumors have been swirling that the film will focus on a younger Bruce Wayne/ Batman - with Ben Affleck, the current Dark Knight of the DC Extended Universe and former director attached to the film, reportedly not set to star in the film. That supports some other rumors that Affleck is leaving the role of the Caped Crusader altogether, but take all of that with a grain of salt - as this is not yet set in stone and anything can happen between now and the reported production date.
No release date has been given for "The Batman".

It's been a while everyone... I went on a mini hiatus again and it was a much needed break from blogging and sharing updates (which I still do in my Facebook page Timzster). As the times move onward things change, and for this blog there may be times I won't be able to write or share stuff - but that doesn't mean there won't be any activity! So do follow me in my social media channels on Facebook and Twitter!
Also since it's an annual tradition, here's a highlight poster/ collage of almost ALL THE THINGS I've done in 2018. Made this past New Year’s Eve, I made this to celebrate and honor the many things I’ve had in cosplay, conventions, and life. I’m not going break that and just before we say goodbye to 2018, here’s a MEGA POSTER to celebrate all the adventures I’ve had with family and friends alike! From Batman to Spider-Man, Metal Gear Solid and Star Wars, Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2, and going toAsiaPOP Comicon Manila and my first international con in New York Comic Con - SO MUCH to be thankful for despite the ups and downs that have happened. I look forward to what 2019 brings with the rest of you! HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!!!🎉❤️🎄🙏🏻
