Superman Reboot Update: Viggo Mortensen being considered as General Zod?
Imagine this - What if the actor who played "Aragorn" from "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy got to play the part of one of Superman's greatest foes, General Zod? That would certainly be an awesome idea... and now it's in the rumor mill!
According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter and as posted by Slash Film, Viggo Mortensen is "A Person Of Interest" to play the part of General Zod, a well know enemy of Superman's family in Krypton, and a prominent figure in the Man of Steel's rogues gallery. Played in the original Superman movies by Terence Stamp, Zod is a megalomaniac Kryptonian with the same powers as Supes and a thirst for power and domination. Seeing as how Zack Snyder is working on the reboot along with Christopher Nolan, plus another rumor that Kevin Costner may be up for the role of Jonathan Kent, Viggo Mortensen would be an excellent choice to play the role of Zod should he be chosen and he accepts the role. I mean, just imagine him pitching that excellent charismatic voice he used as Aragorn, and twisting it into an evil and maniacal one that says "KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!", bwahahahaha!XD
For now, it's speculation at this point, but if you want more info on the report, visit the source posts at THR and Slash Film!
The Superman Reboot, starring Henry Cavill in the titular role, is slated for a December 2012 release!

Humor: Deadpool is AWESOME in MvC 3.XD
I've been playing Marvel Vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds for over a week now, and if you haven't seen or given it a try, you're missing out on one of the easiest, cheapest, and finest games to come across gaming territory for quite some time now, LOL (check out the review I made for that matter)! Case in point, any game with Marvel's Merc With The Mouth, Deadpool, is an absolute treat to see! Have you guys seen the way this psycho mercenary (who's voiced by Nolan North) plays? Check out his Level 3 Hyper Combo, aptly titled "4th-Wall Crisis"!
Whatta Home Run indeed! And yes, he also has a launcher that pays homage to that "Shoryuken" move he made in the comics, lol! Chimichanga to you, peeps!XD

R.I.P Dwayne McDuffie...
Sad news hit the comic book industry just recently, as Milestone co-founder and comic writer Dwayne McDuffie has reportedly passed away according to comic news site Comic Book Resources. His credentials include writing and creating the character Icon, as well as writing and serving great tales on other great comic book titles like Damage Control, Deathlok, Static, and even the Fantastic Four. People may know McDuffie well for his contributions to various other mediums like television, as he wrote and produced many episodes of the popular animated series Justice League Unlimited. His latest, and unfortunately one of his last works would be the newly released "All Star Superman" animated movie, which he wrote the script for. His passing was a big shock, and he will certainly be missed by fans and peers alike. For more info, visit the source post at CBR. R.I.P and thank you for the rich stories, Dwayne McDuffie.

WWE's heating up on the road to Wrestlemania 27!
There's a lot of things happening in the WWE Universe, and thanks to this past Sunday's Elimination Chamber Pay Per View, we now know who's going to be facing the Miz on Wrestlemania 27... and that would be none other than the Doctor of Thuganomics himself, John Cena. I'll admit, Cena's hasn't been the most likable wrestler for some years now since he became a face and stopped the rapping, but he finally brought back the latter part of his repertoire by responding to The Rock's disparaging remarks when The Great One made his come back at the previous week's Valentine's Day edition of Monday Night Raw to announce his comeback as the special announcer for WM27. Here's the lowdown in case you missed it:
The Rock's comeback at RAW 2/14/11!
and now... John Cena's response to The Rock this past Monday Night Raw!
Intense? Either way, I'm interested in seeing these two duke it out or resolve the dispute in some form or way come WM27! And speaking of the grandest stage of them all in sports entertainment, two iconic veterans in the industry came back last night and teased a match I'm hoping and looking very much forward to! SPOILER WARNING HERE for those who don't want to see!
Wrestlemania 27 delivers sports entertainment greatness this April 3! Watch out for it!

Humor: Black Widow Goes Wild!XD
Slash Film has a post up featuring this hilarious stop motion animated short video by French-Canadian animator Patrick Boivin, featuring a Hot Toys action figure of the Iron Man 2 version of Marvel's femme fatale superhero Black Widow, as portrayed by the sexy and lovely Scarlett Johansson! To see this video is just to believe, and it pits the Widow against some fierce competition also from the Hot Toys line, like fellow Iron Man 2 star and main villain Whiplash, the T-1000, Rocky Balboa, and heck even Batman! Johansson's likeness even gets to be goddamn War Machine in this one, so this is DEFINITELY worth checking out, just because it's titled "Black Widow Goes Wild"! LOL!XD

Marvel Movie Updates: New Iron Man Director and another Thor Trailer!
Lots of Marvel movies news have hit the interwebz this day, and it's time to get on with announcements!
Deadline and Screen Rant have just reported that Shane Black, once rumored to be one of the top candidates to fill in the vacant director's chair for Iron Man 3, has officially been named as the new director for the next sequel featuring the armored avenger. Black, whose credentials include directing Robert Downey Jr. before in the movie Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, has also served as writer for the Lethal Weapon film series, so he may just be the man for the job after Jon Favreau announced that he wouldn't be returning to direct Iron Man 3. No word yet whether or not he'll also serve as writer, but if you're still in the fence as to whether or not Black can deliver, the director/ writer has also been approached to direct treatments of Doc Savage and an americanized version of Death Note. Now if that's not confidence placed in the right hands, I don't know what it. For more info, visit the source posts over at Deadline and Screen Rant!
Next up, Yahoo! Movies has debuted a new trailer for Marvel Studios' first new superhero flick due this May, Thor! It features new footage of the God of Thunder (Played by Chris Hemsworth) and everyone else around his circle, most especially Odin (played by Anthony Hopkins) who manages to show his fighting side in the trailer! For more on the scoop, visit the source post at Screen Rant, and you can check it out here via Yahoo! Movies!

Dead Island's trailer is just depressing...
I haven't heard much about Dead Island apart from the fact that it's another survival horror game... with zombies. The difference with the competition is that it's a first person shooter game developed by Techland for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, and it involves open world gameplay with survivors trying to get out of an island infested with the undead. Now even with that kind of scenario and mechanics, what makes it so different from games like Resident Evil, Left 4 Dead, and Dead Rising before it? A depressing trailer, that's what, and thanks to the likes of Kotaku and Slash Film, we get a taste of the true repercussions of Survival Horror.
Now THAT is how you tease a survival horror game... with sad moments.
Dead Island, published by Deep Silver and developed by Techland, is scheduled for release sometime this year. Visit the official Facebook for more info.

Video Game Review: Marvel Vs Capcom 3: Fate Of Two Worlds
After much teasing, planning, and a long wait to endure... Marvel Vs Capcom 3: Fate Of Two Worlds FINALLY arrives in consoles the world over for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 entertainment systems. After 11 years since Marvel Vs Capcom 2 hit arcades and caused a stir, a true sequel has finally been released, and people are definitely playing this one and talking about it. The question however stirring in everyone's mind now though is "Did it meet expectations"? Well, the short answer is a resounding "YES", but we'll get into that a little bit later. I bought the PS3 Collector's Edition version of this game yesterday, and I'm enjoying everything as I write this review. Do take a moment to simmer down, relax, and read this article as cautiously as possible. I've been a fighting game player for most of my life, and what I say in this review serves up only to my opinions regarding the game's performance based on my expectations, nothing more, nothing less. With that, let's take things for a ride and get the show on the road!

Looks like Smallville fans can breath a sigh of relief when the series ends this coming May, as Lex Luthor actor Michael Rosenbaum has given the green light for his return in the final episode of the final season! Oh, and for Lex to become the bad-ass he’s destined to be.” For more on this exclusive interview and the great news, visit the source post at TV Line!

The Dark Knight Rises Update: Joseph Gordon-Levitt rumored to play Alberto Falcone?!
This definitely needs to happen, and I do hope this is true!
Take this with a grain of salt for now, but based on a rumor that started over at Comic Book Movie and was eventually reported in Slash Film, it appears that Joseph Gordon-Levitt may have landed a role in Christopher Nolan's next Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises... and it may be a substantial one at that! According to the news, he may take on the role of Alberto Falcone, the son of mob boss Carmine Falcone, the leader of the Falcone Crime Family who was last seen in Batman Begins and played by veteran actor Tom Wilkinson. Anyone who knows their Batman stories knows that this would make perfect sense and is definitely the role that would make JGL's place in the Nolan Batverse perfect, since Alberto plays a major role in the classic comic book storyline Batman: The Long Halloween, which Christopher Nolan takes great inspiration from for his Batman movies. The fact of the matter is that JGL has the build and look to play this role, and if proven true, it will jive well with the serious tone Nolan has placed in his Batman movies so far. Not only that, it will make sense why Anne Hathaway was cast as Selina Kyle/ Catwoman. Her character has "personal business" and ties to the entire Falcone family, so it will pay tribute to the Jeph Loeb/ Tim Sale Batman and Catwoman stories in a big way. Take note, this is still a RUMOR, so there's no confirmation yet... but we'll probably know the real deal as the months trickle down to the film's shooting date! For more info, visit the source posts at Comic Book Movie and Slash Film!
The Dark Knight Rises will show in theaters worldwide on July 20, 2012!

Iron Man 3 Update: Shane Black being considered as new Director/ Writer!
Looks like Robert Downey Jr. may be getting a familiar face to work with even with Jon Favreau's departure as director of the Iron Man franchise, as Marvel is now in talks with director Shane Black to helm the next installment of the armored avenger's adventures in film!
The Hollywood Reporter and several other movies sites like Screen Rant report that Black, who directed RDJ in his post-rehad comeback film Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, is in negotiations to direct Iron Man 3, and he may also be attached to the project in a writing capacity as well. If this ends up being true, then not only is it reuniting Downey Jr. with Black, but it may also add a new layer of action that's much needed in the franchise. Shane worked on all four Lethal Weapon films, and it's action comedy punch may be what ol' shellhead's next film needs after the lukewarm reception everyone got from Iron Man 2 (not that it was a bad film, but it lost the charm the first film possessed and had too much emphasis on leading on to The Avengers rather than being a stand alone film). Since things haven't been confirmed yet, let's hope Shane Black wins the director's chair for Iron Man 3. For more info, visit the source posts at THR and Screen Rant.
Iron Man 3 comes bursting out to theaters on May 3, 2012.
DC announces Batman: Arkham City Tie-In!
DC Comics has dropped quite the bombshell announcement on their blog The Source, as they have announced a new miniseries starring Batman that ties directly to one of their upcoming games of this year, Batman: Arkham City! This six issue comic book series that shares the same name as the hotly anticipated game will be penned by Batman: the Animated Series scribe Paul Dini, and will bridge the gap between its prequel, the 2009 smash hit Batman: Arkham Asylum, and Arkham City itself. Taking place one year after the events of the first game, former Arkham warden turned Gotham City mayor Quincy Sharp closes down the institution, and in its place puts up a new facility in the heart of Gotham called "Arkham City". Inmates are free to do as they please within the fortified walls of this new Arkham as long as they don't attempt escape, and appointed by Sharp to run the madhouse is none other than Dr. Hugo Strange, a man who knows Batman's secret identity.
Set to be released and available in both print and digital formats this May, Arkham City is a story no Batman comic or video game fan would want to miss. Also announced is a series of "8-paged digital firsts", interludes that will alternate with the main issue released digitally, which will expand the story and give fans a look at the inmates who try to wrestle each other for power over Arkham City! For more info on the prices and details on the miniseries, visit DC's official blog The Source!

Movie Review: Black Swan
Darren Aronofsky's "Black Swan" really surprised me, and I wasn't expecting to get blown away by it well until I was already in the middle of the movie where its ugly and intense "psychological drama" head popped right into the picture. To be fair, I've heard so many praises and great things about this movie beforehand, and that was like two months ago when the movie started showing in US theaters officially. I simply could not relate with why people found it so good, and I only had the trailer to guide me through as to what the premise was all about, showing a struggling ballet dancer played by Natalie Portman succumb to the pressures inside and outside of the coveted ballet performance she is aiming to highlight and star on - "Swan Lake". Heck, I wasn't even aware that Mila Kunis and Winona Ryder were co-starring on the film, and now that I've seen it via the long awaited local press screening, I can finally give my two cents worth on possibly one of the best psycho-art films I've ever gotten the chance to sit through and see to completion.

Captain America Update: The First Official Poster Revealed!
Movie news sites Yahoo! Movies and Screen Rant have revealed the first official poster to one of this summer blockbuster superhero movie - Captain America: The First Avenger! Check out Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, standing with full Cap gear (minus the mask) and bowing his head down, holding the iconic circular shield down amidst the ashes of a battlefield in World War II!
Like what you see? The poster pays homage to a certain issue of Captain America drawn by artist Steve Epting, in which Cap is in the exact same pose, but with the mask on! I happen to own a copy of said issue myself, and here's an image of it below for comparison's sake!
Looking awesome, noh? The poster comes just in time as anticipation builds for the long awaited first trailer of this upcoming Marvel patriotic flick, which is set to debut this Sunday during the Super Bowl! It's definitely going to be a big game everyone's gonna watch, and a lot of trailers are gonna be shown during halftime! We'll just have to wait and see when they pop up online! Samuel L. Jackson confirms Nick Fury will appear in Thor and Captain America!
Regardless of the fact that he stated once before that he would not be appearing on either Thor or Captain America: The First Avenger, it appears that things have turned around, and Samuel L. Jackson has now confirmed that he will indeed be making a cameo appearance as Nicholas Joseph Fury in those films, in addition to his confirmed appearance The Avengers movie! According to a post on Slash Film, Sammy J will be filming one-day shoots for both films for the cameo appearance, which have a good chance of being post-credit scenes involving the director of S.H.I.E.L.D and something that ties the respective hero's movie to the big superhero film of 2012! There's also rumors going about that Sam's got a female companion set to join him in The Avengers. Could this be his second in command in S.H.I.E.L.D, Maria Hill perhaps, or Janet Van Dyne, aka The Wasp? Only time can tell for sure once more updates pop up. For now, check out the embedded video below featuring Jackson being interviewed about his upcoming roles in those Marvel films, and for more info, check out the source post at Slash Film!

The Dark Knight Rises Update: JGL joining in as well?
Deadline as well as Newsarama have reported that actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt is close to sealing a deal and re-team with his Inception director Christopher Nolan in The Dark Knight Rises. The actor who played Leonardo DiCaprio's "Point Man" Arthur in the 2010 dream-bending action film is in talks with Nolan to play a part in the third Batman movie, but his role is still unspecified as of this point. Months ago, he was rumored to be The Riddler, as well as a potential replacement for the late Heath Ledger's role as The Joker from The Dark Knight. All of those whispers proved false however, but now it can be confirmed that JGL may be cast in Nolan's new Bat-flick. We'll just have to wait and see how this goes, but it will also reunite the actor with Tom Hardy, who also co-starred in Inception as Eames and will be playing Bane in The Dark Knight Rises.
