ICMYI: Ryan Reynolds crashes Hugh Jackman's "X-Men cast reunion"
It's been almost 20 years since the first "X-Men" film was released and started the former 20th Century Fox's "X-Men Movies" universe, and to kind of commemorate that milestone - Wolverine star and actor Hugh Jackman had a "cast reunion" with his co-stars like Patrick Stewart/ Professor X, Halle Berry/ Storm, and Famke Janssen/ Jean Grey to reminisce about the good times and playing Marvel's Merry Mutants in the big screen.
That is until Deadpool star and actor Ryan Reynolds shows up in the conference uninvited... And some hilarious stuff ensues that you just need to watch the video via Global Citizen for yourselves.

Happy Birthday to Tobey Maguire, aka the first movie Spider-Man!
It's a day for celebration and remembrance for fans of Spider-Man and the live action movies of the past, as the first actor to play the role in a big budget Hollywood superhero movie way before the Marvel Cinematic Universe was a thing celebrates his birthday today!
Tobias Vincent Maguire, better known as Tobey Maguire - celebrates his 45th birthday this June 27th! How time flies and it's been almost two decades since he put on the mask and webs and played our very first version of "Spider-Man" in the big screen! He would continue to play that role for two more sequels - which would be collectively known as the "Spider-Man Trilogy" and all were directed by Sam Raimi of "Evil Dead" fame,
While Tobey hasn't been seen in the big screen on a major role for quite some time, he's been keeping busy behind the scenes by being a film producer for many films. Hopefully for us Spidey fans who loved Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, he might make the dream come true and make a comeback in the sequel to the animated movie - reprising the role he made famous!

"Zack Snyder's Justice League" reported to arrive in early 2021
It looks like DC fans and moviegoers are not going to have to wait long for Zack Snyder's cut of "Justice League" on HBO Max. According to Warner Media Entertainment's Sandra Dewey (via a report by Superherohype and Variety), the film is expected to have a release window between early to mid-2021 - putting it in time for a summer release.
After showcasing a sneak peek clip this past week of Wonder Woman finding an image of Darkseid, hype has certainly mounted up for the "Snyder Cut" - which has been highly requested in social media after the lukewarm reception to the theatrical release of "Justice League". Snyder had to depart during post-production of the DCEU movie due to a family tragedy, with fellow director Josh Whedon stepping in to complete his work. Thankfully, we will finally get to see how his version will play out - in whatever form Warner Bros., DC Films, and HBO decide when it releases on HBO Max next year.
Be sure also to watch out for the DC FanDome online convention this August for more announcements on Zack Snyder's Justice League!

ICYMI: Legendary film director Joel Schumacher passes away at 80
Sad news rocked the film world and Hollywood, as veteran filmmaker and director Joel Schumacher passed away on Monday morning June 22nd. As reported by Variety, the helmer of films such as "The Lost Boys", "Falling Down", "The Client", "A Time To Kill", "8mm", "Phone Booth", and "The Number 23" passed on at the age of 80 after a year long-battle with cancer, and fans and peers in the movie industry have taken to social media to pay tribute to the fashion and stylish director.
Schumacher was also best known for directing the latter two Batman films after Tim Burton - "Batman Forever" and "Batman and Robin" respectively. The first one had Val Kilmer replacing Michael Keaton in the Batsuit, and also featured Chris O'Donnell as Dick Grayson/ Robin as the Dynamic Duo took on Tommy Lee Jones' Two-Face and Jim Carrey's Riddler, and it proved to be a more action paced film than its predecessors. The next film however in "Batman and Robin" almost derailed the Batman movie franchise thanks to its campy tones, and not even the star-studded cast that includes George Clooney's Batman and Arnold Schwarzenegger's Mr. Freeze could save it. Schumacher went on to apologize for that sequel's performance, and things wouldn't be revitalized until Christopher Nolan took on the franchise and gave us the critically acclaimed Batman films that make up The Dark Knight Trilogy.
No matter how you viewed his career, Schumacher did what he did passionately as a film maker and entertained audiences. R.I.P Joel Schumacher. :(

Looking back at Batman Begins - 15 years later and its legacy is still going strong
Just like that, it's been a decade and a half since Warner Bros. and director Christopher Nolan took a stab at the Batman film franchise - when prospects looked bleak moving forward for DC Comics' flagship character after 1997's "Batman and Robin" - and literally brought the character back to his roots and reinvigorated the franchise with 2005's "BATMAN BEGINS" a grounded realism and telling the definite origin story of the future Dark Knight - who he is and how he came to be.
Just with the release of the very first teaser trailer in 2004 - we already knew we were going to be in for a wild ride and a Batman story that would be a superhero movie yet have none of the camp and comedy that featured heavily in the past movies - putting the franchise into a bit of a hiatus before finally getting its second wind as a brand to take very seriously.
Nolan, then known for films "Memento" and "Insomnia", was a big Batman fan himself and looked to tell the definitive Bruce Wayne story - an aspect of the character that was briefly touched on but never explored in full detail in a Batman movie save for the death of his parents. The journey and training of Wayne as well as the influences and experiences he received were the focal points of "Batman Begins" that drove us, the viewers and fans, to see Bruce Wayne's rise from a traumatized individual into the vigilante hero who adopts the persona of his childhood fear - turning it into a symbol to strike fear into the hearts and minds of criminals that plague his hometown of Gotham City.
Featuring an ensemble cast lead by Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/ Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Liam Neeson as Henri Ducard, Gary Oldman as James Gordon, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes, Cillian Murphy as Jonathan Crane/ Scarecrow, Ken Watanabe as Ra's Al Ghul, and Rutger Hauer as Hauer William Earle, Batman Begins was poised to be a blockbuster and triumphant return for the Caped Crusader and cinema - and sure enough it was. It spawned two sequel in 2008's "The Dark Knight" and 2012's "The Dark Knight Rises" - completing Bruce Wayne's story and crusade with a "beginning, middle, and end" structure that collectively went on to be known as "The Dark Knight Trilogy", and solidifying Christopher Nolan's place as one of Hollywood's film prodigies and innovators.
Happy 15 years, Batman Begins!

"Iron Man" will relaunch in September, with Christopher Cantwell writing and Alex Ross contributing a new "Red & Gold" armor
Following the end of Dan Slott's run on the character and the "Iron Man 2020" saga, Tony Stark is reclaiming his identity and going "Back To Basics", as Marvel has announced that a new "Iron Man" series will launch and debut this September - written by "Halt & Catch Fire" creator Christopher Cantwell and art duties by CAFU. Superstar comic book artist Alex Ross will also be handling comic cover duties, as well as designing the new armor Tony suits up in - which looks like his iconic "Red and Gold" classic armor only with modern refurbishings.
In a statement ran by Marvel and reported by GamesRadar/ Newsarama and Superherohype, Cantwell had nothing but excitement to share:
“I’m over the moon about getting a shot at writing the Golden Avenger, Since Bob Layton’s art in the 1980s captured my imagination as a kid, I’ve been fascinated by Iron Man, and in this new story run, I’m aiming to explore the question: who should Iron Man be today? An angel? A god? Or just a humble man? Tony’s going to try and strip the idea of Iron Man all the way down to its metal core, something that will constantly be at odds with his giant ego. We’ll see if he can truly keep his arrogant self-image in check, even as others with god complexes set their sights on the entire universe.”
Iron Man launches into comic book shops with a brand new #1 this September 2020.

Sony unveils the Playstation 5 - Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Resident Evil VIII, and Horizon: Forbidden West among showcases
As revealed at the end of their livestream event presentation that promised to showcase "The Future of Gaming", Sony finally showcased their next generation unit in the Playstation 5 - a white and black system with all the finishings of a sleek new space gadget you can't to test run. It comes in two versions - one with a Blu-Ray drive and a Digital only version, and both will have the brand new DualSense controller. Check out the hardware reveal.
Delivering the first look at the hardware also meant teasing the games and exclusives that are coming to the system, and we got a great look at those titles - some of which are featured here with their very own trailers.
First off and definitely an AMAZING REVEAL after the announcement of a Grand Theft Auto V re-release that started the show - Insomniac Games is following up on their awesome 2018 video game in "Marvel's Spider-Man" with the next chapter in the saga - "Spider-Man: Miles Morales"!
As the title implies - you will control and guide the new kid on the block in Miles Morales, as he gets his iconic black and red costume and swings into action as a new Spider-Man under Peter Parker's tutelage. This will be a Launch Title for the PS5 and hits this Holiday 2020!
After leaks surfaced online that the direction of the series would once again follow in the footsteps of 2017's Resident Evil VII, Capcom did the reveal and officially confirmed Resident Evil VII - Styled as "VILLAGE" in the teaser and featuring the return of Ethan Winters and Chris Redfield. Also harkening back to an RE4 style of remote village and castle atmosphere, the game goes first person again and feels more horror centered - foregoing the zombies for werewolves and other supernatural monstrosities.
And in another big surprise that will get fans of another 2017 game up in arms, Aloy returns and the world overrun by machines is explored even further as "Horizon: Forbidden West" is coming to PS5 next year.
Along with other awesome reveals like Deathloop, Shinji Mikami's Ghostwire: Tokyo, Hitman III, and new IP's Pragmata by Capcom and Returnal by Sony Worldwide Studios, the future of gaming looks set and all we need is a release date and price point. Game on Sony and waiting on those details as we look forward to the launch of the PS5 this holiday season!

Nightwing makes his long awaited return in cover to Batman #99
Ever since he got shot in the head by the KGBeast in Batman #55, Richard "Dick" Grayson's life has literally turned upside down and has never been the same for fans of the former Robin turned Nightwing. Batman went on a mission to avenge his fallen adopted son/ ward, but after Dick recovers he is not the same man. He doesn't remember ANYTHING after the death of his parents, and that amnesia pretty much erases his time as a hero and his history with the Bat Family. Beginning with Nightwing #50, he goes by the name "Ric Grayson" - and tries to lead a new life as a cab driver and normal civilian. That doesn't stick though, as his past somehow comes back to haunt him with four individuals taking up the Nightwing persona as a team, dealing with the Court of Owls, and "Ric" is pulled back into the world of crimefighting due to instinct and a feeling.
That will all come to a head in "Joker War" apparently, and via Newsarama/ Gamesradar and artist Jorge Jimenez on Twitter, it looks like Dick Grayson/ Nightwing will be back to reclaim his identity at long last if the cover to Batman #99 is any indication! I sure hope so - as MANY HAVE WAITED FOR DICK TO RETURN. It all leads to the milestone issue of Batman #100 this October... And one can only hope this is the payoff.
Batman #99, written by James Tynion IV and illustrated by Jorge Jimenez - is solicited for a September release.

Zack Snyder's Justice League will include this change according to the director
Zack Snyder's cut of Justice League is indeed coming to HBO Max next year, and the director is hard at work in releasing the version he wanted to present to fans and viewers before he had to step away from the final stretch of the project due to a family tragedy. Still answering questions over at his Vero account, the director did give one update - that he would be changing the "red sky" background back to the original blue seen in the original trailers of the film. That would obviously mean that he's saving the red for something big... Can anyone say Darkseid?
Read more about it over at Comic Book.com. Zack Snyder's Justice League will premiere on HBO Max on 2021.

ICYMI: DC Comics severs ties with Diamond Comic Distributors
In a move that has taken the comic book retail world by storm, DC Comics has decided to cut ties with worldwide comics distributor Diamond Comic Distributors - marking the end of over two decades of partnership and the loss of the second biggest distributor in the North American market. The news was delivered by The Hollywood Reporter - and DC has decided to pair with Lunar Distribution and UCS Comic Distributors for periodical releases, while Penguin Publishing House handles their collected editions and graphic novels.
“After 25 years, DC and Diamond Comic Distributors are ending their long-standing relationship. Moving forward, comic book retailers can obtain their DC books from Penguin Random House, or their books and periodicals through Lunar or UCS comic book distributors. DC continues to be committed to providing the Direct Market with best in class service and the fans with the world’s greatest comic books.” Said a spokesperson from DC.

ICYMI: Batwoman Season 2 will introduce a new lead character
Following Ruby Rose's departure from the series where she played the lead character and cousin of Bruce Wayne, a new report by The Hollywood Reporter states that the character of Kate Kane won't be replaced - and instead a new one will be donning the cape and cowl of "Batwoman" for the second season of the brand new CW superhero series set in the Arrowverse.
According to the report, word of the new casting choice came from a Batwoman Reddit Forum c/o Decider - which states that the new character's name is supposedly "Ryan Wilder", and that "She’s likable, messy, a little goofy and untamed. She’s also nothing like Kate Kane, the woman who wore the batsuit before her," the notice reads, according to Decider. "With no one in her life to keep her on track, Ryan spent years as a drug-runner, dodging the GCPD and masking her pain with bad habits. A girl who would steal milk for an alley cat could also kill you with her bare hands, Ryan is the most dangerous type of fighter: highly skilled and wildly undisciplined. An out lesbian. Athletic. Raw. Passionate. Fallible. And very much not your stereotypical All-American hero."
Guess we'll find out eventually what the changes will be as work and production on Batwoman Season 2 is currently ongoing.
