Beware The Batman undergoing changes in wake of Colorado Tragedy
In light of the previous week's tragic incident in Aurora, Colorado, Warner Animation is making subsequent changes of the content for next year's new CGI Batman animated series "Beware The Batman". Variety and Newsarama report that Warner Animation VP series executive producer Sam Register reportedly ordered a review of the series to make alterations, including "changing the shape of gun barrels from round to square for the purpose of rendering the weapons in a more stylized manner reminiscent of sci-fi fare."
First announced last year, Beware The Batman is scheduled for a Spring 2013 release, and features a sword wielding Katana and a gun-totting Alfred Pennyworth as allies in the Caped Crusader's fight against injustice. The latter figure's demeanor alone will get the brunt of changes if this report proves true. For more info, visit the source posts at Variety and Newsarama.

The Dark Knight Rises: Whatever Happened To The Joker?
For those who have seen or have yet to see The Dark Knight Rises, it's a given by the synopsis alone that the film takes place eight years after the events of The Dark Knight. The Joker, played and immortalized by the late Heath Ledger, was understandably missing because of the Australian actor's passing and director Christopher Nolan choosing not to incorporate the character to honor Ledger's memory. However, the novelization of TDKR briefly mentions the criminal mastermind, and a fan has taken the liberty of creating a storyboard sequence where we find out one interpretation of what exactly happened to the so called Clown Prince of Crime.

The Dark Knight actor Christian Bale visits Aurora Colorado victims
In what is undoubtedly a noble and honorable gesture coming from the heart, Batman star and British actor Christian Bale was spotted visiting the victims of the recent Aurora Colorado theater shooting at the Medical Center of Aurora. The Denver Post reports that the man who played Bruce Wayne and his alter ego in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy was seen visiting the hospital this Tuesday afternoon, staying for 2 1/2 hours and meeting five people still being treated for their injuries. He wasn't representing Warner Bros., and he was just doing this on his own, as this video report from ENTV reports:
Truly, I tip my hat off to Christian Bale for doing such a wonderful thing and making a difference in his own right for the victims of this horrible incident that occurred during a midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises". He really is THE Batman, and a true hero for doing what he can to bring smiles and cheers to those fans hospitalized. For more on this story, visit the source post at The Denver Post

Riding the wave of success for nearly a week since its release last Friday, The Dark Knight Rises is making headlines, already besting The Avengers in terms of midnight shows on its opening night. Christopher Nolan releases statement on TDKR Theater Shooting
Following the news of the tragic shooting incident at Colorado during a TDKR midnight screening, The Dark Knight Rises director himself, Christopher Nolan, released a statement:
"Speaking on behalf of the cast and crew of “The Dark Knight Rises”, I would like to express our profound sorrow at the senseless tragedy that has befallen the entire Aurora community. I would not presume to know anything about the victims of the shooting but that they were there last night to watch a movie. I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching a story unfold on screen is an important and joyful pastime. The movie theatre is my home, and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me. Nothing any of us can say could ever adequately express our feelings for the innocent victims of this appalling crime, but our thoughts are with them and their families."
Thanks goes to Batman-News and Comic Book Resources for the scoop on this.
Reactions to the TDKR/ Colorado Theater Shooting
The news of the Colorado Theater Shooting during a screening of The Dark Knight Rises hit the world hard today, myself included. Families and innocent people became victims to a senseless act of violence. The cancelation of the TDKR premiere in Paris is just one of those precautions taken to ensure safety and security of others. I hope the man who caused all of this is sentenced accordingly. I find the crime very appalling, and my heart and sympathies go out to the victims of this horrible crime. Let's pray for them and their families.

Spoiler-Free Review: The Dark Knight Rises
It shows today, and true enough, Christopher Nolan delivers the epic finish to the Dark Knight trilogy. I have a spoiler-filled review via my other site, but here's the short and sweet non-spoiler version for the public to note, featuring non-spoiler excerpts from the other detailed review. It opens today in cinemas in the Philippines, both in IMAX and conventional theaters. Thanks again goes to Warner Bros. Philippines and SM Cinema for the premiere!
Threequels rarely show that there's redeeming value for a franchise other than big box office numbers. Spider-Man 3 proved that some years ago, and there's rarely been any continuation of a story or movie that ended on a high note with expectation or promise. As such, it's a very big surprise and achievement to witness the final chapter to British-American director Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight saga with the film "The Dark Knight Rises". The film places an ending to the franchise that began with 2005's Batman Begins and escalated with 2008's The Dark Knight, and all plot threads and storylines built within the events of those two films culminate into one grand epic presentation, presented in both conventional and IMAX formats.
Breaking down the film itself, I will admit that it's epic in scale and fits nicely into the scheme of things. It plays down the eight year absence of Batman ala Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, and takes the isolation of Gotham and the Bane threat from No Man's Land and Knightfall respectively. Nolan has been known to be crafty when he creates his own treatment of Batman, and I thought this one served as a fitting ending to his saga. The only complaint I can think of frankly is Bane's voice in the prologue scene. They remastered and rerecorded it, and it just doesn't sound as authentic as it was months ago when it was shown in its original form. Other than that, while the film doesn't overshadow the success of its predecessor in terms of execution and plot, I still think it does an awesome job that earns it excellence in its own right. Some things felt anti-climactic, but it does what it can to end the story. It's literally Batman Begins' threat meets The Dark Knight's escalation, so it's the perfect conclusion to things in EPIC fashion.
In short, there's plenty of action and lots of exposition. Those who have seen Batman Begins and The Dark Knight owe it to themselves to see the conclusion to Chris Nolan's vision of Batman. Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, and Gary Oldman return to their respective roles, and Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Marion Cotillard add stellar performances for this movie. For 2 hours and 45 minutes of epicness, The Dark Knight Rises delivers on the promise of ending Batman's journey on a high and exciting note. Bank on it.
For more details and spoilers, read up my detailed review.

Inception: Revisiting the dream after two years
Inception is a masterpiece, that much is and always be certain. Carefully crafted by the guiding hand that brought us Memento, The Prestige, and the Dark Knight trilogy, Christopher Nolan brought a unique film that explored the concept of dream and reality while injecting it with a tale that makes it one of the most memorable movie experiences of all time. With the director's latest offering "The Dark Knight Rises" just around the corner this week, it's literally been two years since his previous film's release on just about the same time frame.
It's also because of Inception that we're going to be seeing stars like Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy, and Marion Cotillard back and taking on other significant roles in The Dark Knight Rises. I cannot stress how much you need to revisit this film if you're a fan, or if you haven't seen it yet... You Should.

Revealed by Marvel's Facebook page and Twitter, the House of Ideas has set up the amazing "Hall of Armor" display that will be featured in Iron Man 3! Also on display is the 8th and latest armor that Tony Stark will wear... The Mark VIII! The new suit is supposedly is a techno-armor that will be akin to the Extremis and Bleeding Edge armor seen in the comics. More gold than red. It's not exactly the iconic color scheme I'd settle with, but it's still an Iron Man armor I'm looking forward to seeing play out on the film.

Marvel NOW! launches this October!
After DC Comics successfully made waves last year rebooting their comic universe with "The New 52", many have questioned and asked when Marvel will follow suit and do a relaunch of their own. Now, fans of the House of Ideas have an answer, as the publisher gears itself up to launch up a new initiative that will see the rise of new titles and the rebirth of old ones - Marvel NOW!
As reported by several comic book websites and Entertainment Weekly and partly teased by the Jean Grey teaser, Marvel is shaking up their universe and releasing new titles, among them Uncanny Avengers (with cover above by Joe Quesada), a new flagship title that will see characters from X-Men and Avengers team-up to form one of the biggest incarnations of Earth's Mightiest Heroes combined! The publisher however is quick to note that what they're doing is NOT a reboot, but rather a "new beginning" that will unravel in the coming months ahead. More details and notes are available on the story via the source post at Entertainment Weekly. Be sure to visit Marvel.com to keep tabs on the story!

Teaser: Marvel will see Jean Grey return (again)
The inevitable will finally happen... Again. I can't say I'm too surprised by this given her "appearance" in Avengers Vs X-Men. After all, she IS the Phoenix, and her return is one of those things that just has happen after a brief period of absence.
Reported by the likes of Bleeding Cool and Superherohype, it appears that Cyclops' ex-wife and x-Men teammate Jean Grey will be coming back from the dead and returning to the pages of Marvel Comics sometime very soon. Entertainment Weekly reported the scoop, and has also posted a teaser pic drawn by Joe Quesada to confirm that the former Marvel Girl and Phoenix will indeed be coming back. How and in what capacity though still remains to be seen. For more info and details on the story, visit the source post at Bleeding Cool, Superherohype, and EW!
