Super Street Fighter II Turbo and Akuma/ Gouki turn 20 years old
If you're a fan of Street Fighter like I am, chances are that you may be aware that today's a pretty special day... As not only does February 23 commemorate the 20th anniversary release of Super Street Fighter II Turbo (aka SSFII X: Grand Master Challenge in Japan), but also the very first appearance of a certain... Hidden Character.
And here's the classic arcade intro to start things with nostalgia.
As the fifth version/ update of Street Fighter II to hit arcades then eventually consoles of the time, SSFII Turbo introduced "Super Combos" into the franchise, forever introducing the concept of building meter and finishing off opponents in a flashy way. This game was pretty much the pinnacle of the series, and was revived again more than a decade later with the release of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, which introduced new hand drawn sprites and graphics based on UDON's popular Street Fighter comic book series.
And of course, there's the introduction of Akuma/ Gouki... Aka the brother AND man who killed Ryu and Ken's master, Gouken. Fast, wily, and almost impossible to beat at the time, this hidden boss character only appeared and was fought against after the player fulfilled certain requirements. He then appears, defeats M. Bison/ Vega, and challenges your character to a fight. He has faster moves than the Shoto brothers, and also used an air fireball and the "Raging Demon" finisher to boot. He was also a playable character via a secret code, but was largely toned down compared to the CPU version. Eventually, the character became so popular than he appeared in succeeding Street Fighter games as a playable or secret character to use, and the legacy has continued on since.

Rumor: Ben Affleck's Batsuit for "Batman Vs Superman" and Gal Gadot as "Wonder Woman" reportedly debuting next week
Since the official casting announcement last year led many to have various mixed reactions, a lot of people have been anxiously waiting to see the first official photo of actor/ director Ben Affleck donning the cape and cowl and suiting up as Batman for Zack Snyder's upcoming sequel to his Superman reboot flick "Man of Steel", which hasn't been officially titled and is still going under the common alias of "Batman Vs Superman". Opposite Henry Cavill's Clark Kent/ Superman, Affleck will play Bruce Wayne/ Batman, and the characterization is said to be a Bats in his 40's and bearing a similar role to that of an older Dark Knight in Frank Miller's seminal classic Batman story - Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. Despite the mixed reactions, Affleck's friends and fellow stars Kevin Smith, Matt Damon, and even wife Jennifer Garner have seen him in the suit, and gave nothing but positive remarks for it.
Let's not forget that also joining the Man of Steel and Caped Crusader is Fast and the Furious franchise star Gal Gadot, who was before the end of 2013 as Wonder Woman. She, along with Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth round up the big line of characters appearing in this mega sequel, so patience should be a virtue.
Hoever, excitement is building over word that the very first photo of Affleck as Batman and Gadot as Wonder Woman may appear before the end of February, as the delay from 2015 to 2016 for "Bats Vs Supes" has pushed production to a longer filming schedule. The news comes from Mark Hughes, a Forbes Blogger who tweeted the following:
Okay, fans, get ready, a bat-suit & WW reveal seems to be imminent, as in possibly days away!

Gotham TV Series: Ben McKenzie is your new James Gordon
Looks like things are progressing smoothly for FOX and Warner Bros. Television's attempt to showcase characters from the Batman Universe in the small screen, as both companies have finally chosen their actor to play a younger James Gordon in "Gotham"... "The O.C." and "Southland's" Ben McKenzie!
An origin TV Series set years before The Batman came into the picture, "Gotham" explores the origins of James Gordon, the villains/ supercriminals, and a young Bruce Wayne before they all made their mark and changed the city as we now know it to be. It's certainly cranking up the interest rate for the show, and McKenzie took to Twitter to express his thoughts on his casting:
All I can promise is I will do my best not to screw this up. Can't wait to get to work.
— Ben McKenzie (@ben_mckenzie) February 8, 2014
Funny fact: Bruce Wayne/ Batman in Batman: Year One was voiced by McKenzie as well, while Bryan Cranston from Breaking Bad fame voiced Gordon... Talk about switcheroo!!!

Arrow's Stephen Amell opens his own YouTube channel
Undoubtedly one of the best TV shows and certainly a certified hit with each passing episode of its ongoing second season, The CW's newest superhero TV Series "Arrow" has attracted a lot of followers, thanks to its compelling and rich storytelling centered on the rising tale of Oliver Queen from vigilante to hero in Starling City. After releasing a couple of fresh and slick looking character posters to build up excitement for the movie's release, Marvel Studios and Disney up the ante more by releasing a brand new theatrical poster for their next Marvel Cinematic Universe move for "Phase 2", Captain America: The Winter Solider.
After seeing Cap/ Chris Evans, Nick Fury/ Samuel L. Jackson, and Black Widow/ Scarlett Johansson get their own solo posters, it's time for the whole cast to converge into one epic looking piece, and joining the fun are Robert Redford's character of senior S.H.I.E.L.D. leader Alexander Pierce, and Sebastian Stan returning as Steve Rogers' missing friend Bucky Barnes, now converted into the mysterious assassin known as The Winter Soldier.
