Rumors are swirling in the Hollywood grapevine each and everyday, and the latest one as reported by ComicBook.com is pretty interesting - as Mad Max film franchise director George Miller is being rumored as the director for "Man Of Steel 2" according to "The Death of Superman Lives" documentary director Jon Schnepp.
Jon Schnepp Guests! NBC's Powerless, & RIP Yvonne Craig - DC Movie News #39 (August 20th, 2015)
In the latest episode of PopCorn Talk in YouTube, Schnepp weighed in the rumor without saying much or expounding on where he got that bit of information. It's an interesting rumor to say the least, since Miller was once primed to helm a Justice League film of his own in "Justice League Mortal" years ago which would have seen the likes of Armie Hammer as Batman and DJ Cotrona as Superman. Now with "Mad Max: Fury Road" a success and everything else open in terms of the future, is this Warner Bros. giving the director a shot at the DC Cinematic Universe? Only time will tell.
For now, catch Henry Cavill back as Superman as he takes on Ben Affleck's Batman with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - coming to theaters on on March 25, 2016!
Speeding its way to TV sets in less than two months with a brand new season that promises more chills, spills, and exploring a multiverse of characters, The CW has released a brand new promo for the second season of The Flash called "Coming Fast", which has some snippets of new footage that features not only The Scarlet Speedster, but Cisco and the others as well.
Exactly 20 years ago this week, New Line Cinema, Threshold Entertainment, and director Paul W.S. Anderson adapted one of the most popular AND controversial video games into film - a game conceptualized by Ed Boon and John Tobias and produced then by video game company Midway Games.
The end result was Mortal Kombat - a 1995 movie that pretty much was everything that a video game movie should be and then some - over-the-top action with lots of violence and gore that saw a handful of warriors engaging in a tournament that determined the fate of the world.
If that formula sounds cheesy or ambitious, it certainly was for its time... But this film adaptation had all the elements that made the game it was based on extremely popular to those who enjoyed fighting games and finishing off their opponents in gruesome fashion. Not only that, it featured a trained cast that pretty much embraced their roles well and gave life to "Klassic Kharacters" that were essential to the plot of the games and movie in Robin Shou as Liu Kang, Linden Ashby as Johnny Cage, Bridgette Wilson as Sonya Blade, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Shang Tsung (YOUR SOUL IS MINE~!), and Christopher "Highlander" Lambert as Rayden.
Mortal Kombat 1995 Trailer
As one of the earliest and highest grossing movies based on a video game, Mortal Kombat succeeded in becoming #1 in the box office and inspiring a franchise of live-action adaptations based on the series. It's follow-up, Mortal Kombat Annihilation, was more of a forgettable sequel than anything else and failed to live-up to expectations. Fortunately in 2011, a reboot of the live-action series was realized after the release of the short film Mortal Kombat: Rebirth, which inspired the web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy that ran for two seasons. The reinvigoration of the Mortal Kombat video game franchise under Ed Boon and NetherRealm Studios also helped to renew interest in the series, with a new Mortal Kombat film is now currently in development with James Wan signing in to produce it.
The Immortals - "Mortal Kombat" Music Video 1995

Mortal Kombat was released in theaters in August 18, 1995.

Finally opening this week after going through quite a controversial journey behind-the-scenes with its production process, Josh Trank'sFantastic Four has officially been declared a flop and earned only $11.3 Million on Friday in the US. The film, a new reboot that follows the 2005 film and its sequel Rise of the Silver Surfer, was plagued with criticism and nasty reviews from all angles, with even the director himself dissing his own movie and blaming the studio for numerous changes done behind the scenes.
Whatever the case may be, it's safe to say that this reboot has been labeled as "totally unnecessary" and far from being "Fantastic" by the fans and viewers alike. It's better if Fox gives back the rights to Marvel Studios and send the team, who was once proudly called "Marvel's First Family", back home.
Fantastic Four is currently playing in theaters worldwide.
