Marvel reveals Spider-Man's "New Look", which debuts on Amazing Spider-Man #61

Just before the holidays end and we say goodbye to 2020, Marvel has officially unveiled the "new look" Peter Parker will sport in the pages of "The Amazing Spider-Man" next year - and it's a new white-blue costume with orange linings reminiscent of the "Big Time" suit, but with bright circular eyes and even shades of grey added to it.

Designed by Dustin Weaver with inputs by writer Nick Spencer and editor Nick Lowe, the new suit will debut on the pages of ASM #61, and features in the covers here for ASM #62 and 63. Why Peter chooses to suit up and make a change is not yet revealed, but we'll definitely find out soon enough when the issue releases next year. So far, the costume has drawn some mixed reactions, and looks more like another change to serve the narrative.

You can read up more about the new costume via Marvel.com.

Happy New Year and Stay Safe all!

DC Comics March 2021 Solicitations Released, Infinite Frontier Era Begins

It is indeed a new “Infinite Frontier” that begins for DC Comics after the events of Dark Nights: Death Metal and Future State, as the publisher has revealed its plans for the new initiative in its March 2021 solicitations as detailed by Newsarama. It kicks off with an anthology sized “Infinite Frontier #0” issue - which is 64 pages of new story setups and revealing what will come in the next phase of the DC Universe, with the likes of Joshua Williamson, Scott Snyder, James Tyrion IV, Geoff Johns, and Brian Michael Bendis writing stories while John Timms, David Marquez, and more provide art duties.

The new status quo will see changes in characters, teams, and new ongoing series for some. Here’s the description of what we can expect:

"In Gotham City, The Joker jolts citizens awake with an attack even the Dark Knight never expected," DC's description continues.

"In Brazil, a young woman discovers her destiny and her connection to the Amazons. In Belle Reve, Amanda Waller plots an invasion of Arkham Asylum. In the far reaches of space, Mongul dreams of galactic domination, while the Green Lantern Corps hosts a summit of its greatest enemies. At the Hall of Justice, the League joins forces with Black Adam. Beyond the mortal world, Wonder Woman settles into a new role in the godsphere. And somewhere in the DC Universe—it’s the return of Stargirl, in an all-new tale written by Geoff Johns!"

Prepare for DC’s Infinite Frontier on March 2021.

Brian Michael Bendis teases the new Justice League for DC's "Infinite Frontier" era

Posted on his Instagram on the eve of the expected DC Comics March 2021 solicitations, it looks like Brian Michael Bendis' next project after handling Superman and Young Justice will be none other than the core team of DC - the Justice League.

As reported by Newsarama, the new line-up is going to be quite the mixed line-up of heroes, with mainstays like Superman, Batman, Aquaman, and Hawkgirl returning. However the line-up looks to be shaken with new and old faces filling up the ranks, with Green Arrow and Black Canary added to the league, Hippolyta and the Bendis created character Naomi McDuffie joining as well, and what looks to be either Shazam (formerly Captain Marvel) or Black Adam in the center.

We'll know soon enough what the story and the line-up is for this iteration of the league once it's officially announced, with Bendis writing and artist David Marquez teaming up once more for this next high profile project.

Tom King reveals Helena Wayne’s new look for Batman/ Catwoman

“Hello Helena” indeed.🦇🐈

Looking like a chip off the ol’ Bat and Cat block, Batman Catwoman writer Tom King has revealed a new image featuring the daughter of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle in Helena Wayne - sporting a new look that combines the best of both worlds from her parents with art by artist Clay Mann. As part of his new ongoing series that continues from his Batman run and explores the romance between Batman and Catwoman in the past, present, and future, this new look for Helena begs the question whether she is still using the “Huntress” name, or has embraced her father’s legacy by becoming the new Batgirl or Batwoman thanks to the new cowl that’s very much in line with the original look The Bat-Man had in his first appearance. We’ll know soon enough what this is as Batman Catwoman continues, with solicitations for issue #4 expected to be released soon by DC.

Batman: Earth One Vol. 3 will be released on June 2021

Almost six years after the release of the last volume chronicling the Earth One graphic novel adventures of Bruce Wayne and his winged avenger alter ego, DC Comics has officially announced that "Batman: Earth One Vol. 3" will finally see release in the summer of next year - continuing the story following the apparent demise of Harvey Dent, the defeat of The Riddler, and the growing network and ongoing crimefighting crusade of The Batman in Gotham City.

Via Newsarama, here's the official synopsis of the new chapter that is once again written by Geoff Johns and illustrated by Gary Frank - fresh off their last collaboration in "Doomsday Clock".

"Harvey Dent is dead. Or is he? A gang of thieves thrusts Gotham City into a state of fear when they are mysteriously well-armed with military-grade weapons: flamethrowers, grenade launchers, and even tanks, And this gang claims it is funded by none other than former district attorney Harvey Dent."

"Balancing his two lives, Bruce Wayne must find the truth by tapping his growing network of agents, including Alfred Pennyworth, Jim Gordon, Waylon 'Killer Croc' Jones, and the savvy new Catwoman, Bruce is distracted by the seemingly impossible return of another figure believed dead: his grandfather Adrian Arkham. He must also comfort his longtime friend, Gotham City mayor Jessica Dent, who is scarred both physically and mentally from her experience with the Riddler, which resulted in the gruesome death of her brother."

"But is Harvey back, plotting revenge on a city he proclaims to be guilty? When Batman discovers the truth behind these many mysteries, his entire world unravels…"

Long awaited since Vol. 2 was released in 2015,  the Batman: Earth One series is one of the latest modern reinterpretations of the Caped Crusader that is grounded closer to reality and is a great springboard for newer fans to jump into. In many ways, it has served as an inspiration for Matt Reeves' upcoming Batman film "The Batman", wherein The Riddler, Catwoman, The Penguin, and even Alfred Pennyworth feel inspired from the Earth One continuity counterparts.

Batman: Earth One Vol. 3 will be released on June 8, 2021.

WandaVision to explore the origins of Scarlet Witch's powers

Looks like fans are going to get a lot of answers about the origins of Wanda Maximoff aka the Scarlet Witch's powers when "WandaVision" premieres on Disney + on January next year, as Marvel Studios head and MCU architect Kevin Feige has teased in a feature by Empire that Elizabeth Olsen's character will be fleshed out as her romance with Paul Bettany's Vision continues in a seemingly fantasy alternate reality that more or less was created by her.

“If you look at the Infinity Saga, I don’t think any single person has gone through more pain and trauma than Wanda Maximoff. And no character seems to be as powerful as Wanda Maximoff. And no character has a power-set that is as ill-defined and unexplored as Wanda Maximoff,” MCU boss Kevin Feige tells Empire. “So it seemed exploring that would be worthwhile post-Endgame. Who else is aware of that power? Where did it come from? Did the Mind Stone unlock it?”

Read more about the Empire feature here and check out more photos there.

WandaVision will debut on Disney + on December 15.

ICYMI: Zack Snyder reveals how much new footage his cut of Justice League will have

For those who were curious about just how much new footage will be added in "Zack Snyder's Justice League" now that reshoots are being done, you might be a little disappointed with the news, as Zack Snyder revealed during an interview with "Beyond The Trailer" just how much new stuff he's shooting - and that includes Jared Leto's return as The Joker to boot.

Here's the full interview below, followed by quotes of what he mentioned there:

Zack Snyder Interview - New Look for Joker, Snyder Cut 2021 New Scenes

"I will say that in the end it’s going to probably be about four minutes or five minutes of additional photography for the entire movie. In the four hours that is Justice League, maybe four minutes."

Even if it's just four minutes, there's plenty of stuff that was left out in the 2017 film that made up the theatrical release which never saw the light of day. - as "Justice League" was overseen by Joss Whedon when Snyder had to step out due to a family tragedy.

Now that Zack Snyder is overseeing things and reviving his vision, this is still a version of the film as intended by the director that people will want to see - especially since it's split into four parts and will air in HBO Max next year.

Entertainment Weekly has spotlighted the upcoming new series, and has released some exclusive new images in the article - which features interviews with King and Mann as well as the writer declaring that the "Bat Cat" duo are officially married as far as he's concerned, as well as detailing what the run will be about - concentrating on the past, present, and future as Bruce and Selina go on a journey that spans their early years, their marriage, and that future where an older Selina goes on a case after her husband's death. Also, new costumes and the DC Universe debut of Phantasm, aka Andrea Beaumont from Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.

ICYMI: WandaVision will debut in Disney + on January 2021

As fans held out to hope that the series would possibly air before the year ends on Disney's new streaming service, Marvel Studios and Disney have officially confirmed that "WandaVision" will instead premiere on Disney + in the middle of January next year instead. This makes 2020 only the second year without any representation for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as the first time was in 2009 following the release of "Iron Man" and "The Incredible Hulk" the previous year and no return for the saga until the release of "Iron Man 2" in 2010.

While that certainly is a bummer for some, the wait won't be so long and we'll get our chance to see Wanda Maximoff and Vision's alternate reality warping TV series in a few months. This will also set up the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" - where Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda is expected to play a big role in the Benedict Cumberbatch sequel following her adventures with Paul Bettany's Vision.

WandaVision is scheduled to start streaming on Disney + on January 15, 2021.

PlayStation 5 will be "Online Only" for launch day

Those looking to migrate to the next generation of PlayStation this month may want to place their orders online if they haven't yet, as Sony has announced via their PlayStation Blog that PS5 launch day orders will be "online only" - meaning the system won't be available for pick up and purchase at stores and retailers when it launches on its respective dates across the world.

Taking the current global pandemic situation into account, Sony is discouraging fans and users from camping out or looking to line up for a PS5 unit when it launches. Those that have already pre-ordered at their respective retailers should be able to do so, but new customers will have to make their purchases online and confirm it from there.

The PlayStation 5 will launch on November 12 in major territories like the US and Japan, with other countries to follow on November 19.

We'll just have to wait and see what other updates may come on the horizon. Big thanks to Biohazard Declassified for sharing this over at their Facebook page! The RE Reboot is slated for release sometime in 2021!

Happy Halloween! Looks like the upcoming Resident Evil Reboot is looking straight from the source!

It's All Hallows Eve, and a lot of us are celebrating Trick or Treat and all things horror and spooky indoors this year thanks to the ongoing global pandemic restricting activities and gatherings. That however hasn't stopped work and production for some upcoming film projects (albeit with safety measures enforced of course), and one of these is the upcoming Resident Evil Reboot film, with Johannes Roberts set to direct and the likes of Robbie Amell and Hannah John-Kamen to star as Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, respectively!

Thanks to Biohazard Declassified in Facebook, we get a look at some set photos that have made their way to the interwebz that suggest that the filmmakers who are starting over with the RE film franchise are going to be faithful this time around with the source material - including building the Raccoon Police Department gate just like it was featured in the games! Plus, Kendo Gun Shop is also looking like it's straight from Resident Evil 2!

The Resident Evil Reboot is currently filming and will be released (hopefully) sometime in 2021.

Medicom Toys reveals MAFEX Azrael Batman and Ben Reilly Spider-Man , Arrives this 2021

For comic book fans who grew up reading DC and Marvel stories from the 90's, a dose of nostalgia and awesome collector booty is going to hit the market next year as Medicom Toys has revealed their next batch of MAFEX action figures based on comic book characters - and it's Azrael's Batman and Ben Reilly as Spider-Man! Thanks to the interwebz, we get our first look at their figures and their alternate unmasked heads and accessories!

Based on the well-known "Batman: Knightfall" storyline of the 90's where Bruce Wayne was forced to relinquish the mantle of the bat after being broken by Bane, Azrael was chosen as the new Batman to defend Gotham while Wayne left the city for another mission - not realizing how mentally unstable and brutal his successor was. To that end, Jean-Paul Valley constructed a new Batsuit that was big departure from his predecessor - to take on Bane and show Gotham City that a new and more savage Dark Knight was watching its citizens.

Spiralling out of the controversial "Clone Sage" of the 90's, Ben Reilly - a clone of Peter Parker and thought to be the original by both men at the time, was chosen by Peter to take over as Spider-Man while the latter left New York City to build a new life with Mary Jane and their unborn child. Retiring the mantle of the Scarlet Spider, Ben fashioned himself a new costume and took over webslinging duties as the new and improved Amazing Spider-Man!

Both MAFEX action figures are scheduled to be released on September 2021!

Surprise! Jared Leto returns as The Joker for "Zack Snyder's Justice League"

Looks like Jared Leto's stint as The Clown Prince of Crime himself The Joker hasn't ended at all and he gets the proverbial "Last Laugh", as The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop that the actor and musician has joined "Zack Snyder's Justice League" - filming scenes that will apparently tie-in with "Suicide Squad" and the DC Extended Universe as a whole. Leto's Joker never appeared in the 2017 team-up film, and only had what amounted to an "extended cameo" in 2016's Suicide Squad - where he played more of a secondary role to Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn and her back story (and he didn't reprise the role for this year's Birds of Prey either). Looks like that's going to be corrected with this new version of Justice League - which is Snyder's intended vision of the film and will include the big bad himself -Darkseid.

Not a bad way to get retribution, and continue the 80 years celebration of The Joker this year!

Zack Snyder's Justice League will be split into four parts and premiere sometime next year on HBO Max.

DC Comics reveals "Future State" Comic Event for 2021

Following the conclusion of Dark Nights Death Metal this January and initiating a pause in the mainline titles for a couple of months, DC Comics has announced "Future State" - a comic event that sees the DC Universe propelled to a unspecified point in the future where things are shuffled, a dystopian future has affected the lives of heroes, and new characters have taken up the mantles of some of the world's greatest heroes.

To name some of the few changes - Bruce Wayne will no longer be Batman and is presumed dead, with a new man behind the cape and cowl taking on the Magistrate in a Gotham City outlawing vigilantes. Jonathan Kent has taken up the role of Superman while his father is exiled in space. There are also a new Wonder Woman running around, and other legacy characters rise to take up the mantles of heroes who have come and gone.

You can read up more details about this Future State via Polygon. The initiative begins this January 2021, and will run until March that year.

Fans of DC's Green Lantern and its mythos are going to be pleased with the big news that arrived this weekend, as Variety reports that HBO's streaming service HBO Max has given literally give the green light to "Green Lantern" - with a 10-episode series order made for the emerald powered show.

Benedict Cumberbatch returns as Doctor Strange in Tom Holland's third Spider-Man film, MCU Phase 4 explores the Multiverse

Looks like the Impossibilities are indeed endless in the growing Marvel Cinematic Universe, as The Hollywood Reporter just released the scoop that Benedict Cumberbatch will return to play Doctor Strange in Tom Holland's next Spider-Man movie! The untitled sequel, which is reported to begin filming this month, will be a continuation of "Spider-Man: Far From Home" and see Holland back as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man - whose identity was publicly revealed by Mysterio at the mid-credits scene of that film.

Doctor Strange's inclusion in the new MCU Spider-Man film follows a trend that began with "Spider-Man: Homecoming" in 2017 - when Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark/ Iron Man served as a mentor figure to the young and inexperienced wall crawler superhero. That continued with 2019's Far From Home, with Nick Fury (or his Skrull proxy Talos) guiding Peter in his adventures in Europe and against the elementals of Mysterio. Now it's Stephen Strange's turn... And one has to wonder how the Multiverse fits in? With "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" also set for Phase 4, the interconnected nature of the Marvel Cinematic Universe expands even further, and now Jamie Foxx's recent casting as Electro - a role he played in 2014's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2", will now make sense in the grander scheme of things that opens up alternate realities and parallel worlds. We'll just have to wait and see how that plays, and whether Strange will do a "One More Day" to help Peter with his "secret identity not secret anymore" problem.

The Third Spider-Man film by Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios is slated for a December 2021 release date, but that could change given the pandemic situation still affecting the world.

Resident Evil Movie Reboot Announces Cast, Will Adapt the 1998 Video Games Storyline

Survival Horror fans and Resident Evil/ Biohazard mainstays like myself are seeing a flicker of hope with the latest news that just hit for the Resident Evil Movie Reboot project, as Deadline has a new report up announcing the cast and story details for the new do over film.

Once again handled by Constantin Film and now helmed by "47 Meters Down" director Johannes Roberts, the movie WILL ADAPT the 1998 Video Games storyline, with the report saying Constantin and Roberts "have conceived an official origin story adaptation with faithful ties to Capcom’s classic survival horror games". That means they are going to adapt the infamous "Mansion Incident" - which tell the events of the first Resident Evil/ Biohazard game and its Remake, as well as the "Raccoon City Outbreak" which was depicted in Resident Evil 2 and its remakes! This will definitely get fans excited and happy that this is FINALLY HAPPENING.

As shown in Deadline, cast in the roles are the following Kaya Scodelario (Maze Runner) as Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell (Upload) as Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy) as Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap) as Leon S. Kennedy, and Neal McDonough (Yellowstone) as William Birkin. It's definitely a powerful looking cast, and if they play the script and execution right - we may have a pretty good adaptation coming up. Franchise producer Robert Kulzer, who produced the Milla Jovovich Resident Evil films, had some pretty big exciting things to say that finally makes an RE fan's dreams come true.

“After a dozen games, six live-action movies and hundreds of pages of fan fiction, we felt compelled to return to the year 1998, to explore the secrets hidden in the walls of the Spenser Mansion and Raccoon City."

No release date has been given yet for the Resident Evil Reboot, but we can probably expect more news soon as the franchise celebrates its 25th Anniversary next year!
