ICYMI: The Death of Superman Special #1 Celebrates 30 Years Since DC Killed Off The Man of Steel

This fall, DC Comics will be honoring three decades of one of the shocking events to happen in the history of comics - "The Death of Superman".

In a blog post seen at their official website, DC Comics has announced that they are honoring that classic DC storyline with a double-sized special that will be released this coming November.

To celebrate the special anniversary of this genre-defining moment, DC has reunited the original creative teams of Dan Jurgens and Brett Breeding; Roger Stern and Butch Guice; Louise Simonson and Jon Bogdanove; and Jerry Ordway and Tom Grummett for The Death of Superman 30th Anniversary Special #1. Available at comic shops on November 8, The Death of Superman 30th Anniversary Special #1 features four all-new stories that explore the lasting impact that Clark’s death had on his family and friends as well as nine pinups and variant covers by some of the top names in comics.

Even after 30 years, the Man of Steel's heroic sacrifice battling and losing his life to Doomsday is still well remembered by fans and comic readers to this day. It will be interesting to see how this special and the stories collected in it will commemorate the occasion.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty Will Be Directed By Shang-Chi’s Destin Daniel Cretton

The future of The Multiverse Saga and the first Avengers film for “Phase 6” finally has a director tapped to it, as The Hollywood Reporter reports that “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” director Destin Daniel Cretton has been named the director of “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty”!

As Kevin Feige confirmed that “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame” directors Joe and Anthony Russo would not be returning to helm the new Avengers films announced for Phase 6, fans wondered who would be taking over and helming the two new crossover films that would bring together all the major players of the MCU once more. As the title implies, Kang  The Conqueror is going to be a major player and force to be reckoned with as The Multiverse Saga builds up, and that villain will be played by Jonathan Majors - who made his appearance as a variant called “He Who Remains” in Loki last year and is set to appear as Kang himself in 2023’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is set to be released on May 2025.

During their panel at the returning San Diego Comic-Con being held this week, DC Comics has pulled the curtain and revealed the real name and title to their current crossover event in "Dark Crisis" - and it's "Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths".

Now being a direct sequel to the 1985 crossover storyline that changed the DC Universe and introduced the likes of the Monitor, Anti-Monitor, and the returning character turned antagonist Pariah, Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths will continue the stories and threads that have lingered on since Infinite Crisis, Final Crisis, The New 52, Convergence, DC Rebirth, Dark Nights Metal, and Dark Nights: Death Metal. With the Multiverse restored and the Omniverse ever present now in the DCU, the Infinite Frontier era has brought forth new possibilities - as well as the Death of the Justice League that jumpstarted the initial "Dark Crisis" storyline last May and is now leading to a new crisis where the world's greatest heroes are "dead", the villains are rising, and new champions will need to rise in order to combat the threats to the universe.

The newly renamed Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths will also have three new one-shots - The Deadly Green Dark Army, and War Zone. The Justice League will also return with issue #5 of the main Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths series on October. You can read all the details over at Newsarama.
