David Morrissey is "The Governor" in The Walking Dead TV Series

AMC has announced that British actor/ director David Morrissey has been cast as the popular villainous character "The Govenor" for their upcoming third season of their popular zombie drama TV series, The Walking Dead.

Those who have followed the original comic book series helmed by Robert Kirkman knows that The Governor is a fan favorite character, and has served as the ultimate definition of a crafty, unrelenting, and insane villain who has terrorized and given Rick Grimes and his fellow survivors a hell of a hard time. One has to wonder how things will play out in the TV Series, which has taking liberties at deviating from the source material, but has gained a strong cult following nonetheless. It will be interesting to see how things roll down as Season 2 prepares to wrap up. So far, I'm enjoying the ride, and zombies are the least of Rick and crew's worries in the long run. For more info, visit the source post at Deadline and Comic Book Movie.

Expect to see David Morrissey take up the mantle of The Governor when The Walking Dead returns for its third season later this year.

Mark Millar may go to the Philippines for Supercrooks #1 signing

It's breaking news for Mark Millar fans, especially those looking forward to a visit from the man behind The Ultimates and KickAss in their own respective countries.

Via his own website Millarworld and a news scoop in Bleeding Cool, the Scottish born comic book writer has set up a competition wherein he will travel to any location in the world for a signing of his upcoming new book Supercrooks #1... Provided that store orders the most copies of said comic book. Stores in Ireland and New York City are up in the lead for Millar himself to pay a visit. However, the big cheese and top qualifier to get the man himself is a store located right here at home... The Philippines!

That's right, Mark Millar may make the trip to Manila, and things are holding up so far for Filipino fan hopefuls who are looking forward to his potential visit. Bleeding Cool even used an image of just how the comic book store scene looks in the RP above... with a certain fellow blogger friend I know who's actually in the image! Street Fighter X Tekken: PS Vita version to feature 12 more characters

Street Fighter x Tekken comes out in a few weeks time for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, and the Capcom devloped brawler is generating a lot of buzz from its respective fans to show that it's a highly anticipated title nobody can wait for! Still, while those looking forward to the console releases will get it early, their stomachs may churn over the latest news to come out related to the game... And it's looking good right now for those investing on Sony's newest handheld, the Playstation Vita.

Via a report from Andriasang.com, the Vita version of SFxT will be getting a big bonus to compensate for its delayed release to Fall 2012. Twelve new characters will be added to the roster, with six entries on each side, and fans who have been loyal to both franchises will be happy to know who's making the cut.

Street Fighter:
- Elena
- Guy
- Cody
- Sakura
- Dudley
- Blanka

Tekken:
- Lars
- Alisa
- Christie
- Jack
- Bryan
- Lei

This kinda puts a damper on those getting the game early for the big machines, but it's a good bet Capcom will eventually release the Vita exclusive fighters someday, as either DLC or an "upgraded" version of SFxT in the future. Time will tell for sure. For now, take comfort in seeing the new "Features trailer" for the upcoming console version of the game.

WONDER WOMEN! The Untold Story of American Superheroines Trailer

Almost everybody knows their superheroes, and majority of us are mostly familiar with the male characters that continue to entertain and dominate the pages of comic books with their powers and abilities. However, we must not forget that there are female counterparts as well, and they have equally displayed amazing feats and talents that have saved the world countless times over in their adventures. That being said, an upcoming documentary premiering in SXSW aims to showcase these heroines, and how their image continues to grow and inspire many across the globe. "WONDER WOMEN! THE UNTOLD STORY OF AMERICAN SUPERHEROINES traces the fascinating evolution and legacy of Wonder Woman. From the birth of the comic book superheroine in the 1940s to the blockbusters of today, WONDER WOMEN! looks at how popular representations of powerful women often reflect society’s anxieties about women’s liberation. WONDER WOMEN! goes behind the scenes with Lynda Carter, Lindsay Wagner, comic writers and artists, and real life superheroines such as Gloria Steinem, Shelby Knox and others who offer an enlightening and entertaining counterpoint to the male dominated superhero genre."

As part of their "Mark of the Spider-Man" viral marketing campaign to promote their upcoming summer superhero flick, Marvel and Sony Pictures have released the very first official clip to Marc Webb's Spider-Man movie reboot "The Amazing Spider-Man", featuring the main star himself Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, in a scene where he meets his biggest challenge yet. Nicholas Cage talks about Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

Now riding in theaters to mixed reviews that will surely put fans on the fence, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance brings veteran actor Nicholas Cage back in the role he first starred in 2007, albeit a lot more darker and sinister than before. I've seen the film and reviewed it (featured in Geekmatic as well), and my opinion will be something that leaves a lot to be desired for the most part if you haven't seen the film yet. Still, there may be hope yet if you're a Nic Cage fan. Via a video interview with Total Film, he gives his take on the character, describing the Ghost Rider as a "philosophical hero" and letting on his background that he is a bog comic book fan himself.

Well, Nicholas Cage has spoken, and it's up to you whether or not you want to see The Rider on theaters. For more insight, visit the source post at Total Film and Comic Book Movie. Open since the February 17th, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance is now in theaters.

TTT2 gets updated to Tekken Unlimited Tag Tournament 2

In a move that's sure to get Tekken fans burning up with excitement, Tekken Producer Katsuhiro Harada has tweeted and unveiled photos from the Japan AOU Amusement Show 2012 of the newest upgrade to the current Tekken game "Tekken Tag Tournmanent 2". Billed as "Tekken Unlimited Tag Tournament 2", the changes to the engine are just more than simply addressing balancing issues and tweaking the game aesthetically.

TUTT2 adds the option of playing TAG or SOLO, meaning you can take the brawl either way you like, through teamwork, old fashioned 1-on-1 beat 'em up, or a SOLO player going up against a TAG player, making the fight 1 Vs 2! With the current build of Tag 2 still making waves in arcades, and Street Fighter X Tekken seeing release in consoles next month, this is sure to please fans around the world once it hits, and justifies the delays for the console version!

R.I.P John Severin

Sad news has hit the comic book and magazine world, as legendary artist and inker John Severin passed away last February 12, leaving a lot of fans and fellow creators mourning over the loss of a legend. Profoundly known for his works in the 50's with EC Comics, working with Western ComicsDC Comics, and Marvel Comics, as well as Cracked and being one of the founders of MAD, Severin's signature artistic style was known to many, and he passionately drew a lot of memorable works and visuals that are still remembered by many to this day. His work on the Rawhide Kid, Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos, The Incredible Hulk, and The Punisher are among some of his notable accomplishments, and he also made an impression for 45 years as an artist for Cracked, with humurous results to boot that entertained readers the world over. Here are samples of his works over the years via Comic Book Resources, and kind words were expressed in his memory by Marvel.

Truly , another icon in the popculture world has left us, and his contributions to the industry will forever be remembered by creators and fans alike. R.I.P John Severin, and thank you.

Remembering the "Every Woman": R.I.P Whitney Houston

It saddened me when I heard the unfortunate news that Whitney Houston, one of R&B, Soul, and music's finest talents and legends, had passed away. Her exceptional and beautiful voice was her distinguish trait, and it made her one of the most iconic pop and dance singers of all time. Her time with Bobby Brown literally brought her image down, and she tried to rebound from her past drug problems by separating from her estranged ex-husband and restarting her career. Now, at the eve of the 2012 Grammy Music Awards, a sad shadow has been cast on the night meant for celebrating the music industry, as it has lost one of its remarkable gems for a point in its history.

Surely everyone born and fortunate to experience he fabulous voice has their favorite Whitney Houston song, and I don't blame them if they have multiple ones like I do. From experiencing the peak of her career in music in the 90's, I'll always remember Whitney for the song "I'll Always Love You", which was part of the official soundtrack of The Bodyguard, a film she co-starred in with Kevin Costner. It's probably fitting to play now in a time the world loses one of it's greatest and most gifted individuals.

Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You

And like the namesake of this article, another favorite of mine was Whitney's rendition of the Chaka Khan classic "I'm Every Woman", which was also featured in the line up of "The Bodyguard" OST"

Whitney Houston- I'm Every Woman

Whether it uplifted you, made you happy or sad, Whitney Houston was a truly remarkable woman. I  truly hope she is in a better place, and lending her voice to the heavens with the same resounding magnitude it had in life. Rest in peace Whitney, and thank you for being
