New Line Cinema will reboot the Mortal Kombat film franchise

In the words of Raiden and Shang Tsung from the first Mortal Kombat movie of 1995: "IT HAS BEGUN!"

Looks like New Line Cinema is going ahead and rebooting the Mortal Kombat, bringing on Oren Uziel and Kevin Tancharoen as writer and director respectively. These men are the same guys responsible for bringing the highly successful web short "Mortal Kombat Rebirth" to the internet, and for those who don't know what that's about, it was an eight-minute feature released in June 2010 that reintroduced the premise of MK using a realistic and modern setting, featuring the likes of Michael Jai White as Jax, Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade, and Ian Anthony Dale as Scorpion. For those who haven't seen it, here's the feature itself below, just to give you a taste of what the new MK film might be like when it gets done.

Mortal Kombat Rebirth

With its success, Rebirth eventually spawned a 10 episode web series entitled "Mortal Kombat Legacy", which began airing last April, which was the same month that the new Mortal Kombat game by NetherWorld Studios and Warner Bros Interactive was released. Now, it looks like things paid off for Uziel and Tancharoen, as they've been given the green light to do a new movie that will reboot the franchise anew.

This means goodbye to the timeline set forth by Paul W.S. Anderson's Mortal Kombat movie of 1995, and while that is arguably still the best video game movie ever, I can't say the same for its sequel, Mortal Kombat Annihilation, which lived up to its tagline and "completely destroyed all expectations" by being a very bad film. For more news on the MK film reboot, visit the source posts at Slash Film, Deadline, and The Hollywood Reporter.

The new Mortal Kombat hasn't had a release date projected yet, but check back for updates as they come!

The Walking Dead Season 2 Update: New trailer shows off more tense moments

In preparation for the few weeks left until the show officially debuts, AMC has released a new trailer to the second season of their groundbreaking zombie TV show based on Robert Kirkman's comic book series, The Walking Dead. Anyone who's seen the San Diego Comic Con '11 trailer will pretty much see a redux of what went down there, but this new 1 and a half minute clip features some new scenes spliced in, focusing on the division and conflicting opinions within the group led by Rick Grimes. Check it out below to get a taste of what's to come in a few Sundays away.

DC The New 52: Last few teasers for the last New 52 #1 books!

The books should be out in shops by now, but in case you didn't get 'em yet, DC Comics has provided some more teasers for the hungry fans to salivate on.

"You could do so much good! WE could do so much good!" - Lois Lane

The picture and words speak for themselves. Lois Lane gives her thoughts on Superman, and the potential his heroic presence could bring to mankind. The all-new Superman #1 debuts this week, and the real adventures of Clark Kent's alter ego begins here.

"I thought I’d left that world behind me. That maybe I could do more good working from the shadows. Apparently, I was wrong. I’m going to need help.” – Red Robin

Tim Drake, aka the third Robin and now Red Robin, jumps into the team spotlight once more and rejoins his compatriots in the new Teen Titans #1. I don't know what I can say about the costume designs for the New 52 version of the group, but here's hoping the story keeps fans happy anyway.

“If you’re not moving, you’re not living.” – Barry Allen

Barry Allen speeds up to a fresh new start in the all new The Flash #1. I'm a Wally West fan by heart, but I hope this reinvigorates and brings the Flash legacy to a whole new direction that fans will appreciate in the long run.

All these books are out now this week, so grab your copies while you can! For more info, check out the source post at DC's official blog The Source!

DC The New 52 Teasers: The Final Week of #1 teasers step in

As the final week of September rolls in, so will the final wave of DC Comics' New 52 #1 launch titles. Among the bunch will be Batman: The Dark Knight # 1, Aquaman #1, The Flash #1, and Superman #1, so there's still a lot of books readers new and old will be gunning for. In fact, over at their official blog site The Source, DC has posted up some new teaser images and quotes to give hungry fans a taste of things to come for the final week. Here are some of them:

"You are the parent of your own fear." - Bruce Wayne

There you go. The David Finch penned and drawn teaser to Batman: The Dark Knight #1. Looks good visually so far, but I want to see how it does story-wise. The last one was plagued with delays, and Finch wasn't even able to draw the last issue even! Here's hoping it does well. It looks really good in the art department.

"How's it feel to be nobody's favorite Superhero?" - Unnamed Blogger

I don't know if that holds true for majority of the DC fanbase. Aquaman may not be one of the best cash cow heroes of the DC universe, but he's certainly a recognizable figure, and he had quite the run back in the day with Peter David at the writing helm. Now, Green Lantern and The Flash Rebirth scribe Geoff Johns is going to do his thing and take Arthur in a new and serious direction when his new #1 issue hits this week, and I'm sure people will be talking, especially with these stellar visuals presented by Blackest Night and GL penciller Ivan Reis. A lot of ridicule and jokes can be thrown to Arthur Curry, but there's no denying that he's one of the best creations DC has chugged up in their heroic repertoire. I'm looking forward to good things with Aquaman #1.

The last wave of DC The New 52 books hit this week. For more info and stories, visit the source post at DC The Source!

Game of Thrones Season 2 Teaser hits the web

Over at their official YouTube page and via Comic Book Movie, HBO has posted up a teaser video for next year's second season of the highly acclaimed medieval fantasy series, Game of Thrones! Based on best selling "A Song of Ice and Fire" series by renowned writer George R.R Martin, GoT delivered an excellent first season that illustrated the Seven Kingdoms of the fictional world of Westeros and the diverse characters  and figures that reside in it. Battles are fought and wars are waged as noble families vie for control of the Iron Throne, and a greater threat looms over the North, as dark forces slowly rise to bring chaos and death to the land of the living.

Game of Thrones Season 2 Teaser

"The night is dark and full of terrors" indeed...

Truly a breathtaking series, I'm certainly looking forward to next year and the fates of the characters who still have parts to play in the story, particularly the bastard son of Ned Stark, Jon Snow, and the imp himself, Tyrion Lannister! For more info, visit the source post at CBM!

The Second Season of Game of Thrones is set to debut sometime next year.

The Dark Knight Rises Update: Anne Hathaway's full Catwoman costume spotted!

The Internet never sleeps, and apparently neither does anything related to Batman and his gorgeous feline adversary and on-and-off love interest, Catwoman! With big discussions about the two costumed individuals already heating up after what transpired at the end of this week's Catwoman #1 (Puurrrfffeecct is the word), it's going to get more wild now thanks to some spy shots straight from the set of Christopher Nolan's next Batman flick, The Dark Knight Rises, which reveal Anne Hathaway's supposedly full look in the Catwoman costume... complete with cat ears!

Hmmm, personally I'm a both relieved and disappointed by this look. I'm relieved by the fact that it's acceptable... But I'm disappointed that they didn't go for the "Goggles n' Mask" combination that many fans have known and accepted in recent years. Anne Hathaway sports a longer hairdo as Selina Kyle in Nolan's universe, while the comics have seen her keeping it short and sexy. I'm reserving judgement for now, and I'm going to place this as "safe" since I trust Nolan and I wanna see where he takes this. For more info and pics on the story (plus both Anne Hathaway and Christian Bale together on the set and in costume), visit the source post at Just JaredComic Book Movie and Batman-News!

The Dark Knight Rises premieres on theaters on July 20, 2012!

Batman Arkham City Joker Trailer

In the few weeks left and counting down to its release, Warner Bros. Interactive and Rocksteady Studios have released a new trailer to their upcoming new Batman game, "Batman Arkham City", spotlighting none other than the Clown Prince of Crime himself, The Joker! Last time we saw him 2009's Batman Arkham Asylum, The Dark Knight beat his greatest enemy down, and due to ingesting large amounts of the plant-venom hybrid drug Titan, Mr. J has now become a sickly and wounded shadow of his former self... Or has he? Check the trailer just to see whether he's sidelined and being taken care of Harley Quinn... or is he holding something under his sleeve that's even more dangerous than all the other thugs in Arkham City combined?

Batman: Year One Update: First Clip surfaces online

Coming Soon has received the first clip to the upcoming new DC Universe Animated Original Movie, Batman: Year One. Based on the classic graphic novel of the same name written by Frank Miller and illustrated by David Mazzucchelli, the direct-to-video animated release will arrive in Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital Copy, depict the early year's of Gotham City's Dark Knight as he arrives to fight injustice and rid the streets of crime and corruption. This clip below shows Bruce Wayne's alter ego, as he delivers a stern message to Carmine Falcone and his guests of the criminal underworld while they're having dinner at the former's home.

Pretty impressive for a clip, and I can't wait to see this next month. For more information, visit the source post at Coming Soon.

Batman: Year One sees a direct-to-video release on October 18 from Warner Home Video!

College Humor spoofs The Dark Knight again with "Batman Interrogation"

I enjoy College Humor videos. They portray the comedy well and know how to satire the most fundamentally known genres in the popculture spectrum, and Batman is no exception to the rule either.
They had their first whack at The Dark Knight's world by spoofing the rooftop disappearing act Bat's is known for in "Batman: Vanishing", and now they take things a step further by interpreting the infamous "Interrogation Scene" from "The Dark Knight"... Only this time it goes horribly wrong and awkward with a case of mistaken identity, where the Caped Crusader picks on a regular clown, lol!

College Humor: Batman Interrogation

I just love how they got the actors from Vanishing back, and the guy playing Batman hits the "Bale Bat voice" spot on.XD For more, visit College Humor's official site, and for extras, here's their "Batman Vanishing" Spoof for your "Harvey Dent" laughs!

Movie Reviews: Fright Night, Contagion, and Horrible Bosses

I've seen a couple of movies this month, and I came out of each and every one them completely bewildered and satisfied thanks to the entertainment value, direction, and star power each one presented in their own right. I try to keep an open mind whenever I step into any type films, and regardless of what initial reviews featured on print media or the internet have to say, I'll still have to give my own two cents worth on the subject eventually when all is said and done. Right now, I have a couple under my belt that I've been itching to talk about, and while I may keep the reviews as brief and short as possible, I'll try to stick to the point and piece out what makes each one good in their own right.

Special thanks again goes to Warner Bros. Philippines for the screenings this month!

Peter Dinklage wins Emmy Award for his role in Game of Thrones!

This is great news indeed for fans of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series.

Peter Dinklage, who plays fan favorite character Tyrion Lannister in the HBO TV Series adaptation of Game of Thrones, takes home a well deserve prize and won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series! Via The Hollywood Reporter, he gives his reaction to the win, and aptly remarks that "I've learned to love being in a TV show" as a result. You can read the entire story here via this link to THR's post.

Since the series premiered early this year and his name appeared on the list of Emmy nominations, I firmly believed that he would definitely win the coveted prize, since his role as the dwarfish Tyrion proved to be such brilliant casting. Dinklage portrayed the role with clarity and craftiness, and he displayed the imp's talents so well in the series that it isn't any wonder how people favored the character immediately in his first appearance.

DC The New 52 Teasers: Nightwing and Red Hood and the Outlaws

With all that's been happening in the new DC Universe and how people have been reacting to first half of  "The New 52", it's pretty safe to say that DC Comics has had a successful reboot so far in terms of numbers and attracting a new audience into the comic book world. However, the lines are divided and mixed when it comes to the issue of continuity, and while majority of the books are rebooting most of their history, some are thankfully intact. Case in point, the Green Lantern and Batman universes have carried over their histories, and while the latter series has Barbara Gordon back in the cape and cowl as Batgirl, her time being paralyzed as a result of the Joker's attack in Batman: The Killing Joke and becoming Oracle still happened despite getting her mobility back in the DCnU.

With that said, we come over to the two other books that faithful Batreaders are surely going to keep their eye on: Nightwing and Red Hood and the Outsiders. For one thing, I have mixed feelings in regards to Dick Grayson returning to the role he's best known for. I enjoyed his stint as Batman, and while I'm not particularly sad about him downgrading back to Nightwing, I can't say I'm too inclined with the new costume design. I miss the simple blue and black jumpsuit he sported prior to inheriting the mantle of the Bat, and this one just screams "forcing a mixture of the old and the new". Take a look at the spread provided by DC's blog The Source, as well as the teaser line below.

"Just when I've set up a new life, my old one comes back. Well played, Gotham." - Dick Grayson/ Nightwing

Can't say I blame Dick for saying that. Nightwing #1 hits shelves next week.

The only reason I'm here is 'cause is if anything happens to you-that would make me the worst former sidekick ever." - Jason Todd/ The Red Hood"

Ah Jason Todd, aka Robin II and now The Red Hood. He died at the hands of the Joker in the 80's, and then was miraculously resurrected thanks to Superboy Prime's "Magic Punch" that sent ripples in time and caused changes in the old DCU's history. Well, he's still alive and kicking in the DCnU, and he's going to team up with a young Roy Harper/ Red Arrow and Starfire to form "Red Hood and the Outlaws". I'm not sure if I'm going to follow this book, but I can't argue about the team dynamic getting me curious either. Watch out for this one next week as well.

The Walking Dead gets Gregory Nicotero and six webisodes this October

Fans of The Walking Dead who are anticipating the premiere of the Second season in the middle of next month will be delighted to know that there's more in store for them than just that!

Via Enewsi, word has come officially from AMC that Emmy Award-winning legendary make-up effects artist Gregory Nicotero has been named as a Co-Executive Producer for The Walking Dead series, and in addition to providing the stellar make-up for the undead series, he has also worked in other zombie films in the past, specifically starting his career on George Romero's Day of the Dead (in which he also acted in as one of the soldiers, Private Johnson) and later on helping in several other films like Evil Dead II, Creepshow 2, From Dusk Til Dawn, and Diary of the Dead. Learning under Tom Savini, another legendary make-up artist and zombie movie veteran, Nicotero co-owns KNB EFX Group, a highly popular and well known special effects studio he formed alongside Robert Kurtzman and Howard Berger,  which went on to work on over 400 films and TV projects.

With that under his resume, it's safe to say that AMC has found a more than worthy co-executive producer in Nicotero to steer the second season`of The Walking Dead after legendary director Frank Darabont's sudden departure, and that's not all the good news that's there either. Beginning October 3rd, amctv.com will premiere a six episode web-series that will be produced by Generate and was conceived by Nicotero and written by writer John Esposito. The webisodes will focus on the back story of "Bicycle Girl", aka one of the first zombies Rick Grimes encounters and shoots later on in the first season of The Walking Dead. The online exclusive series will show the tragic tale of how one woman struggles to survive and protect her own family as the zombie apocalypse descends on the world. Be sure to catch this all on amctv.com come October 3rd. For more info, visit amctv.com or the source post at Enewsi!

The Walking Dead season 2 premieres on October 16th!

Tokyo Game Show '11: Sony reveals Playstation Vita release date and news

After giving a Press Conference presentation yesterday in anticipation for this week's Tokyo Game Show, Sony has laid out new details for their upcoming new portable console and successor to their tried and true Playstation Portable, The Playstation Vita. What was formerly known as the NGP or "Next Generation Portable", has now been given the Holiday Season release date of December 17.

Details about the console have been spread out all over in articles posted in Kotaku after the Press Con, and while the specs have been outlined and featured in Wikipedia, what we do know is that there'll be two versions consumers can pick up in the market upon release; one with Wifi and the other supporting 3G. Pricing of course differs as a result, and while it has yet to get an official release date and price in the west, it stacks up to about $249 for Wifi only and $299 for 3G. Not bad, but still pricey nonetheless. There'll also be different peripherals and various memory cards sold for the device, as well as multiple colored PS Vitas for everyone to choose from, raging from Sky Blue, to Red, and even Gold! Heck, we even a glimpse at how the PS Vita box is going to look like. With HD rereleases of classic game franchises like Metal Gear Solid, Zone of the Enders, and Final Fantasy X confirmed, plus ports of Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 and Street Fighter X Tekken, Sony has a lot of people watching and waiting for this baby to come out. There'll be be more announcements for sure since we have a few months left until the Japan release, so stay tuned for more news to be reported as they come.

IGN has uploaded a video in YouTube that pretty much shows what fans can expect of the new portable device's interface once it goes on sale in December. Do check it out and see for yourselves how the touch screen works and what's in store for those who are anxious to get their hands on this little but powerful portable console.

Once again, the PS Vita will be released in Japan first this December 17. Look forward to US and European release date announcements very soon!

Capcom breaks things down with new Street Fighter X Tekken trailers!

It's Tokyo Game Show week, and just when you think that Capcom has revealed enough for their upcoming crossover brawler with Namco Bandai, Street Fighter X Tekken, both companies beg to differ and spice things up with some juicy new trailers!

SF X Tekken Pandora Trailer

The newest updates to hit this week features not only the announcement of new characters (namely Heihachi, Lili, Rufus, and Rolento), but also a new and important trailer that spotlights new gameplay features for the game, specifically Pandora (a sort of "sacrifice your teammate for more power" desperation move), Briefing (sparring mode with an online opponent), and Scramble (a mode that allows four players to go at it all at once!)! Check out the trailer above, which offers insight into the crossover's storyline as well!

SF X Tekken TGS 2011 Trailer

This hilarious trailer shows just how big a doofus Rufus can be when he mistakes Tekken's Bob for a certain Shoryuken fighter, lol!

SF X Tekken Comic-Con 2011 Trailer

This is an oldie from the Comic-Con a few months back, but it's worth showing this cinematic trailer, which pits one famous tag team duo against another!

Street Fighter X Tekken arrives for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Playstation Vita on March 2, 2012!

Marvel reveals "Avengers: X-Sanction", aka "Cable: Reborn"

Those wondering what Marvel was teasing earlier this week when they posted an Avengers logo poster with an "X shaped" crosshair dead on its sights have finally gotten their answer.

Yes, that's who you think it is. As speculated a few months ago, Cable is making a comeback from the dead, and he's going to be taking on... The Avengers?!

Via their live blog featured at Marvel.com and a post at Bleeding Cool, the House of Ideas has formally announced "Avengers: X-Sanction" - a four part miniseries by Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness that will show just how the X-Man from the future managed to survive his death and sacrifice at the end of epic X-Men storyline, X-Men: Second Coming. The project was initially called "Cable: Reborn", but now that Marvel has incorporated Earth's Mightiest Heroes into the equation, there's  big mystery as to why Nathan Christopher Summers is coming back in an Avengers themed storyline and not alongside his fellow mutants. Of course, this doesn't mean that none of the X-Men will be unaware here. There's Cyclops, his father, and Hope, Cable's adoptive daughter, will surely be delighted to know her dad's alive and well... But how did he survive? Also, with the fallout of X-Men: Schism about to take effect, how will Cable react to it and which side will he choose? All these questions piling up, and we can only speculate from this point. For more info and details, visit the source posts at Bleeding Cool and Marvel.com!

Avengers: X-Sanction is slated to begin this December!

Cover to Justice League #4 revealed - Aquaman is a badass

While presenting the numbers and news that Justice League #1 is the best selling comic of the month and, currently, 2011, DC Comics' official blog The Source also presented that post with the cover to issue #4 by Jim Lee, depicting a very serious looking Aquaman as he stands behind the waves, victorious and on top of the battered and beaten bodies of Batman and Green Lantern! It looks like The Dark Knight and Emerald Warrior are going to have their hands full meeting and fighting their eventual teammates, and Aquaman doesn't look like he's screwing around either! For more info on this and the good news for the New 52, check out the source post at DC The Source!

Remembering 9/11 and The Amazing Spider-Man #36... 10 years later

9/11. The date alone evokes a lot of unpleasant and sad memories. It also makes me remember a certain issue of The Amazing Spider-Man that I have, which served as a remembrance of that day that will be forever remembered as one of the worst attacks by terrorism.

Yes, the simple black cover to this issue said it all. Originally released on December 2001, The Amazing Spider-Man #36 was one of the rare instances a comic book deviated from its ongoing storyline and focused on a situation/ event that was as real as it was going to get. Written by J. Michael Straczynski and illustrated by John Romita Jr., the books serves as a medium for the writer and artist to voice out their feelings regarding what transpired that day, showing Spider-Man wracked with shock and grief like many others, as he looks over and searches for survivors over the remains of what was once the World Trade Center.

The message sent here was simple and clear -  it was a tragedy nobody could ever forget. The damage, fear, and chaos that was a result of those attacks still haunt many who experienced it first hand to this day, and those of us around the world who watched helplessly over various mediums could only feel pain, remorse, and anger over what transpired. My own memories of watching the horrible events unfold in CNN were as clear as yesterday, and even though 10 years have passed, we still remember and honor the memories of those who died and gave their lives bravely to help those in need that day.

Straczynski and Romita Jr. presented one of the most heartfelt tales that reflected the obvious shock people had over this event, as well as the overwhelming guilt and responsibility fictional heroes like Spider-Man felt over a terrible crisis like this. As someone who has fought for the safety of others, the webslinger is grounded and helpless to do anything even with all of his powers at his disposal. Arriving at Ground Zero after the dust clears, he valiantly looks for signs of life, joining his fellow superheroes to work with other rescuers and emergency units in finding as many survivors as they can. It was a heartfelt message of remembrance and heroism at a time when America truly needed those heroes. Even though it's been almost 10 years since this issue hit newsstands, it still resonates with me as one of the clearest and honest reactions to 9/11. We will never forget.

DC The New 52: The Superman "GD" Controversy

Honestly, I don't see what the fuss is about either with this one, but it's definitely making the rounds, and it happened "faster than a speeding bullet" as soon as the issue hit stands this week.

In the newly relaunched Action Comics #1 penned by Grant Morrison and illustrated by Rags Morales, Superman utters the words "GD" when he takes a hit from a tank missile. That was enough to send a retailer over at North Carolina, The Comic Conspiracy, on a campaign to boycott the issue, pulling it from his store. The story and reason behind this were reported in site Bleeding Cool, and here's the accompanying pic from the article.

For those who want to know the score, "GD" is a spelling of "God"that some Jews use (actually spelled "G-d"). This is where the controversy stems from, and some mixed reactions as of the story have come to light because of it. The NC retailer later on issued a formal apology to Morrison for his angry reactions to the Scottish writer which ran in this story in BC, and the retailer finally got his answer from the writer himself, explaining the meaning behind the word. As how most people (myself included) know and have come to accept after reading the issue, the caption was supposed to emphasize a "grunt" like "UUMPH" or "DHH". DC's official blog The Source also published the story along with Morrison's answer to the supposed controversy. It looked like things could be put to rest from that point forward, but something new related to "GD" popped up just recently, courtesy of writer Mark Waid and his Twitter.

From an old Superman story in 1964. I guess the speculation and meaning behind the word will continue.

DC The New 52: More awesome teasers to show for the DCnU!

DC Comics has updated their blog The Source and posted some rather interesting teasers for more of the upcoming "New 52" books that will be released in the coming weeks ahead. I've reviewed some of the initial new books that are already in shelves (or sold out), primarily Justice League #1, Action Comics #1, and Detective Comics #1, and as of the moment I'm pretty satisfied with what I see. In the meantime, here's a couple of new things to look forward to come next week and beyond:

"You're not my partner. You're my son" - Bruce Wayne

Awww... Bruce Wayne having a "tender moment" with his son Damian Wayne while they're off in patrol as Batman and Robin. The new series kicks off next week with Batman and Robin #1, which goes on sale on the 14th.

"Hee... That's so cute. You think you're scary. But muster, I've seen scary. And you ain't got his smile" - Harley Quinn

An obvious reference to The Joker right there. Still, I'm not favoring this new, slutty like "Typhoid Mary" look Harley Quinn has got for her as a member of the new DCnU's iteration of the Suicide Sqaud. Evidently it also takes inspiration from her recent costume change in the Batman Arkham Asylum/ Arkham City video games, but I miss my Animated Series look too much. Whether or not you look forward to this adventure, Suicide Squad #1 comes out on September 14 as well.

There you have it. The variant cover to Action Comics #2, which goes on sale next month. It brings a whole new meaning to "strange visitor from another planet" when I look at this piece by Ethan Van Schiver. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore what I just read with Action Comics #1 by Grant Morrison and Rags Morales, but this isn't working for me as heroic posing at all.

Comic Book Review: Action Comics #1 and Detective Comics #1

Headlining the first official week of "New 52" releases this September, the newest volumes of Action Comics and Detective Comics, the two main books of DC Comics, have done more than just hype up the fact that the DC relaunch is at hand. They've been generating favorable reviews... And they're selling out fast in comic book stores everywhere as of this post! With the overwhelming buzz surrounding both issues and other new #1 DC books like Batgirl and last week's Justice League, it can be fair to assume that the publisher's gamble at relaunching all of their titles is quickly paying off by spears and numbers. While I'm still deliberating over what other books I'll be picking up in the next few weeks, there was no question in my mind that Action Comics #1 and Detective Comics #1 were definitely required in my pull list. Now, here are my thoughts on both of 'em, and if you're hoping to keep yourself from SPOILERS, best turn away now.

Nike will release Back To The Future Shoes... For Real!

Great Scott! It looks like we're getting the real thing a few years ahead of 2015!

Teased initially by producer Frank Marshall in Twitter and through a story in Slash Film, Nike has now confirmed that the fictional "Air Mags" self-lacing shoes worn by Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) in Back To The Future II are going to deploy in stores worldwide soon. It was patented last year by the brand, and now those who ever dreamed of wearing "the shoes of the future" can now do so very soon! If you need a refresher on how those shoes looked liked in BTTF II, here's a clip video for the curious:

DC The New 52 Preview: Detective Comics #1

With the new wave of "New 52" #1 issues by DC Comics coming this week, USA Today and Bleeding Cool have provided fans with a 6 page preview of the all-new Detective Comics #1, written and illustrated by regular Batman writer and artist Tony S. Daniel! As the flagship title of the publication, this is the first time in DC Comics' history that Batman will headline the first issue of a relaunched Detective Comics title, since the character originally appeared in 1939's Detective Comics #27!

In this series, Daniel will emphasize Batman's detective skills. As the title implies, it's all about investigation and detecting, traits that make Batman the best at what he does. Besides concentrating on his early adventures, the Dark Knight will go toe-to-toe with not just his legendary arch-nemesis The Joker, but a new villain created by the writer/ artist for the series - the mysterious Dollmaker.

Go to USA Today and/ or Bleeding Cool now to check out this preview and get more info!

DC The New 52: Batman #1 gets a new cover

From a scoop posted at Bleeding Cool, it looks as if some last minute printing changes have graced one of the upcoming new books from "The New 52" relaunch initiative of DC Comics, and it happens to one of their main titles - Batman #1. Handled by the creative team of writer Scott Snyder (Detective Comics) and Greg Capullo, the new 1st issue of the 2nd Volume of Batman now has this cover for its regular printing, scheduled for a September 21 release, has this new cover:

Originally, this was the intended cover attached to the issue (one that I still prefer in my personal opinion):

Yes, the cover was tweaked to add more villains rushing in at The Dark Knight, but it just doesn't convey the same "Epic message" of power and prominence a first issue should have like the latter cover right here. For more information, visit the source post at Bleeding Cool and solicitations at DC Comics.com.

Batman #1 will be released at a comic shop near you this September 21st!
