Castlevania Season 2: Bloody Tears were literally shed for this Netflix masterpiece

It's been almost two weeks since Netflix and producer Adi Shankar unleashed the second season of their animated series adaptation of "Castlevania" - the beloved action adventure series that sees players take on the role of Vampire Hunters traversing through Dracula's namesake castle and facing the Lord of Darkness himself. This show is nothing short of PERFECTION - premiering on July 2017 on the streaming service with four episodes - before eventually getting an expanded eight episode run this year with the sophomore season.

Castlevania: Season 2 | Official Trailer

Developed originally as a film beginning as early as 2007, Castlevania lingered on in developmental hell until 2015 - when it was resurrected and eventually began new life as a planned animated adult television series. Warren Ellis served as the writer of the series - adapting concepts and themes largely based from Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, but telling a wholly original story the fleshed out the adventures of Treveor Belmont, Sypha, Alucard, and of course Dracula and his army. The first season served as a slow introduction that built up the plot and narrative of Dracula's mission of vengeance after his wife Lisa is burned in the stake - which eventually sets up his inevitable confrontation with the Vampire Hunters and his estranged son - who honors his mother's wish to leave humanity unharmed by her husband's fury. Season 2 successfully expands the story and tuned up the band - introducing new characters and story arcs while maintaining the main plot - with Episode 7 serving as the "main course" that fans of the series have waited for. You just have to see it to believe it.

With Season 2 currently streaming and offering some good ol' Vampire Killer goodness to fans, Castlevania has proven itself to be one heck of a video game adaptation - possibly even THE BEST ONE made to date. Season 3 has been confirmed and is expected to come around within the next year or so. We'll just have to wait and see where the adventure to defeat the forces of evil takes us next. Catch this now on Netflix.
