Come July, one of the most prolific writers in the comic book world is taking on the mainline title of DC's flagship superhero, as Chip Zdarsky teams up with artist Jorge Jimenez for "Batman" starting this July with issue #125 - which begins the six issue storyline called "Failsafe".
Taking over from Joshua Williamson who is handling the current Batman arc as well as "Shadow War" crossover event with Deathstroke, this new storyline will test Bruce Wayne and his alter ego to their limits as Zdarsky describes "Failsafe as his Doomsday" in his interview with Comic Book.com.
"When DC approached me to write Batman, I immediately thought about things that could really challenge the character mentally, physically, and in terms of his relationships Failsafe is his Doomsday. When I started mapping out the story I got really excited about where it could take the title."
Zdarsky is currently writing the miniseries "Batman: The Knight" and will also be handling Daredevil when it relaunches after Devil's Reign finishes.
Failsafe begins with Batman #125 this coming July 5.
