The Batman 2 Delayed One Year, Will Be Released on October 2026

Those looking forward to the return of Matt Reeves’ world of Gotham City and its vigilante defender will have to wait a little bit longer, as Deadline has broken the news that Warner Bros. has delayed the tentatively titled “The Batman 2” - moving its released date from October 2025 to October 2026.

The delay is said to be due to the aftereffects of the dual strike that hit Hollywood last year which caused several projects to be affected and pushed back. Matt Reeves of course is working on the sequel to the hit 2022 reboot that saw Robert Pattinson play Bruce Wayne and don the cape and cowl - and where he faced Paul Dano’s Riddler and had romantic tension and chemistry with Zoe Kravitz’s Selina Kyle/ Catwoman.

The Batman of course is a DC Elseworlds project and will not share the same shared universe as James Gunn’s DC Universe of films. While fans will have to wait a bit longer for Pattinson’s return as the Caped Crusader, there’s a consolation in the form of Max’s upcoming “The Penguin” TV series later this year - which is a spin-off series and where Colin Farrell reprises his role as Oswald Cobblepot.
