It’s a great time to be a Marvel fan again, and thanks to the wonderful world of San Diego Comic-Con and the internet, we find out from Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios what their plans are for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe… And boy is it hot and wild!
With “Deadpool and Wolverine” now playing in theaters and bringing the Marvel Movies back to form, next year will see the release of “Captain America: Brave New World”, “Marvel’s Thunderbolts”, and “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”. In Captain America’s part it will be Anthony Mackie back as Sam Wilson who has taken on the role of the new Cap, as he comes to blows with Harrison Ford’s President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross aka Red Hulk and Giancarlo Esposito reveals his role as Sidewinder - the leader of the Serpent Society! Plus Harrison Ford gets to “Hulk Out” on the stage, and they showed a new clip of him from the film changing as well.
“Marvel’s Thunderbolts” also graced Hall H, and the cast that includes Sebastian Stan back as Bucky Barnes/ Winter Soldier, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova/ Black Widow, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as US Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, and Julia Louis-Dreyfuss as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine were on the stage (with Harbour dressed as Red Guardian), and a trailer was showcased!
Then “The Fantastic Four” cast of Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach went to the stage to tease their performances, and the Fantasticar was shown too - along with Feige saying that shooting was starting immediately after Comic-Con.
But the biggest surprises were The Russo Brothers returning to direct the next two Avengers films - and the reveal of Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU to play… Victor Von Doom aka Doctor Doom!
Avengers: Doomsday will be released on May 2026, and then Avengers: Secret Wars follows after that on May 2027!
Marvel is back baby!
