Those who were looking forward to Robert Pattinson's return as Bruce Wayne/ Batman in Matt Reeves' "The Batman Saga" will have to be extra patient with the next movie's release, as the untitled sequel to 2022's "The Batman" has been delayed yet again - this time to October 2027 and due to work still being needed to finish the script for the follow-up.
On Threads, DC Studios head James Gunn confirmed and gave an explanation for the delay:
"Sure. Yes, it is true. The only reason for the delay is there isn’t a full script (those of you who follow me here probably know that already). Matt is committed to making the best film he possibly can, and no one can accurately guess exactly how long a script will take to write. Once there is a finished script, there is around two years for pre-production, shooting and post-production on big films."
Recently the first spin-off series in "The Penguin" finished its first season run on Max, with Colin Farrell returning as Oswald Cobb/ The Penguin in a story set after the events of "The Batman" and explaining the origins of not only Oz but the various Gotham crime families like the Falcones and Maronis as well.
