Daredevil reverts back to Marvel Studios
Following previous reports that 20th Century Fox was going to lose the rights to the Daredevil franchise, it's now been officially confirmed by Deadline that it's really happening - the Man Without Fear is coming home to the House Of Ideas and will see movie treatment done under the supervision of Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios. Also posted by Cinema Blend, it appears that the former studio will let the rights expire, and it will automatically revert back to Marvel's hands. Not since Mark Steven Johnson's 2003 film treatment starring Ben Affleck has any other live action adaptation of Daredevil been made, and now Marvel Studios will be given control to take the character in a new movie direction that's in line with the studio's goals.
Before all this went down, The Grey director Joe Carnahan was tapped to make a treatment for Fox after plans for a reboot under David Slade's direction fell through. Unfortunately, Carnahan also threw in the towel, and now Matt Murdock's alter ego is expected to officially join the ranks of the Marvel Cinematic Universe come October this year. Daredevil is the second character reacquisition the company has gotten back after The Punisher, who was reacquired from Lionsgate and announced by Marvel Studios' president Kevin Feige during the San Diego Comic-Con. For more info on the story, visit the source posts at Cinema Blend and Deadline.

Reports and Updates on the FF/ Daredevil film rights situation with Fox
Conflicting reports are swirling on the interwebz regarding the situation over rights to using Fantastic Four baddie "Galactus" and the Daredevil reboot, both films of which 20th Century Fox owns the rights to and the latter franchise looking to revert back to the Disney owned Marvel Studios. However, according to a report by Deadline, Fox insiders have denied that there would be any trading of the rights to using Galactus over extending the rights to the Daredevil franchise, so it looks as if that the Man Without Fear's going home to the House of Ideas' own production house and getting a new film treatment through them. This is all speculation now, but with David Slade dropping out of doing a new DD film and Chronicle's own director Josh Trenk helming Fox's new FF film, this is a scenario that's likely to happen. Stay tuned for more updates, and for more on the scoop, visit the source post at Deadline and Comic Book Resources.

Ghostbusters 3 proceeding without Bill Murray
Who are you gonna call? Not Peter Venkman I'm afraid.
Without a shadow of a doubt, the Ghostbusters franchise remains one of the most beloved staples of the 80's sci-fi and popculture mythos. With two classic films spinning off into very successful tv series, video games, and toy lines, it's no wonder that fans have been patiently waiting for a new movie to be made. Unfortunately, much time and development changes have been made to see a third Ghostbusters film become a reality, and one of the main reasons is Bill Murray, who plays Peter Venkman in the films, hasn't agreed to any of the ideas pitched for a new sequel. With much time passing and none of the actors getting any younger, the time for making a new movie has to come sooner than later, and new updates tell the tale that Dr. Venkman won't be around to do some bustin'.
According to an interview with Metro and a post with Bleeding Cool, Dan Akroyd, who's overseen the films and plays fellow Ghostbuster Ray Stanz, says the film is still in the works. The biggest update, however, is that Billy Murray will NOT be in the film. How this will play out in the narrative still remains a mystery, but Murray is apparently ok with whatever his character's fate is going to be, or if they are going to use him at all. With Etan Cohen writing the draft for the movie's script, time will tell how "Ghostbusters 3" will play out without one of it's most prominent characters. For more on the story, visit the source post at Bleeding Cool.
