Marvel.com and Brian Michael Bendis have just landed some serious Spider-Man related news for the following year, as the landmark Ultimate Spider-Man series gets the animated treatment! Set to debut on the Disney XD channel on Fall 2011, this series will depict a modernized, teenaged Peter Parker as he tries to come to terms with his newfound powers after being bitten by a genetically altered spider. Learning the hard lesson that "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility", the young superhero soon finds himself encountering fellow heroes and monstrous villains, using his abilities to protect his loved ones, rescue the innocent, and make it to school at the nick of time!
As a comic book reader, let's hope this new show follows the setup Bendis has already made for the Ultimate version of ol' Webhead. That series has set the basis for a lot of innovations and themes utilized in the Sam Raimi Spidey movies and the"Spectacular Spider-Man" TV series. However, now that this announcement's been made, will this replace the latter show? I certainly hope not, but if that's going the case, I'm really gonna miss it. Like it or not, Spidey reboots are swinging all over these days.
