NYCC '12: Spider-Man and Superman get new ongoing titles in 2013

Like a clash of thunder echoing in the air, two new titles were announced by "The Big 2" comic book companies known worldwide, namely DC Comics and Marvel, at this month's New York Comic Con. Both involve two of the best known superheroes ever, Spider-Man and Superman, and it's going to send shockwaves and excitement for readers who have jumped into the new initiatives both companies have carried out, that being DC Comics The New 52 and Marvel NOW! respectively.

Set to launch on January 2013, Amazing Spider-Man writer Dan Slott will team up with artists Ryan Stegman, Humberto Ramos, and Giuseppe Camuncoli on a new ongoing Spider-Man series called "Superior Spider-Man"! After the flagship title "The Amazing Spider-Man" ends with issue #700 this new book will replace it, seeing everyone's favorite Wall-Crawler upping the ante and changing his costume to relfect a darker tone. Read more on the announcement via Newsarama and USA Today.

Also announced that's sure to make waves in the comicdom is a new ongoing Superman title that will be part of DC Comics "New 52" universe. Penned by Scott Snyder and drawn by Jim Lee, the as of yet "Untitled Superman" comic will be launching in 2013, and most likely coinciding with the release of the new Superman reboot flick "Man Of Steel". Hopefully it will be akin to classic stories of Kal-El and his alter ego, as it will include Clark Kent's life as well and those closest to him. Check Newsarama for more details!
