The Amazing Spider-Man: Mary Jane won't appear in ASM2; Two more sequels dated for 2016 and 2018
Looks like fans of looking forward to Mary Jane Watson's debut in Marc Webb's Spider-Man film reboot universe will have to wait a little longer, as the character has been confirmed to not appear in next year's upcoming sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
In a report by Superherohype coming from an interview conducted by Entertainment Weekly with MJ actress Shailene Woodley, the filmmakers have decided to cut scenes involving Peter Parker's other love interest from the 2014 film, instead reserving her appearance for the third and fourth Spidey films, which were already given the go ahead and confirmed for a 2016 and 2018 respectively.
This may bum out a few moviegoers looking for the redhead with the iconic "Face It Tiger, You Just Hit The Jackpot!" line, but that's the breaks and it happens sometimes during the filmmaking process. Besides, MJ's role was intended to be merely cameo status at best, so likely her story will be bigger and expansive in the next two films. The film will continue Andrew Garfield's growth as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man, and his romance with Emma Stone/ Gwen Stacy.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swings into theaters on May 2, 2014.
