After delivering amazing roles in flicks like the award-winning movie The King Speech and The Pirates of the Caribbean series, legendary actor Geoffrey Rush can now add superhero to his list of credentials, as websites Bleeding Cool and Hero Complex now report that he is slated to voice the role of Tomar-Re, one of the more distinguished and well known aliens that make up the infamous space police force known as the Green Lantern Corps, who are set to appear alongside Ryan Reynolds' Hal Jordan in June's epic superhero sci-fi flick - Green Lantern!
The news comes as a fresh and pleasant surprise, since Geoffrey Rush's performance in The King's Speech as mentor/ teacher/ speech therapist Bertie was one of the most dynamic roles I've ever witnessed in the history of cinema, not to mention his performances as the swashbuckling and calculating rival of Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean, Barbossa! He'll fit right and well voicing Tomar-Re, the signature "Chicken Fish" looking Lantern who serves as one of the many mentors and allies Hal Jordan encounters in his travels as a Green Lantern in the movie! Rumors also have it that a second trailer is due with screenings of Thor, and that Michael Clark Duncan may voice the great GL drill instructor Kilowog (another perfect fit if it's true!), but that news hasn't been confirmed just yet. For now, we can be assured of another great performance with Geoffrey Rush on board. Green Lantern lights his emerald ring to theaters worldwide this June 17!
