Annouced in the Official Playstation Blog and summarily posted in video game sites like Kotaku, Sony has officially confirmed that the Playstation Vita, successor to the PSP and due in Japan this December 17th, will see release in North America, Canada, Latin America, Europe, and Australia on February 22 next year! That means that those looking forward to using the next-gen portable unit in other languages besides Japanese can not rest easy it will be coming in less than three months after it hits the land of the Rising Sun.
Currently, more than 100 games are being developed for the unit, and among them are portable versions of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Assassin's Creed, and an original Uncharted game exclusive for the system called Uncharted: Golden Abyss. The system also sports a bright 5-inch OLED screen, two analog sticks, and front and rear cameras and touch panels, as well as allowing users to keep themselves connected with the internet and their respective social network accounts. Coming in two versions, consumers can choose between a 3G/ Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi only Vita, and prices are $249 or $299 respectively depending on your choice.
