Robocop 2014: First Theatrical Poster and Trailer arrive

The Future of Law Enforcement has been remade for the new generation.

Making its way to theaters on February next year, Columbia Pictures and MGM begin official promotions for director Jose Padilha's bold new reimagination of the cybernetic pop culture cop and hero, Robocop. After seeing the very first trailer of the movie released the past week, the filmmakers have graced the world with a slick theatrical poster that shows that while different, the new version of Robocop means business, and he's surely going to be taking names.

RoboCop - Official Trailer (2014)

Similar, yet vastly different from the 1987 film of the same name directed by Paul Verhoeven and starring Peter Weller in the titular role, the new Robocop film stars Joel Kinnaman as Alex Murphy, a cop from Detroit and family man who is severely injured and then outfitted with robotic technology by OmniCorp to save his life. Now both part man and machine, Alex uses his newfound abilities to clean the streets of crime, while struggling with rediscovering himself and keeping his humanity at the same time.

In addition to Kinnaman, the film also has Michael "Batman" Keaton, Samuel "Nick Fury" L. Jackson, Gary "Commissioner Gordon" Oldman, and Jackie Earle "Rorscach" Haley in supporting roles. Even if the Robocop remake is a bold new direction in itself, that's a lineup of actors that'll get anyone interested! For more information, visit the source post at Superherohype.

Robocop hits conventional, 3D, and IMAX 3D theaters on February 7, 2014.
