DC Comics releases Forever Evil: Arkham War #3 sneak peek showing off "Bat-Bane"

Looks like big changes are coming to Gotham City come next month when DC Comics releases their next chapter to their Forever Evil tie-in series centered around Bane and the Arkham villains with Forever Evil: Arkham War #3 hits shops on December 11.

The official DC Comics website has released a teaser image for the latest issue, written by Peter J. Tomasi and artwork by Scott Eaton and Jaime Mendoza, showing off what pretty much looks like Bane taking things to the next level in his mission to be Gotham's newest protector... By BECOMING THE BATMAN... AKA BAT-BANE.

In short, the man who broke Batman will carve out his own Dark Knight legacy, contrasting his own war with the Arkham inmates and criminals who seek to take Gotham by their own whims. Where is Batman in all of this? "Out of the picture" and too busy because of the events of Forever Evil.

We'll just have to wait and see how it plays out. For more information, visit the source post at DC Comics.com.

Batman: Arkham Origins: "Initiation" DLC teased at DC All Access

Over a month since its release in video game consoles and platforms, WB Games epic looking prequel entry to the Batman Arkham franchise, Batman: Arkham Origins, has served up an interesting look at what transpired in a younger Dark Knight's career prior to the events of the two classic Rocksteady Stuidos games, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. Developed by WB Games Montreal, Origins looks at the more inexperienced Batman facing overwhelming numbers of criminals and assassins on Christmas Eve, with the villain Black Mask putting a hefty bounty on the Caped Crusader's head for good measure.

Now that the game is out, people are looking towards what's to come next, and sure enough, and whole slew of DLC is coming to add some extra content and depth. While many out right now are additional challenge maps, costumes, and items (not to mention the Deathstroke pack), a new DLC exclusive sub-adventure was promised some time ago, and now is being teased at this week's DLC All Access. Entitled "Initiation", "the prequel to the prequel" story sees Bruce Wayne who has yet to don the Cape and Cowl, and is undergoing training in a monastery deep within the Himalayas, fighting ninjas and learning vital tricks that'll be important to his mission... which is a nod to the comics itself and the first film of The Dark Knight TrilogyBatman Begins.

With the Blu-Ray and DVD set to hit home video fronts and retail stores next week, James Mangold recently had an interview with I Am Rogue promoting the extended version of the film on Blu-Ray, as well as teasing the fact that he's considering other classic "comic book" storylines for the announced sequel he and Hugh Jackman are reteaming to do courtesy of 20th Century Fox.

When asked if there were any specific storylines he'd draw up, Mangold only teased the following:

"Absolutely. I can tell you that in determining where we are going I’m not solely relying on my own imagination but also the imaginations that have spun great stories about Wolverine in the comics."

Report: Warner Bros./ DC Comics legally wins sole ownership of rights to Superman

After years of long court cases and discussions, Warner Bros. has won another major and possibly final decisive battle this November 21st, as Deadline reports that the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has affirmed earlier judgements that state that the company is the sole copyright owner to the character Superman and all of his derivatives, including the recently released film reboot helmed by Zack Snyder, Man Of Steel.

The case loomed in through a series of legal battles due to controversy surrounding the original deal made between WB/ DC Comics and the creators of the character, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The deal gave Siegel and Shuster's heirs a lifetime sum in exchange for rights to the character, but those terms were challenged and brought to court over the years. Recently and almost a year ago, the court ruled in favor of WB/ DC over the Siegels. Now, the Shuster case has been decided similarly.

In what has certainly been a big year for the character thanks to his new movie and the celebration of his 75th Anniversary, now the world knows for certain that the rights are no longer challenged, and WB/ DC owns Superman legally.

Batman Vs Superman: Possible movie names pop up with registered domain names

Looks like fans speculating on the "real" title for the yet unnamed "Batman Vs Superman" film for 2015 will have some guesses coming up, as a report from Fusible, Superherohype, and Batman-News reports that Warner Bros. has registered

Here's the lowdown:

There’s been a lot of debate over the official title of the upcoming Batman vs. Superman film scheduled to be released in 2015. This week, Warner Bros. secretly registered a host of possible titles through the internet brand protection company MarkMonitor. Now, it’s likely the debate is going to get more opinions. According to the latest domain registrations, possible titles include “Man of Steel Battle the Knight”, “Man of Steel Beyond Darkness”, “Man of Steel Black of Knight”, “Man of Steel Darkness Falls”, “Man of Steel Knight Falls”, “Man of Steel Shadow of the Night”, “Man of Steel The Blackest Hour”, and “Man of Steel The Darknness Within”

So how do you like the sound of "Man of Steel: Knight Falls" or "Man of Steel: The Darkness Within"? Doesn't sound too much like a real name to clinch on the epic battle and first meeting between these two iconic DC Comics Heroes, but it could be a tie-in instead, like a video game or promotion. In fact, the recently released Batman: Arkham Origins had a similar beginning in domain name registrations for its name along with other speculations months back, so let's wait and see what the official title is in the future. For more information, visit the source post at Fusible, SHH, and Batman-News.

"Batman Vs Superman", the sequel to Man Of Steel directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck, comes out on July 17, 2015.

Arrow: Stephen Amell/ Oliver Queen dons the domino mask during the Barry Allen two-parter, and a message for BatKid.

In what will be a major CHANGE that will bring the show closer to its comic book source material, The CW has released via Entertainment Weekly the very first image of Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, suited up as his alter ego "Arrow" and donning the traditional hero "domino mask" that has eluded the character since his debut a year ago in favor of a facepaint mask under the hood.

The news, coming straight from EW.com and Newsarama, shows Ollie wearing his suit, but adding some new attire with the domino mask addition.

It'll be added to his repertoire during the second episode of the two-part "Barry Allen/ The Flash" storyline, but how and why is still a mystery. Those who have been following the show know that it's similar to what Black Canary has worn when she appeared. Could it be a gift from her or possibly an inspiration? Time will tell.

Also, check out this message from Ollie and the gang for the little Caped Crusader who touched people's hearts last weekend, BatKid.

Catch Arrow every Wednesday on 8/7pm at the CW or your local network.

Batman: Eternal "Thanksgiving" image released; Teases familiar faces... And Stephanie Brown?!

Fans of Batman are in for an early Thanksgiving treat, as a new teaser image for next spring's new Bat-book "Batman: Eternal"shows the entire gang and then some enjoying a Happy Thanksgiving lunch, with the heroes, allies, villains, usual suspects... And even some surprises in store.

The tease from DC Comics drops courtesy of Newsarama, and there be some lively faces on the artwork courtesy of Batman/ Detective Comics artist Jason Fabok. If you look closely besides Batman, Batwoman, Batwing, Batgirl, Commissioner Gordon, Catwoman, Professor Pyg, and other familiar characters from the Batman universe, there are some new faces who haven't appeared in The New 52 that have been intentionally teased and obscured, particularly one character beside Batman and Red Robin that's wearing a pink jacket. Could it probably be... Stephanie Brown?! That's certainly what's being teased here, and longtime fans of the character have waited for that chance to occur, and it may just happen soon when Batman: Eternal comes out. Missing ominously is Nightwing, who's fate in the current main DC crossover series "Forever Evil" looks grim with each passing issue. We'll find out soon enough what the status of the DC New 52 Universe will be come March when the series concludes... And then an eventual time skip of "5 years later" will occur as well.

The CW will give "Arrow" guest hero "The Flash" his own TV Pilot

In a few weeks, a certain Scarlet Speedster DC Comics hero will grace the small screen in The CW's popular superhero TV show "Arrow", as Glee's Grant Gustin debuts as Barry Allen/ The Flash on episodes 8 & 9 of the currently ongoing 2nd Season. However, that's not all the good news there is to it, as a new announcement literally seals the deal that the new guy to lace up the boots of the Fastest Man Alive for television will be getting his very own Pilot!

In a report by Deadline and also showing up in Superherohype and Newsarama, Gustin will still be appearing and debuting as Barry Allen and his alter ego, but his origin story will now be told in his own TV Show pilot, instead of dedicating an episode based on the superhero Green Arrow as a backdoor pilot. This decision came about when positive reception came from within the studio for the two-part Flash centered story arc, and Arrow creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg will return to write alongside DC Comics' own Geoff Johns, with Arrow pilot director Dave Nutter helming "The Flash" pilot as well. For more information, visit the source posts at Deadline, SHH, and Newsarama.

Batman actor Christian Bale comments on BatKid and Ben Affleck

This past week, the world was touched and reminded that heroism and dreams can come true, as a 5-year old "BatKid" was granted a Gotham City of his own to stop the bad guys, set in good 'ol San Francisco by the efforts of the city and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. It made widespread news, and was even able to catch the attention of a former Batman star and actor from Christopher Nolan's epic Dark Knight Trilogy, Christian Bale.

Via Superherohype and during an interview with Access Hollywood, Bale goes on to comment about the charity event.

"I just think it's great. It's a great day for the little guy. I just think Make-A-Wish and San Francisco did such an amazing thing to organize that. You just think of the delight in that little fella's heart, running around doing that. Then also as someone who has played Batman, it's great to see that the symbol of Batman is so much bigger than any one person, than any film, than any comic book, any TV series, that's really what it's all about. It's irrelevant which actor is playing it, we're irrelevant in that sense. But for little Miles to have such a great day is just delightful."

Then, Bale went on to talk about his successor, Ben Affleck, who will be starring as the new Caped Crusader opposite Henry Cavill as Superman in the "Batman Vs Superman" 2015 film that acts as a sequel to this year's Man Of Steel. He went on to say this:

"I wish him all the best. He's a very experienced actor and filmmaker and he'll make it his own. Our thing's finished, we've always declared it was finished and it should be passed on to another actor and it will be again after him."

A video from the interview was shown with Bale talking about Affleck:

Former "Iron Man" star Terrence Howard says he was "Pushed Out" of the film franchise

Recasting a role has its ups and downs, and leaves a lot of people wondering what could have played out behind-the-scenes in the production process. In the case of actor Terrence Howard, the former Iron Man star did not return to reprise his role as Col. James "Rhodey" Rhodes in 2010's "Iron Man 2" due to salary and contract disputes with Marvel Studios. He was then replaced by Don Cheadle, who also went on to star in the next sequel "Iron Man 3" and fought alongside Robert Downey Jr. in his own suit of armor as War Machine and the Iron Patriot.

Unfortunately it appears time does not heal all wounds, as a recent interview with Watch What Happens Live had the actor revealing more about the situation:

"It turns out, in order for — this is going to get me in a lot of trouble, but — it turns out that the person I helped become Iron Man, when it was time to re-up for the second one, took the money that was supposed to go to me and pushed me out."

Fantastic Four: New 2014 comic series officially announced; Film reboot comes on June 19, 2015

Looks like Marvel's First Family of Superheroes is coming back in a big way in two fronts - one in its native Marvel comic book universe, while the other finally acknowledges the long awaited release date of the rebooted film adaptation franchise by 20th Century Fox!

Via Newsarama and USA Today, Marvel has confirmed and officially announced a BRAND NEW Fantastic Four comic book series for February 2014, to be written by James Robinson and illustrated by Leonard Kirk (With the cover up top designed by Alex Ross). Launching under the "All New Marvel Now" brand, the relaunched series will bring the team comprised of Reed Richards/ Mr. Fantastic, Susan Richards/ Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/ The Human Torch, and Ben Grimm/ The Thing back to their roots in the Marvel Universe, as they're back in Manhattan, interacting more with the Marvel Universe, and facing more woes and problems as a superhero team than ever before. Robinson notes that the first arc will focus on the "Rise and Fall of the Fantastic Four, as well as the Rise and Fall of Johnny Storm". The Human Torch has bought the farm once before. Whether he will do so again or what befalls the team remains to be seen. One thing is certain... Dr. Doom will face the team anew and early on in the arc.

On the new Fantastic Four reboot film to be directed by "Chronicle" director Josh Trank, it will now see a release date on June 19, 2015. The Marvel movie bumps off the film adaptation of Ubisoft's video game Assassin's Creed, which stars Michael Fassbender, from that date to August 7, 2015. Any other details and casting have yet to be finalized, but the date's set. For more information, visit the source post at Superherohype.

Man Of Steel: 11/12/13 Home Media release and Kevin Smith comments on Batsuit for 2015 Sequel

11/12/13, or November 12, 2013, is a day that only comes once in a lifetime, but it also happens to be the home video release date of a certain superhero flick that has the capacity to kickstart a potential DC Cinematic Universe... With a sequel to the film coming out in 2015 to boot.

Coming to Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital Media, Man Of Steel is Zack Snyder's epic reboot of the Superman film franchise, and stars British actor Henry Cavill in the titular role as Kal-El/ Clark Kent. Sent to Earth from the doomed alien planet of Krypton, a young man embarks on a journey to find out his origins and discover his destiny as a man capable of achieving great things. Several types of packages will be made available for the release, including a Blu-Ray Combo release and a special Collector's Edition that features a tin "S" shield pack with limited edition material in it. For more info, visit the official Man Of Steel Facebook page.

Man Of Steel Trailer #3
And speaking about the sequel, which is still going under the working name "Batman Vs Superman", Man Of Steel Fan Event host and comic book guru Kevin Smith recently saw pictures/ concepts of the Batman costume that may be featured in Snyder's sequel, which has Smith's close friend Ben Affleck playing the role of Bruce Wayne/ Batman. In his recent Fatman Smodcast, the writer had this to say:

"I saw the Batman costume. More than that I saw a picture of him (Affleck) in the costume," Smith says. "Now, I don't want to give anything away 'cause that is up to them and stuff, but I am going to say this: I instantly bear hugged him (Snyder). You have not seen this costume in a movie on film before. And for a comic book fan, it was mind bending. I was like, 'Get out of here, only you have enough power to pull this off.' Because everyone always like does this Matrix/X-men black armor. … It was fantastic. I'm already a flag waver for this movie, but the costume, it blew my mind. I think everyone is just gonna be like 'Holy ****!' It's its own thing, man. It's like we haven't been down this path at all. I was so elated. ... Even the hardest core "**** all this" person will be like 'alright, I'm ready.'"

And while he was being vague on referencing what kind of costume the concepts were inspired from, word to the wise and beliefs on what Smith was referencing was in fact the infamous designs of one DC Comics artist and Co-Publisher Jim Lee, famous for his runs in Batman: Hush and the New 52 "Origin" storyline of Justice League. If that's true, then we may finally see a good interpretation of the comic book type Batsuit on film. For more information, visit the source post at Cinema Blend and ComicBook.com.

Marvel and Netflix pair up to bring Daredevil, Power Man, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones and unite them as The Defenders!

Big news has come once again to those looking forward to some new Marvel shows, as The Walt Disney Co. and Netflix have announced something exciting for fans of some particular New York-based Marvel Heroes who will not only be getting their own individual serialized programs, but eventually lead up to one big miniseries event!

Announced and reported by sites like Superherohype, it appears that Marvel TV will be developing four shows based on the heroes "Daredevil", "Iron Fist", "Power Man/ Luke Cage", and "Jessica Jones", each holding their own live-action television series that will run for about thirteen episodes each! The project, which will be produced by Marvel Television and ABC Television Studios, is expected to begin in 2015, and all individual character's series will converge into a separate team mini-series called "Marvel's The Defenders", which follows the same kind of formula as the films and heroes features in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where heroes such as Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor  had their own movies and eventually teamed up in one mega-blockbuster hit film that was "Marvel's The Avengers"!

This is definitely big and awesome news, especially for fans of Marvel Knights, Daredevil, Power Man/ Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones/ Alias! After bringing Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D into the fold and experimenting with the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the small screen, it isn't a surprise that Marvel Entertainment is taking this approach, and having recently reacquired the rights back to Daredevil, this will do nicely to bring all the heroes together, big and small screen combined! And who knows... The Avengers and The Defenders may actually meet someday! For more information, visit the source post at Superherohype!

DC Comics: Earth 2 #17 starts a new tale... And previews some major *SPOILER* changes

When the DC Universe rebooted and changed things with "The New 52" era in 2011, so did the multiverse and the adventures of the alternate reality versions of the characters we've come to know and love in DC Comics. "Earth-2" was one of the second wave of titles to usher in the following year, with writer James Robinson steering the ship and exploring new origin stories and tales of the parallel world. The first arc saw the trinity, Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, give up their lives to fight the invading forces of Apokolips, while dealing with other heroes who have more or less emerged in the wake of the crisis.

Now, writer Tom Taylor steps in on issue #17 following the departure of Robinson the previous issue, and this time the stakes get even higher with the introduction of new twists, turns, and darker times for Earth 2. Via USA Today, a preview was released showing just how serious things have gotten, with the emergence of a new Batman, the return of Superman - thought dead and now on the side of evil, and the new identity taken by a certain female reporter which will certainly shock all.

Already five episodes down and with the sixth premiering this coming Tuesday, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D has become quite the popular show, set in the same universe as the movies that make up the Marvel Cinematic Universe and featuring the resurrected Agent Phil Coulson (played by Clark Gregg) leading a team of specially trained individuals on an ongoing global peace-keeping and superhuman activity mission.

How that pans out on it's entire 22 episode first season run still remains a cool mystery, but so do the subtle themes and references that connect the show to it's big screen brethren, including the big question that spins right out 2012's The Avengers: How did Agent Coulson survive... And is it really him?

Batman Vs Superman: Thor's Jaimie Alexander reportedly in talks for role

Looks like actress Jaimie Alexander is on a roll... And beyond her appearances as Lady Sif in Marvel Studios' Thor movies, she may be a candidate to appear in the next DC Cinematic Universe movie!

In addition to talking with Forbes that there'll be another Thor movie in the works, Alexander confirmed that she is "having discussions" with both Marvel and Warner Bros/ DC, meaning that she may very well be cast to appear in the upcoming "Batman Vs Superman" movie in 2015. Given that she's played Lady Sif in Thor, it's a no brainer that people are leaning towards Jaimie's candidacy and potential to play Wonder Woman in the sequel to Man Of Steel, but it's pure speculation and rumor feed at this point. Her role could be  anything else, maybe even fitting the mold of Bruce Wayne's love interest... or perhaps a certain feline cat burglar...

For more on the interview as well as Jaimie's comments, visit the source post at Superherohype.

Catch Jaimie Alexander in Thor: The Dark World, now showing internationally and coming to theaters in the US on November 8th.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2: "Dracula's Vengeance" trailer debuts online

Debuting just yesterday during All Hallow's Eve, Konami and Mercury Steam have debuted the latest trailer that opens up much about the plot and story to expect in the next new Castlevania installment: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2.

As a sequel to the 2010 game that featured actors Robert Carlyle and Patrick Stewart in prominent voice roles as Gabriel Belmont and Zobek, this game is part of a reboot of the Castlevania mythos, and introduces a new twist in the Belmont/ Dracula legacy that will leave many changes in their legacy and feud.

The official new trailer from the Lords of Shadow Facebook Page pretty much describes what it is: "Dracula's Vengeance". SPOILERS follow naturally of course, so if you haven't played the first game or the spinoff "Mirror of Fate", view this at your own risk.
