As part of their rising Marvel NOW! initiative, Marvel is bringing back the Mad Titan himself... Thanos, in a new series called "Thanos Rising" that explores what remained a mystery for so long... His origins.
In a new limited series to be helmed by the creative team of Jason Aaron and Simone Bianchi, Thanos Rising explores the tale before the villain came to be who he was... A power hungry catalyst of destruction who was heavily featured in the now classic "The Infinity Gauntlet" saga and it's succeeding crossovers, "The Infinity War" and "The Infinity Crusade". Thanos also made a cameo appearance in a mid-post credits scene of 2012's blockbuster superhero flick The Avengers, where he was revealed to be the benefactor of both Loki and the alien race known as the Chutari.
As the writer of the new series, Aaron remarks that "Thanos Rising' is not a super hero story, and will be as "dark and creepy" as anything the writer's done for Marvel. For more info and details on what looks to be the definite origin story of the Mad Titan, visit the source post at Newsarama and Marvel.com!
Thanos Rising will begin on April 2013.
